Good Jamaican food in casual setting - Edit
I have been wanting to come here for a long time and finally had the opportunity a few days ago. i had not realized from prior reviews that this is primarily a takeout place with just a few tables. It has fewer options than Hartford's Fire and Spice. I had the jerk tofu, cabbage, and rice and peas. The tofu was great - nicely spiced and moist inside. Very reasonably priced (and good)mango smoothie. Will definitely return.

I live in the area and I’ve been coming here for a while now. The food is always delicious and the portions are huge. A meal easily feeds me 2 or 3 times. Jerk tofu is amazing and once in a while they have a mushroom dish that is also really great. You pick proteins and sides as your meal, and smoothies and desserts as an option. They sell sea moss gel here too, that can be hard to find. Thanks so much for being a solid local vegan spot!

Amazing experience. I got the medium platter with black beans, string beans, curry veg, jerk tofu and curry tofu. INCREDIBLE. I was the happiest little foodie. All around great experience. Don’t miss it!!

The food (in my case, curried veggies & chickpeas sweet potatoes) was delicious. I also grabbed a carrot cake muffin on the way out. I took it to go, and it stayed warm on my 30-minute walk back to my hotel (in 30 degree weather!). The 3-portion size seems perfect for one meal (although I wish I would’ve gotten 5!). If only I was in town for longer, I would definitely come back!

This was absolutely delicious. I got to pick five different options and that food lasted for two days in my case. The portion was huge, and I would've definitely eaten there again if I stayed longer in New Haven.

I ordered my food at 4:30 didn't get my food until 6:30..when I finally get it, it's all dry and nothing tastes good.. AT ALL everything is super dry..I'm Jamaican so Ive been eating carribean food all my life & I've even order from here before ..the 1st time wasn't amazing but it wasnt bad but this time it was terrible ..after wating for 2 hrs I was so excited to dig in ..I'm thinkin maybe they just had a bad day, happens to the best of us..

Delicious, wholesome food. It's the kind of meal that someone who cares about you would make for you: it tastes amazing but is also sustaining and nourishing. I went with my meat-eating partner and we both loved everything. Our favorites were the jerk tofu (fantastic), sweet potatoes, plantains, and regular potatoes, but everything else was great too. The Beyond patty was also a nice treat. Portions are generous. I could eat this stuff every day. We're just visiting the area for the night but we're definitely coming again the next time we're in CT. Also black-owned, so another plus!

Read moreAfter 40 minutes of waiting and driving home a half hour to eat, we saw that we were given the wrong order. Staff was very accommodating and offered a full refund, and we kept the meal.
Unfortunately, some of the sides we weren't interested in so there's always next time.
Jerk tofu was delicious, as were the sweet potatoes. Highly, highly recommend the jerk tofu. Mac n cheese tasted like vanilla almond milk, noodles were overcooked, and sadly lacked cheese. Curry mixed vegetables were fine, but very overcooked. Wasn't a fan of the ginger chicken, but that's because the flavor of anise was very overpowering.
I'm excited to go back to try the sides that I was interested in and really looking forward to trying the beef patty.

Everything they serve is super flavorful. The jerk tofu is incredible. I even enjoy the cabbage and I usually only order that because it is supposed to be “good for you.” Here, I actually want to eat it. Well done. The service is very friendly. If they have it, get the ginger hibiscus drink. It is very refreshing.
