Book Ahead - Busy but Lovely Owner - Edit
What a shame. Our last night in Osaka and we couldn't get a spot for 2 even at 7pm. Book ahead unless you plan to go at opening time. Tried to wait in entrance area but smokers use that space. Also not accessible unless via steep steps.
Read moreThe staff, who must be the one person doing everything, is absolutely lovely and tried to help us find other veg places nearby to eat.
What we could see looked yum.
So book ahead, and only attempt to find it if stairs and smoking areas aren't an issue.
Great to see such a busy place, but sad for us hungry veg tourists.
Pros: Lovely person
Cons: Very busy

Good okonomiyaki & friendly staff - Edit
Gluten free, delicious, and many vegan saucing options. The vegan mayo was an awesome addition and they had chili powder and Tabasco sauce if you're like me and prefer something a little spicy. The fries were good too. They came with some stone ground mustard which was divine. You can also take away your leftovers, the okonomiyaki is pretty large. I'm an American and I could only finish half of my Medium size 😂 the staff was really friendly. The building is very small though, but they offer the food to go as well if you don't want to stay.

FIVE STAR Vegetarian/Vegan Okonomiyaki - Edit
This place is absolute heaven and I love it with all my heart. The shop is small but extremely inviting and friendly. The staff on the night were super nice, and she engaged me in simple Japanese conversation which was very patient of her!
Read moreI went back the following night to try the Yakisoba and found out that she is the owner and sole employee of this restaurant. Incredible woman.
The food is authentic and delicious. There is an easy to understand menu and you can ask for take away if you get full (you will get full, the M size is big).
Will be back, every time I'm in Osaka. It is a crime I can't give this 5 stars
Pros: Lots of vegan and vegetarian combinations, Friendly owner and English friendly, Authentic and delicious food

The bad (not really): Long legged people might want to stretch beforehand! It is VERY cosy!
Read moreThe good: amazing vegan / vegetarian options. The food tasted incredible! The server was very aware of different veggie dietary requirements (vegan, lacto vegetarian etc), was also the cook and was still super attentive! A fantastic hidden gem and a must visit Happy Cow fans!

Incredible!! - Edit
Food is awesome, the atmosphere is super cool (if you don’t mind the smoking), and the vegan options are very clearly labeled. My friend and I arrived at about 2am, the owner asked if either of us one vegan (only me) and she gave me like a graph plot thing with clearly marked definitions of what is excluded in various levels of vegetarianism. I IDed fully vegan and she gave me two options (okonomiyaki, the Osaka specialty, and veggie yakisoba). I naturally ordered both.
Read moreOkonomiyaki is prepared with 5 vegetables of your choice; she then brings specific egg-free mayo and explains the sweet/spicy sauce (a bit like A-1 steak sauce in the US i.e. tamarind-heavy spicy red sauce) is also vegan.
Be warned: the owner is extremely high level holy elemental and you will sustain extreme holy damage from her presence. It’s impossible not to fall in love with her 🙏 wear your white rings or cast suitable buffs. Also she was literally the only employee cooking for and servicing 3-5 tables by herself, responding to a hotel bell within a few seconds to bring new drinks, etc. Her English is good enough to get through. This is a must-visit for a vegan/vegetarian looking for a very Osaka experience 🔥🔥🔥

Big portions and plenty of veg/vegan options. You can choose how you make up your okonomiyaki and add sauces yourself. Super tasty and drinks are cheap. Really friendly staff and they speak English well. Highly recommend

Tasty food and a fun experience - Edit
We went here because of the other positive reviews on HappyCow and we were not disappointed! There is a vegan/vegetarian menu on request. The place is cosy, we went late so luckily it wasn’t too busy (there was two of us and then one other couple). You get to see the food made in front of you which is fun, they do serve meat - so there is a risk of cross contamination, but we risked it anyway & I am glad we did!

Must-visit in Osaka - Edit
Okonomiyaki is a traditional Japanese dish. However, finding a vegan option is rare and finding one that is as amazing as here is impossible.
Read moreOther than the usually rather small meal sizes, at Oko you can decide between small, medium & large - but medium is definitely enough, even for the most hungry ones.
Plus, you can choose what vegetables you want in your Okonomiyaki. There's vegan Mayonnaise as well and if someone isn't feeling like Okonomiyaki there are other vegan and vegetarian options as well.
The atmosphere in this little shop is great and it kinda feels like home.
The staff is so nice and welcoming, fully understands veganism and all kinds of forms of vege. I was really happy.
Pros: AMAZING Okonomiyaki, Choose your vegetables, Big portion sizes

Great food and atmosphere - Edit
A cosy little place with a very welcoming host. It can be very busy but we got 5 of us in just after opening at 6pm. We had the okonomiyaki and yakisoba. You get to choose what vegies are in the okonomiyaki. Unless you are sharing or you're a giant DO NOT ORDER THE LARGE OKONOMIYAKI! Having gotten used to Japanese serving sizes I ordered a large because I was hungry. It was enormous. Basically two mediums stacked together. It could feed 4 people easily. It was delicious though and they have take away containers for left overs. Relaxing atmosphere. Cheap drinks. 5 stars.

Must have in Osaka! - Edit
I would give this 5 stars if I could. The okonamiyaki was cheap for the amount you get and sooo satisfying! I loved being able to experience an alterative to this traditional dish. The atmosphere is really nice and cozy, the owner is a great host and the drinks are 180 yen wich all made for a great night. Going back again today!

Best Vegan feed in Osaka - Edit
Would rate 10 stars if I could. The owner is so nice and accommodating, a must visit for any vegan in Osaka, I went here twice in my short stay. The fried noodles are also very tasty. A medium is definitely enough for once person.

Fantastic atmosphere - Edit
Be careful not to order the large, it will be far too big!
Read moreWe had a great tome at Oko Okonomiyaki. The restaurant was small, but I wouldn’t have it anyway other way.
Ordering vegan was nice and easy. You got to choose which veggies and mushrooms went into your Okonomiyaki. A few minutes and a cheap beer later later you’re presented with a massive rectangular slab of an Okonomiyaki. Slap on the mandatory sauce and (egg free) mayo and off you go.
It tasted just as good as any other Okonomiyaki I’ve had, but with the added bonus of being cruelty free. The portion size is beyond generous and left me on the verge of a food coma.
The atmosphere was great too. Small, personal and almost “hostel-like”. The walls are adorned in messages written by customers, the music can be controlled by whichever table grabs the PS4 controller and the owner was friendly enough to give us her umbrella so we weren’t caught in the rain afterwards!
I highly recommend this place. It alone makes the visit to Shinsaibashi worthwhile.
Pros: Excellent Okonomiyaki , Wonderful staff, Cheap beer!

Amazing food and incredible service - Edit
The food here is delicious - i tried both the okonomiyaki and the soba. The one woman does both the serving and the cooking, and is so incredibly kind and gorgeous. She radiates happiness that is contagious. The serving sizes are massive and the drinks are cheap. I got the small and had enough for breakfast the next day. Vegan mayo is also available. 10/10

Highly recommend! - Edit
This restaurant was super cute and had a great vibe. The staff are extremely friendly and speak quite good English. Drinks were really cheap and the portion sizes of the (delicious) okonomiyaki were extremely generous! A large is enough to feed 2-3 people and a medium could feed two people as well. They have a seperate vegan menu (okonomiyaki and yakisoba) and check with you at the start if you're completely vegan or lacto-ovo vegetarian etc. Great place to go as a vegan/vegetarian or with omni partners/friends. Would definitely go back here!
