Pleasantly Surprised - Edit
Updated: Holy (Happy!) Cow 🐮 the food today was incredible and I’m excited to go back! I wasn’t as blown away from our first visit, but I’m glad we went back and we will be back many times again.
Read moreIt’s always great to have another fully vegan restaurant on Oahu, especially on North Shore. The location is great (plenty of parking on the side and back). Their serving sizes are generous and we especially love the quesadilla and jackfruit krabby cakes. Order the gingerbread donut if you’re around for Christmas!!
I particularly enjoyed the heaping pile of fruit and cream for the cheesecake and the variety of options.
I thought the patty melt was just okay- but I’ve only tried it once.

Must stop, some of the best vegan food we had on Oahu! - Edit
The first time in I had their Lion's Mane special with broccoli and it was a play on beef and broccoli and absolutely out of this world! We went back the next day to try the Loco moco and the krabby cakes… Fantastic! And then rounded it all out with a nice piña colada mock tail. We loved it so much the first day we went back and had lunch again the next day!

Absolutely Amazing - Edit
My husband and I decided to tour the island and stop here for lunch. I ordered the sweet potato wrap, and hubby got the portobello melt sandwich. Both were out of this world!!! The owners greeted us as soon as we walked in. The food was incredibly fresh and arrived at our table outside promptly. The cabbage slaw that came with my husband's sandwich was fantastic. Everything, including the fresh fruit on the side and the pickles, were homemade and fantastic!!!! Full 5 stars, and I can't wait to go back again tomorrow. Don't miss this place!!!

Awesome food, great staff - just go there! - Edit
We‘ve been eating here this week 4 times and we will continue to eat here. All items they sell are completely vegan and often selfmade (like pasta, sauces, vegan cheese alternatives, croutons, and so on). The first day, we came in like 15:45 and didn‘t realize, that the restaurant would close at 16:00. they didn‘t mention it at all, took our orders and served perfectly hot and great tasting food. Only when we left I realized, that the restaurant would be closed now since 20 mins. The lady is very kind and has a great mind of customer oriented business.
Read moreEveryday we had great food, tried several dishes and it all was delicious. You can orient yourself on the price: items around 13 USD are a good breakfast bite, around 18 USD are quite a big lunch and around 22 USD you‘ll get a huge plate of food. Also the food is creative and well thought through.
The business is family owned and run (husband is the chef, sons are supporting the kitchen and the wife does the service). The location has a cozy atmopshere inside and was always very clean. The orders arrive quickly within usually 5-10 mins.
Full recommendation to this - support a local family and a local vegan business. You won‘t regret it.
Pros: Great tasting food - often hand- and homemade, Very welcoming staff, Cozy and clean location
Cons: I can‘t tell a negative option in this restaurant

9th island is in the historic surf town of Haleʻiwa and all I can say is WOW!
We were so impressed!
The wonderful and very kind family owned fully vegan Restaurant is truly Magical.
The owners are from Las Vegas.. so it has a cute Vegas Vibe.
The owners are so friendly and welcoming and gave us great suggestions and we talked about why they became vegan.
The food is Truly amazing!!! Even if you aren’t a vegan or haven’t really enjoyed vegan foods in the past I know that you will love it.
The husband wife and two kids aren’t chefs by trade but learned and perfected recipes that are just phenomenal.
It’s almost as if you can taste the Love and time that was put into your meal! The food is so creative and delicious. We had three things: buffalo cauliflower bites, Cheeseburger Pizza and the special Ioins made mushroom (that Looked just like meat) over a bed of freshly made fettuccini .
The cauliflower was a perfect balance of healthy and fried with a rich ranch dip and and crispy coating. You must try this here.
The cheeseburger pizza was made with beyond burger and had a lovely char on the meat pieces and again this sauce was a perfect balance of eating pizza and burger at the same time.. comforting and filling.
The special of the day was also very delicious and the lions Maine mushrooms Looked just like aged beef over pasta (my photos don’t do it justice). My friend who has never likes mushrooms tried it and liked it. I found it a little bit too saucy but that’s just my personal preference..
Bottom line is that you must must try this place because it is so crazy delicious!
It was Well worth the drive and the price for something that wasn’t just food..it was Magical Love on a plate!
Pros: The food, The owners (so sweet), Did I mention the FOOD
Cons: Why isn’t this place in my town!

Two thumbs up - Edit
We got five things off the menu, plus two desserts. All of it was fantastic. Highly recommend this place. Perfect way to escape the sun and heat on the North Shore after a morning at the beach too! Also…some of the easiest parking in the area.

9th Island
Read moreVegan restaurant replacing the beet box cafe previously. Here’s what me my mom (not vegan) got:
Jackfruit melt: mom said it’s very flavorful, I liked it, a little pricey but I understand with the ingredients. i didn’t like the little celery addition but my mom liked the extra crunch of it.
Sweet potato burrito: a little underwhelming, but a reasonable price for a burrito. I’m not sure if it was the formatting or the taste of the sweet potatoes- may even be in their interest to use the purple sweet potatoes but for what it is- it’s ok.
Banana oatmeal pancakes: best of the bunch. Mom really enjoyed them and noted that she wouldn’t have thought they were vegan and I think they were much fuller and less grainier than other banana pancakes I’ve had.
Good, polite, and quick service.
I’m content with the experience, I think it’s worth trying per your taste. I might go back to try other menu items, but I’d say it was pretty fair. 3.
Pros: Great/quick service , Banana pancakes
