NOT ENTIRELY VEGAN - Edit
I was under the impression that this restaurant was entirely vegan. IT IS NOT! There are a few drinks that include cow milk. VERY disappointed when I found that out after I ordered it for pick up. The food is very good but just be aware and clarify to make sure that everything you order is *actually* vegan so you don’t end up ordering a non-vegan option. I don’t understand why, there are so many vegan options for sweetened condensed milk. I would gladly pay a dollar more to avoid animal torture for any beverage!! HappyCow needs to change the label of this to an all vegetarian place not all vegan!

Great Vegan Lunch - Edit
Did to visit this place since it seems to be the only "true vegan" place in Rochester during my visit here. It is located a short distance from downtown Rochester and is in a little funky house. Very nice indoors and much larger than it would appear from the outside. It has a nice patio area in the back. I ordered the Banh Mi sandwich platter and 2 chocolate chip cookies. The service was very friendly and prompt and offered me a glass of water since I hadn't ordered a drink. I sat indoors and it only took a few minutes for my food to arrive. It was GREAT! Sandwich was very tasty. I ate one of the chocolate chip cookies and it was very good. My only comment would be that they might want to find a better side than the potato chips that they served. Will definitely stop here again the next time that I'm passing through Rochester!

Would definitely come back! - Edit
Small place but wheelchair accessible and friendly staff. Only wish they offered more options, our party got the zumbro coffee, viet mocha, chopped banh mi bowl, and the spicy salmon bowl, all of which were lovely. The zumbro doesn’t scream “nutella” to me, but more of a mocha flavor with a hint of hazelnut. Still tasted good though! Very large portions for the price and mostly sustainable to-go materials like bamboo cutlery.

YEEEESSS - Edit
I waited months to go here since it never worked out when I visited. So worth the wait.
Read moreMy parents and sisters, along with her boyfriend and friend came as well (non vegans).
My parents and my sister + boyfriend enjoyed the nachos and the one of the rice bowls (forgot what kind). My sister did not like the rice bowl but I did.
My other sister and her friend got the matcha smoothie, they hated it but they also dislike healthy items. I tried and LOVED IT.
I got the the brat, it was good. I’ve tried vegan hot dogs at home that were okay but this was good.
Spent a total of 50ish dollars (we got 3 Cokes, three teas, and two smoothies for drinks).
Pros: Vegan , Local, Decor
Cons: Parking? I didn’t really care, Small

Yum - Edit
Amazing! At first my Mom (non vegan) was put off by the almost entirely vegan menu, thinking it would be all flavorless tofu dishes. But we both throughly enjoyed our meals. It's our new favorite restaurant! It doesn't 'taste vegan' at all, a great place to take meat eaters.

So glad an all-vegan food place is open in Rochester! I just wish they were open earlier in the day (coffee before work) & later at night... as well as every day of the week. Delicious food and great coffee.

I love Old Abe’s! The mix of flavors & textures in the Korean BBQ Bulgogi Bowl is incredible. The boondi (the little fried puffs) especially add nice crunch & heat. I loved the BLT as well. Both dishes use meats from The Herbivorous Butcher. I live over an hour away but would drive back just to go here.

The BEST vegan restaurant in Rochester.
Read moreWe've visited Abe's multiple times since our discovery of them last month. Every vegan item on the menu is delicious. Our personal favorite is the poke` bowl with the spicy 'salmon'. Our kids love the grilled cheeze, how Abe specially prepares the Daiya cheese to give it it's flavor is a delicious mystery.
This vegan landmark is now our go-to dining establishment!
Pros: Extensive vegan fare, Specials change frequently

Delicious poke bowls and sandwiches, mostly with vegan meats as a base with really fresh veggies. All but a couple items are vegan, all are vegetarian. Owner is awesome and amiable. Always adding creative and tasty new menu items.

Delicious! - Edit
Finally, a dedicated vegetarian and mostly vegan restaurant in Rochester, MN. Old Abe's has six or seven different hot items to order, lots of coffee, kombucha, and other dessert items. They also carry plant-based meats from the Herbivorous Butcher in Minneapolis. I order the Poke bowl and it was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the banh mi sandwich and said it was delicious. The owner is super nice and took the time to explain the menu to us. We'll be back!
