Really good food - Edit
A completely vegan restaurant you can also buy vegan ramen and other ingredients for cooking. You order via tablet that can be switched to english. Food is really good and fresh. I can recommend the mandus and the soup. The old women can't speak any English but the cashier was really nice and friendly and good in English.

5 worlds!! - Edit
A long time ago, the go-to place for vegan traditional Korean food was the Sinchon loving hut. That place is long since gone, but OsegyeHyang is a reasonable successor, with many of the same dishes.
Read moreThey've upscaled it: you don't take off your shoes or sit on the ground anymore. The menus are electronic. So that cozy vibe is gone but the food is still great and the complimentary tea is excellent.

Vegan Korean food - Edit
The food was nice, although it was a little cold when we were served. The chicken was too saucy but the rolled mushrooms were really tasty. The whole menu is vegan with the options of having onion and garlic in your dishes. You order off the tablet on your table. They also play some videos on the tv that seem cultish but they don’t force it on you.

Mouthwatering korean dishes - Edit
I have gone to this place twice for a reason! The first time I ordered a jajangmyeon (which was underwhelming) and dumplings (which was awesome)! The second time I got the spicy stew with rice and loved it! The meals are really filling considering the price point and it’s served with some side dishes. You can also order from a tablet in the table so very easy to choose. The space is just a bit small and the huge television is a bit distracting. Otherwise, the location is great if you’re ever in Insa-dong.

Think this is quite authentic! - Edit
It doesn't feel like it's run by a mock meat company! It feels like another Supreme Master TV cult place! But the food can't be faulted. Order on a tablet at the table. I got the tteok-bokki as needed to try it when in Korea! It was very spicy and I had to leave the last few, but it was good and I'm sure it was authentic. I also got fried kimchi dumplings and the fried egg and they were both very, very good - highly recommend those. It's served with free sides of pickled cabbage and kimchi. I think if I go again I'd try the chicken.

I had the spicy tofu stew and the kimchi mandu. You get some side dishes and white rice with your main. The stew was very good and not so spicy. The mandu were mind blowing, so good! Very much recommend this restaurant 💕🥟

Excellent traditional foods - Edit
I’ve visited 오세계향 twice: once in July 2022 and again in March 2023. It is in a lovely little alley in the Insadong neighborhood and the food was delicious both times. The atmosphere was more special in 2022 due to having floor seating on cushions at low tables and they had a huge multi-page menu.
Read moreIf you’re going solely for the food: YUM! Lots of traditional options like tteokbokki, banchan, soups, and non traditional but delicious items like salads. Everything I’ve ordered here was delicious. We even brought friends and our Korean family here, all non-vegans, and they loved it as well.
I would give it 5 stars except for three things: the removal of the traditional floor seating/cushions, the additional of an electronic menu, and the way the worker—who seemed to be in charge—treats customers in 2023. The atmosphere wasn’t as special when they replaced their original seating with typical tables and chairs. And they still offer a large selection of menu items but it was much harder to navigate with their electronic menu than it was by using the previous multi-page book. But most disturbing was the worker’s behavior/attitude. My immediate family doesn’t speak Korean but our extended Korean family obviously does and they translated some of the not-so-nice things the woman was saying about some of the (other non-Korean) patrons. That makes me hesitant to return without someone who speaks Korean as I don’t like rudeness in any form. It makes me not want to patronize the restaurant again, sadly. I will probably be swayed by other family members but it made me feel weird that she would be rude to people when she thinks they don’t understand what she is saying.
