Sad that it is closing! - Edit
I have been curious about this place for a while. As I have only recently been able to get to LA restaurants after the lockdown madness, I tend to go to All You Can Eat Buffets (my favorite restaurant style). However, when I read about Nic's closing at the end of this month, I decided to be sure to get there on my last trip to LA.
Read moreIt was well worth it - the food was very good. My friend and I shared the Lion’s Mane Asada pizza, the Southern Style Fried Oyster Mushrooms, and a bowl of soup. In Santa Barbara (where I live) the cost would have been similar, but the serving sizes would have been smaller and we would have left hungry. At Nic's we left full and took home some leftovers. Additionally, the food at Nic's was more creative and would have been harder to make at home than the simpler dishes available at the high cost SB restaurants.
The Pizza was very good and worth the high price. The soup was also a very good creamed cauliflower soup. The mushroom dish was not what I expected. I thought that the potatoes, mushrooms, and greens would be mixed together. Instead, the mushrooms were batter fried and the collard greens and mashed potatoes were served on the side. Everything tasted great (the dashi collard greens were simple, but very good). The mushrooms tasted great, but I would have preferred them if they were not fried - as I prefer to avoid fried foods.
I really wish that I could return to try some of their other menu items. I told our server that they should reopen in Santa Barbara to provide some life to the (disappointing) SB vegan restaurant scene.

Delicious food and great ambience - Edit
Tried Nic’s on a recent visit to the Hollywood area and had an enjoyable meal! Everything we had was great - bang bang broccoli (great flavors and textures), bianco pizza (hello, truffle vinaigrette!!), and orecchiette (perfect handmade pasta that was creamy and the mushrooms were to die for). Ambience was delightful as well!

Beautiful Upscale Restaurant - Edit
This was our last stop before LAX and our 11:45 pm flight! Nic's is definitely a more upscale vegan restaurant with the most beautiful seating. It was such a beautiful night, and this is the perfect spot. If I lived in LA, I would love to be taken here for a date night. We didn't have a lot of time at all, so we tried these delicious avocado tacos. They were simple, but the fried avocado was heavenly, and the vegan aioli was so flavorful. These mini tacos were around $30, which is very expensive, but you're paying for the location, too.

Super tasty restaurant with large portions! The drinks at the bar are delicious too. So many options! I highly recommend the risotto & the banana split. The avocado fried rice appetizer was just okay. Outdoor seating. Parking lot behind is cash only. Street parking isn’t too hard.

Fantastic Upscale Vegan in West Hollywood - Edit
My wife and family have eaten at Nic’s many times now. It has become our other favorite upscale vegan restaurant in West Hollywood. The portions of the menu change seasonally, and the dishes our what you would expect from a top notch chef. Services and ambiance are amazing too! Competes with Crossroads kitchen.

this spot is so relaxing and v ambient. staff were very kind. we started w the lettuce cups as an appetiser and they were delicious. we moved tables away from the door bcs it was a little chilly and our waitress was very helpful despite it being almost full. i got the bolognese and was in shock. easily the best pasta ive ever had in my entire life. totally confused my mother who loved bolognese before going vegan. she told me it tasted better than bolognese w meat. we were totally stuffed after and jet lagged as well so we werent feeling dessert lol. next time i come to la !

Delicious Dining - Edit
Nic’s on Beverly has an amazing outdoor space with a large tree shading the patio. The indoor dining area is chic as well. We tried a delicious breakfast bowl with farro chorizo and an insanely delicious fried mushroom sandwich. The Bloody Mary was incredible with everything bagel seasoning salting the rim. We will definitely be back next time we are in LA!

Pricey, but definitely worth it! - Edit
Beautiful ambiance, perfect for a date or celebration. The lion's mane rib eye probably grills for hours, because it tastes and feels just like a piece of meat, maybe better, since there's no fat chunks to discard - and no suffering of course. Great pizza as well, and even the chicken add-on tasted amazing. My husband also loved the lime cheesecake, and I think they gave it a good twist as well. Yes, everything seemed a bit overpriced to me, even for the most elaborate dishes, but I don't regret it one bit.

Disgusting and overpriced - Edit
Such a shame. Nice aesthetic inside, but the food is overpriced, lacks flavor, proper technique on tempura batter, flavor and execution on the lion’s mane steak, overs salting items. Additionally, our waitress had zero personality and offered little help on recommending dishes or answering associated questions. I would give this establishment a 1 star if I could. There was also someone passed out sleeping on the grass in front of the restaurant.

Excellent Food - Edit
Wow, I’ve been to many vegan restaurants, and many serve simply average food. That is not the case here, it was such a treat to have such well-made and delicious food. I had the bbq chicken pizza and my husband had the original pizza, and we shared a side of fries. Everything was mind-blowing, down to the side of ranch with the pizza. This place will be a must-stop for us anytime we are in LA.

Top notch… - Edit
I went here for breakfast and had “The Waffler Sandwich” which had JUST Egg, American cheese, tempeh bacon and jalapeño aioli in between two waffles. It was absolutely delicious. The restaurant has nice ambience and the service was pretty good. A bit pricey, but worth it if you’re looking for the full dining experience.

Just had the bolognese for the first time and wow 🤯… also love the seared tofu. People rave about the deep dish - it’s good but they could source a better cheese IMO. But honestly that nitpicking bc this place is among the best!!

High End, High Priced, Yummy Vegan Food - Edit
I had brunch here, the inside is spacious and they have a large outdoor area. The breakfast options all look appetizing. I had the Benedict and the sauce was perfect, I ate the entire thing without issue. I also got the sausage patties on the side which were yummy. Biggest draw back is that it's VERY pricey.

what a shame… overrated and overpriced - Edit
I got the crispy mushroom sandwich to go for $24 and I was unimpressed. The oyster mushroom was too thick, so it lacked overall seasoning for the patty. Oyster mushroom sandwiches usually taste better when the mushrooms are broken apart; they become crispier and you can taste the juicy flavors better after you fry it. Unfortunately, it was slightly chewy. What a shame. There also wasn’t enough spicy ranch sauce on the burger. It wasn’t spicy. Eh. Probably wouldn’t go back. I’ve tried better vegan sandwiches for 14 bucks.

Super great food, but be prepared for heavy, rich food. The Bianca pizza was insanely good, highly recommend. The pizza is like Focaccia bread with pizza toppings. Fantastic outdoor patio.

Hands down I’d eat at Nic’s over Crossroads anyday. The food is down to earth but expertly made. Tons of flavour and personal service. We went three times while we were here.
Read moreThe prices are reasonable for the quality of food offered and it was easy to find street parking close by. Not sure why many are complaining about the price. Crossroads by comparison is high end and much pricier as dishes are small and you need 2-3 per person. Crossroads is chaotic, loud and less personal but is of course delicious as well.
