Not great

After reading the reviews, I had high hopes. We sat outside and our server forgot us for 20 minutes. We had to remind them that we existed. Our food came at different times. We went on a Sunday so there was only a brunch menu. Two of us had the tofu scramble, it was full of a greasy fake cheese and did not have many vegetables. One person had the panini and it came with potato chips. I kind of feel like if you are eating a plant based diet you don't want greasy fake cheese and fried potato chips. A side salad or piece of fruit would have been better than potato chips and more veggies and less or no fake cheese would have been better. Our server forgot us again and we had to go inside to pay the bill.

Cons: Service, Food just didn't feel healthy, Brunch menu limited

Hi Foofie… thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m saddened to hear it was not pleasant for you, especially after having high expectations.

Your feedback regarding the service is especially concerning, and we will address this with our team to ensure better attention and communication, if you came for brunch this was only our second week as a full service restaurant. We are still working out the proper steps of service now we are officially offering dine in.

As for the food, I appreciate your suggestions about the tofu scramble and sides. I try to make sure each menu description accurately entails what each item comes with. We are very accommodating and can make substitutions within our means. We have other guests substitute our diced potatoes for the chips quite often. We make everything to order so we can definitely make your food without the Violife cheese and add more peppers if you request them.

We understand that our guests may have different preferences when it comes to plant-based options, and we’ll take your comments into consideration as we continue refining our menu. -Chef Adibe

Delicious Lunch!

This was our first visit to Oleum Kitchen and we enjoyed every bite! We shared an enormous kale Caesar salad, tomato bisque soup and the Nonna"s Favorite pizza. Their new space in the Light Street Pavilion has both indoor and outdoor seating and a nice harbor view. The staff is very friendly and while the prices look high, the portions are very generous and we had half a pizza left to take home.
There is street parking in front of Fed Hill for about $1.25 per hour which is an easy walk to the restaurant.

Pros: Tasty food, Hearty portions, Friendly staff

Best food in Baltimore

I love the meat lovers pizza so damn much, and that tiramisu! Don’t get me started on that tiramisu.

Ha! We do too! I just want vegans to live their best lives out here. The tiramisu is very special to me too. It's wild, in Okinawa no one would order it, and here, it sells out every night. So happy you found us and we can make your soul happy. -Chef Adibe

A VERY nice addition to the vegan options in MD

I ordered from this restaurant about 3 weeks ago and then again this last week. The blackened fettuccine is delish. It’s very flavorful and has a little spicy touch which my husband and I loved.
The eggplant was good but the breading is very heavy for the amount of eggplant inside. The ratio of eggplant to bread is unsatisfactory. When people like me order eggplant is because we love eggplant not because we love breading. The breading is the cherry on top. The eggplant should be thicker or it should be made with little less breading. I would personally prefer a thicker piece of eggplant.
The Roasted Red Pepper Rigatoni was a total hit with my children. It also has a little kick of spicy but my children who typically complain about something spicy on stuff that’s not even spicy, LOVED IT.
The kale salad was good but next time, I’ll get the dressing on the side. The dressing was too heavy for my liking but overall, great flavor and the chewy croutons were good too. I prefer chewy croutons than crunchy.
The tomato bisque was delicious and thick (this is coming from someone that does NOT like tomato soup of any kind). It was simply flavorful which made me question my own supposed dislike for tomato anything, lol. The richness and thickness of it was excellent.
On my first order, they also gave us a cinnamon roll that was pretty tasty. Thank You Oleum!
For someone like me with children with high allergies to nut products and seeds, I would like to see better descriptions on foods that contain nut products or sesame. It should be clear and in bold if any menu item has any common allergens.
The owner is super nice. I can tell she and her staff make all this food with a lot of love.
I will be returning when I’m back in the area.
All in all, I highly recommend.

Hi! Thank you so much for this amazing review! The best compliment is when we can win the kids over! They are my biggest critics. LOL.

The feedback on the eggplant is the first I have heard so far. But I definitely understand where you're coming from. Next time you order please let us know you would like thicker pieces and we will make it happen. We make everything to order and can adjust the size for you, no problem at all.

We just recently switched to Toast for our ordering and we are learning how to adjust things. We will take a look at the menu descriptions again and see if we can add a bolder font for items that have common allergens. It is very important to us that our customers feel safe eating our food knowing we take all the proper precautions. If you're ever unsure about an item we are more than happy to answer any questions as well.

Maybe my Tomato Bisque Recipe was so good it made you rethink your disdain for tomato soup haha! I guess only time will tell. Please let us know when you're back in the area, we would love to meet you all! - Chef Adibe

A breath of fresh air.

I had order two items and both were amazing, to start I had a custom pizza and it was delicious. The ingredients is fresh and the dough on the pizza is top notch. The cheese was so good, by vegan standard, I couldn’t believe it. Since some cheese you can “taste” it as alternative. Bravo, only thing I wish is the sauce to be a little more flavorful, but still good.
Now for desert, we had the tiramisu.
How they are making this and not losing money is beyond me, you can taste all in ingredients, and they blend well. They don’t skimp out on anything, and for the price point, they gave you so much.
I have tried tiramisu in Italy last year at a world known vegan restaurant and let me tell you, this restaurant does it better.
Bravo chefs! As much as I hate driving into Baltimore, this is worth the drive. Hopefully more menu items are added.

Pros: Fresh , Price , Customer service

Cons: Location

Don’t desert dessert

Great spot in Baltimore for food. The dips are great. Apps are delicious! The pizzas are so good. Salads are awesome and creative, read: not boring. And, most importantly: do. not. skip. dessert. The sweets are amazing. I will gladly eat cookies, cakes, cinnamon buns, and tiramisus for dinner for the rest of my vegan life. The chef is very open and receptive to feedback and really cares about the customer experience. Her passion for good food is clear.

Pros: Tiramisu, Tiramisu, Tiramisu

Why is it I had to read your super catchy intro line over and over to understand it? lol. It took me wayyyy to long. I am slow. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. My staff really enjoys seeing what people are saying. We can definitely work something out where I just feed you desserts for the rest of your existence. I mean YOLO!

😍

Wow! This place is delicious! I got the Blackened Fettuccine Alfredo w/chick’n and they gave me a free cinnamon roll! 😍 This is by far the best vegan pasta I’ve ever had. Big portion and it’s seasoned perfectly. Even has a bit of a kick! The cinnamon roll was such a great surprise!! And it was baked to perfection! Fresh, moist, and absolutely delicious. I hope this place becomes a sit down restaurant in the future!!

Ms

Great food and amazing care for her customers. We showed up a few days before the restaurant launched (not realizing Oleum had not opened yet). Chef Adibe was on-site for prep and made us three amazing pasta dishes. So kind! Can’t wait to go back.
