favorite veggie burrito in East Oakland - Edit
I have had a few vegetarian burritos in Fruitvale yet Obelisco Restaurant might be my favorite. Their beans contain no lard & you can choose between black, pinto beans, or refried.

Once seated I was brought a basket of house-made corn chips along w/ a tasty red salsa that wasn't too spicy yet was flavorful.
I went w/ the vegetarian burrito that came w/ picadillo de vegetales, black beans, brown rice, & Pico de Gallo. I was happy that it didn't come w/ cheese or sour cream. I had them add guacamole. I have a hearty appetite yet barely was able to finish it.
The burrito was nourishing. It was packed w/ veggies & flavorful. Remember what your mother said....eat your veggies!
The smiling service made me feel welcome. The vegan desert of Coconut Flan looked tempting yet didn't have room for it.
Obelisco is a short walk from the Fruitvale BART station making it convenient for those visiting or living in East Oakland.
I will be back soon!

Vegan Mexican in Fruitvale - Edit
Friendly folks who pointed me immediately to vegan items and options including a fancy brown rice w corn and veggies. I got the burrito, which came w a small side of chips and salsa 😋. Also ordered Watermelon (Sandia) aguas fresca!
Read morePretty sure all their beans are vegan but for sure refried is. They have vegan Mexican rice and fancy brown rice which was delicious. Also have vegan tortillas and a spinach option. The burrito was full of delicious veggies! Yum!
The burrito and salsa was banging. Will definitely be returning.
