Indian buffet with plenty of clearly marked vegan options - Edit
On a recent trip to Philly I paid a visit to the New Delhi Indian Restaurant for they were featured as having the number 2 Indian buffet in America in a recent article in 2023 by Far and Wide. I had great expectations and luckily they delievered! This year I had the number four Indian buffet in Phoenix called India Palace which was good yet far to access being car-free since the Lyft there and back from my homestay in Phoenix was more than the buffet, In San Francisco aka my current home I went this year to Amber’s India buffet in downtown San Francisco. They were solid for what vegan options they had yet far too many of their offerings contained dairy or were non-veg which was a bummer since I am a longtime vegan of 25 years.
Read moreService was on point and straight forward for a buffet. Ambiance was chill and was an Indian Buffet with some Indian deities along with a nice vibe.
So at the New Delhi Restaurant in Philly I was delighted that there were several clearly marked vegan options on the buffet with the exception of one paneer dish aka dairy, naan which contained dairy, and some non-veg mains.
The clearly named vegan offerings they had were:
Aloo Rajmah curry- kidney beans and potatoes cooked in a mild spiced sauce. I found this solid yet was very liquidy. It could have used more kidney beans and potatoes as was a curry that was a bit soup like.
Masala fries- hot and crisp fries seasoned with Indian spices. These were tasty yet could have been hotter. I arrived at 1pm and buffet started at 11:30am so perhaps this is why.
Basmati rice- lightly seasoned Indian rice. Simple rice that paired nice with the vegan entrees.
Chana Masala- classic chickpea dish with herbs and spices in a medium sauce. These were great. Good flavor and just enough heat yet not overbearing.
Vegetable Samosa- these were tasty and enjoyed two of them
Aloo Gobi Mutter- Cauliflower and potatoes cooked with peas and fresh Indian spices. These were solid.
The vegan entrees I had were paired with three kind of tasty chutneys on the buffet.
All in all a solid Indian buffet that I recommend is head and shoulders above other of the best Indian buffets in America for aforementioned reasons. Check them out!
Pros: Indian buffet with plenty of clearly marked vegan , solid Indian buffet, friendly staff

Baingan Bhartha!!!!! - Edit
Went here the other day with a friend, didn’t realize they would have so many clearly labeled vegan options! The Baingan Bhartha was very, very, very good. We had some other dish that was still good but not as good, can’t remember the name. Samosas were typical, but good.

Delicious! Hit the Spot! - Edit
I ordered my New deli Indian restaurant food through DoorDash. I had the Alu Palak and the Patata-Wada and some Garlic Naan. It was all delicious! I'm vegan and don't like a lot of heat in my food(the spicy type of heat) and this was perfect. Vegan options were marked clearly on the menu too.
Read moreI only wish the containers weren't plastic and styrofoam. It would be nice if they were paper or something more eco friendly.
Pros: Savory and delicious
Cons: Came in plastic and styrofoam

Good food and great vegan options - Edit
This was a good option for my family and me. It gets to be dull when we’re all ordering, and I have to choose between a salad or an Impossible burger. There were several vegan options clearly identified, including a section of the menu dedicated to vegans and vegetarians (Vegetable Corner). I had a vegetable samosa, channa saag (minced spinach with chickpeas), and tandoori paratha (a vegan alternative to naan). Everything was well-seasoned, but it seems the main entrees have a kick to it. You have an option from very mild to extremely spicy. I would suggest starting with very mild and work up from there. The family favorite were the vegetable samosas. I look forward to trying the other vegan options, and I’m glad that I finally found a place for the whole family.

Cons: Items are not labeled during delivery
