M.E. comfort

Long time favorite. Wouldn't argue it's the best middle eastern food in the city but remains a personal favorite, deserves 5 stars

Vegan Options!

I visited Nicholas today for a small bite to eat prior to shopping. I tried the Za'atar fries with complimentary pita bread & had a lovely view from their outside porch. The service was excellent, the portions given the prices were fair, & I noticed quite a few clearly marked vegan options on their menu. I look forward to returning for a full meal!

Mezzmerizing

The Arabian Breeze Mezza provided a mix of foods and was big enough to share. I prefer the plain hummus over the roasted red pepper walnut muhamara, but both were good. The falafel was crispy on the outside. The majadra (brown lentil jasmine rice topped with caramelized onions) was simple, but satisfying. The mezza also included fried cauliflower and caramelized onions mixed with tahini.

Pros: clearly marked vegan options, free pita bread, outdoor seating

Great Restaurant

I have been to Nicholas on Broadway many times over the years. My favorites are the falafel wrap and unlimited pita bread. Unfortunately, the quality can be a bit inconsistent as sometimes the falafel wrap can come out a bit cold. That said, I still really enjoy going to Nicholas and they have a good amount of vegan options.

Pros: Good vegan options, Free pita

Classic Portland, now on Broadway!

From the service to the fresh bread to the in house everything small or large plates to please any palette and preference, this Portland mainstay earns its longevity every time I visit!

Pros: Spinach Pie, Babba Ganush / hummus, Zataar Fries

The Golden Child

I've been going to Nicholas' for years and they're pretty much the Golden standard for me for Mediterranean food. The pita bread is an obsession, love the Turkish coffee, and the vegan mezza.

Pros: Great vegan options well labeled on menu, Affordable , Fast and friendly service

Excellent hummus

Love the food here. The pita and hummus are worth a trip unto themselves, but everything is excellent. While things are marked, it’s not always easy to tell what’s vegetarian vs vegan. Ask the server. Friendly service and a cool location.

Good hummous

I like to get the Veg Mezza bowl with extra hummous. A lot of good flavors but sometimes they forget to add the carmelized onion. Zataar Fries come with a delicious spicy garlic sauce & the cocktail I had was very good, Beirut South.

Pros: Outdoor seating, Vegan options, Lunch bowls

Clearly marked vegan options

The menu options that are vegan are clearly marked with bold red VEGAN YES text, can't miss them. And there are a lot of vegan options, not just a token one or two. Cozy, relaxed atmosphere, but that applies to the service speed as well. The ginormous flatbread and the salad/hummus plate came out slow, and I ended up having to take my wrap to go, it didn't reach the table quick enough to finish during my lunch hour. I'll be back for dinner when I don't have to be someplace after.

Pros: Clearly marked vegan, Large vegan selection

Cons: Service isn't fast
