Decent food - Edit
I was here for a wedding reception and the food was OK. Their main curry was definitely made for tourists and was very sweet. The entree was just eggplant, which I don't like, so I don't know how well they cater to vegans on a day to day basis. When my friend pays a decent amount per person with notice, I expected it to be a little nicer.

Cons: Taste was average

Top notch - Edit
Unlike other diners in Palm Cove, this is right next to the beach. Not cheap, but the food is exceptional. We sat outside, even though it was very windy it was still delightful; although service did go missing at times. Recommended.

Amazing breakfast! - Edit
Breakfast is very affordable (especially compared to lunch/dinner!), with plenty of vegan options (not marked, ask the staff) or the ability to build your own breakfast if you prefer. Lovely friendly staff, and a perfect view of the beach!

Not great for vegetarians/vegans - Edit
I can't agree with the comments in the listing. There are no vegetarian or vegan dishes on the lunch/dinner menu. There are some side dishes which they suggest but these are not filling or substantial enough to be a meal. They are very unhelpful re other options. We ate there 3 times for dinner (with a number of vegans in our party) and each time we were told they would provide us with some new options when we next came only to find on the return visits they wouldn't provide for us. The staff there told us they have been trying to convince the chef for a while to include vegan/vegetarian options but he won't budge on it. The food is very good here so it's a pity. For breakfast the hotcakes are outstanding (the best we've ever had but suitable for vegetarians not vegans) and the bircher muesli is suitable for vegans and is also really good.

It was OK - Edit
We booked at NuNu in advanced and made sure we highlighted our dietary requirements in the notes! We called to make sure being vegan wasn’t a problem since we noticed there were no options on their menu online.
Read moreWe were told just to ask for the vegan menu and we got all excited but we wanted to go to NuNu for a long time, before joining the vegan community!
The location is amazing and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We were a bit disappointed though when we realized that our vegan “menu” was just a modification by elimination of ingredients of non-vegan dishes.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I understand it’s not part of their concept, but I believe they should have offered at least a protein substitute especially considering we called in advance too! We had their sourdough bread with grilled lemon, a betel leaf with raw grated veggies and peanut and papaya relish then we had to move to the sides section for our mains but it was quite alright since they offered us some rice to have with the Sichuan eggplant and yellow bean paste! This dish was probably my favorite! Then we added some fried zucchini with black vinegar caramel.
We were happy overall, just not quite satisfied. We still decided to give the dessert a go. They modified the roast pineapple substituting the coconut sorbet (that contained milk powder) with a passion fruit sorbet! It came out a bit too acidic, but was definitely refreshing!
Pros: Beautiful location, Friendly and Knowledgeable Waitstaff
Cons: Too few options for vegan and even vegetarian, Pricy for a non protein meal

Best Location in Palm Cove - Edit
Nu Nu is high class all the way. They've recently relocated (March 2014) to their current location at the front of Alamanda Resort and it truly is the best spot on the esplanade.
Read moreAt their previous location Nu Nu had an entire vegan menu, complete with entrees, mains and dessert options. However, due to their recent move, they are currently reworking a lot of dishes and haven't got a vegan specific menu like previously. However, with the right demand, I'm sure they will bring it back.
During our visit they assured us they could do a vegan meal, but it was best to make a reservation and let them know beforehand. They were able to adapt a few dishes, but most tended to be salad-based. We ordered tapas and got hand cut chips with house made vinegar and sea salt, and cassava chips. The cassava chips came out and the waitress told us how they were made with chicken and fish stock, so we let her know they were meant to be vegan and she quickly ran back and the redid the whole dish using different ingredients. They tasted amazing.
Nu Nu have a talented group of chefs who have always been able to cater for vegans, so don't be afraid to make a booking to ensure you don't miss out on this beautiful restaurant. Let them know your requirements and they'll be able to help you with your meal.
Pros: Location and atmosphere, Attentive and friendly staff, Menu easily adapted for vegans.
Cons: Expensive, No set vegan menu, Very heavily booked on weekends
