Almost no vegan options now - Edit
It is the kitchen now not New world. Sad to see the loss of a great vegan friendly restaurant. Choice of vegan $15-$18 side dishes or a veggie burger that you can get at half the price elsewhere.. Way too Expensive and vegans likely will leave hungry. Won’t be back.
Read morePros: Decent ambience, Decent service
Cons: Vegans are relegated to $15-18 side dishes , Cabbage or beets - good but not a meal, Don’t bother - not what it used to be

No decent vegan options now - Edit
I used to love the blue corn encrusted seitan and the spicy charred string beans. No longer on the menu. Under “Veg” they list a dish with prosciutto (pig). Yuck! I won’t be going back

Chef change, a lot less vegan. - Edit
This place used to be my absolute favorite place to go with vegan options. Their old chef left during the pandemic and they have cycled through one more after that. The current menu is just more sparse when it comes to vegan options. There were a few vegan dishes that did actually taste very good though. They had a vegan desert as well when I was there which seems to rotate. The dining experience is more upscale than you would typically get for vegan food and the wait staff is super friendly.

Where'd all the beautiful vegan delights go?! - Edit
Just looked at the menu. They used to have a lot of vegan options. A tofu dish, a seitan dish. Both are gone and replaced by the insulting lazy ass veggie burger? I'm sorry. This place was a great place to go for fine dining on a special occasion. I looked it up to take my daughter as she graduates this weekend and the amazing dishes I was looking to take ger here for are gone. Very disappointing.
Read moreI would have previously given this establishment a rave review. There is nowhere in the Capital Region where you can get vegan fare of the quality I've experienced over the years. Youd have to hit NYC for this quality. That quality no longer exists at this place.
Cons: Poor vegan options

This 100%. Everyone, please ignore past reviews/photos. All of the amazing vegan items have been removed (I believe there's a new chef). You even have to request for the veggie burger to be made vegan. Such a gigantic disappointment.

Great all around dinner! - Edit
Everything about this place was great. Many vegan options including desserts (well they were a little sweet for me).The food was delicious and creative recipes. I was thrilled they use brown rice, non GMO oil and filtered water. Nice beers. Our waitress was excellent and the decor and music also. Would have been perfect if all vegan.

Great quality food - Edit
The vegan dishes aren’t anything inspiring, but they are done very well. Everything was just a normal vegan item, but done with great ingredients. Options clearly labeled, staff seemed knowledgeable. Waitress accidentally brought out Parm, then immediately apologized!

So many choices! - Edit
Something for everyone! We shared the veggie tapas plate and were so pleased with the options. The sweet dates, the creamy hummus and bright beans really rounded out this dish. I had the veggie deluxe burger prepared vegan. Although it was super messy it was sooooo good. The vegan blue cheese was like nothing I’ve ever tasted . I highly recommend a visit when in the Albany area!

1st Time- AMAZING - Edit
Lucky enough to have gone on a “meatless Monday” where they offer a 3 course vegan meal. You can tell that great care and thought went into every single dish. My girlfriend and I were blown away by the appetizers. Best green beans we’ve ever had, and best hummus we’ve ever had. But the entrees were even better.

Always a stop for us! - Edit
My boyfriend and I actually came here on our first date! We’re from the Berkshires and decided to travel the hour to come here. The hummus and babagonush is some of the best we ever had! My boyfriend is a meat eater and on our first date said he would eat vegan for me! I got the Buddha bowl which was good and he had their special that night which was tofu noodle dish. Can’t remember but his was better than mine!! We loved it so much there, that every time we are in the area we come back! The chickpea sweet potato burger is SO good! This place has a seasonal menu which is awesome! The options are always changing and I like that. We had Brussels sprouts chips last time with nutritional yeast! Bomb af. We will be back for sure as always! 😊

Best in the area - Edit
NWBB is a favorite of mine and I take the 45 minute drive from home to eat here for special occasions and basically whenever I can. They recently have started doing meatless Monday's (thenregular menu is still available) but you get a three course vegan/vegetarian meal for $25 which is a great way to get meat eaters involved. I can't help it but my go-to every time is the Blue corn crusted seitan cutlets with mashed yams, black beans and greens with a fried plantain. It is my favorite meal. Get the blackened string beans too! Bring your vegan and non vegan friends me everyone is happy! Also have an awesome brunch!!

spaghetti squash - Edit
At the waiter's recommendation, I ordered the spaghetti squash dish which was absolutely incredible. I don't remember what I almost ordered, but I'm so glad I went with this selection because it was huge, filling, and incredibly tasty. I'd highly recommend it to anyone, vegan or not. Additionally, this place was insanely busy! I was alone and managed to grab one of the last free seats at the bar, but I'd make a reservation if I were to come here again.

Good service and nice atmosphere. - Edit
NWBB had really great and helpful staff. They were very knowledgeable about the menu and able to substitute many things. The vegan options were pretty good. I ordered Seitan "cutlets". The portion was huge so I brought home a whole second meal with my leftovers. I followed it with a vegan brownie with blueberry compote. Overall, delicious and filling. Just be prepared to spend some money because it's on the pricey side.

New Years Eve feast! - Edit
I came here on New Years Eve with some friends. They had a set menu, and I was

I had the candy cane beet tartare on black bread, salad of shaved Brussels sprouts, pomegranate, and red quinoa, and the eggplant braciole. Everything was magnificent! The dirty martini was also made to perfection. If I lived nearby I would definitely frequent this restaurant.

Wonderful! - Edit
I have had several experiences here, and they have gone from bad to alright to good to great...in that order. The sampler appetizer with hummus, grilled veg etc is a wonderful appetizer for a few people or could even be a meal for one or two people. The seitan wings are alright, but they are the only seitan I've ever enjoyed. I usually don't get salads out because I can make a nice salad at home, but the curry vinaigrette on the kale salad is wonderful, as is the blackened tofu it can come with. Now, the entrees change per season, and there are usually only two (although keep in mind the salads and pizzas, even a few appetizers, could easily be enough for a main). The seasonal entrees are usually well thought out and very good, but may not fit the bill- for example, right now they have a veggie burger and a mushroom dish- I don't like mushrooms and was not in the mood for a veggie burger on my last visit. I got the "big plate of brown rice, black beans and seasonal veggies". I have never gotten this before because I didn't want to get a bowl of rice and beans and carrots. I was so pleasantly surprised when my meal came- wonderfully flavored black beans, brown rice, and A BUNCH of awesome veggies- a sweet potato mash with fried plantains on top, asparagus, cajun brussels sprouts, garlicky kale, and the optional tofu. it was amazing. I wish i had known how good the simple beans rice and veggies dish was before; I definitely would get that over a veggie burger any time. Definitely didn't need the tofu with all of those great veggies. Also, I love their mixed drinks, and the service is usually wonderful!! (only once was it bad). Oh, and the olive oil on the table for dipping bread in is so amazing!!! Definitely make a reservation any day of the week.

a great vegan menu at a non-vegetarian restaurant - Edit
Travelling from Boston to Ithaca NY we stopped in Albany at New World Bistro Bar. What a treat, worthy of a night out, not just a travel stop! The "special vegan menu" had many choices, and the three we ordered were great. A middle eastern themed appetizer plate with excellent humus, babaganouge, tofu feta, olives, and pickled vegetables, an entree with the best pureed winter squash I've ever had, asparagus and nicely flavored black beans. The pear sorbet was very nice also.

My new favorite place Upstate - Edit
My boyfriend and I had the an amazing dinning experience here! The place has a funky and cozy decoration, the food was super creative and tasty, all the beer they serve is brewed in NY State, and the waiters were fun/funny/friendly and very competent. Most of the food is locally grown, and seasonal. If they have available, you should eat the apple crumble!!! hummm

AMAZING Vegan Menu! - Edit
The place was packed and would have had a 15 min. wait for seating but they had seats avail. outside if we wanted and the weather was good for mid Sept. so we ate outside. Our waiter was sooo friendly and really knew the menu. They were a ton of interesting vegan options and he could describe all of them... the food was a bit pricey but the quality of the food made it totally worth it. I'm really glad I tried something new! There was a bit of a wait for our entree but they were really really busy so the wait was understandable, and again the quality of the food made it totally worth it.
Read morePros: Amazing food!, Huge selection for vegans!, Adorable, knowledgable & friendly staff!
Cons: A bit off a wait for the food., A little pricier than I'm used to.
