Chocolate thunderbolt is the best choc smoothie I’ve ever had - Edit
Love this place! Incredible juices, as well awesome smoothies! The chocolate thunderbolt is hands down the best choc smoothie I’ve ever had! Highly recommend! Also love the apple, ginger and lemon juice in their little to-go fridge, sort of like a ginger lemonade!

Naturewell Anti-Vegan Juice & Smoothies - Edit
Excited to find their google listing with the title "Naturewell Vegan Juice & Smoothies" so I headed out on foot in the heatwave for a vegan juice from a vegan juice bar.
Read moreLooked over the menu and spotted bee pollen and asked about it. Is bee pollen vegan? That's when the staff started picking on me for being a stoopid vegan.
One of em told me in defense that neither were dates (omg vegan gotcha #1) Yeah, I said, but all plants have symbiotic relationships with animals, the distinction is that animals are not the intentional target of human exploitation. If everyone were vegan they'd take care to remove the date fruit without harming the animals too.
Next. Veganism isn't a religion you know? (omg vegan gotcha #2) my favorite is being told what veganism is or isn't by people who don't practice it not at all cringe to hear this. She then went on to say that she used to be vegan for five years. Which definitely qualifies her to know what veganism is or isn't having practiced and rejected it. She then said she was the one who put up the vegan sign in the window. Ok loser, I'm vegan now and have been most of my life, so what? I said maybe to some it isn't a religion but it is an ethical stance against animal exploitation.
That's when she says, but lots of things aren't ethical like coffee picked by exploited workers. (vegan gotcha #3!) That's right I said, there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, that's why as vegans we seek to reduce the exploitation of animals from human capitalistic systems. Human slavery is distinct from veganism and certainly doesn't negate its merits. You don't excuse capitalism by adding animal abuse to it and you certainly don't justify either practice by including it.
We're not a vegan business she then says. Clearly. I said, your sign says out front that you put up yourself says otherwise. Well, we don't have vegan in the name. I double checked their google listing: Naturewell Vegan Juice & Smoothies. Certainly do advertise that way. Why?
Because we have lots of vegan options. You have zero vegan options if you're not a vegan business you have plant based capitalism, greenwashed while misusing the term vegan. Well it is a catchy buzzword these days, is what I'm told and on this point she agreed. I said, that's false advertising also known as fraud-- wished them all a nice day and left without buying anything. You know what veganism for sure is? A boycott of willful animal abusers.
Bye.

Great little juicing place - Edit
FYI this place is not two doors away from Flore anymore since Flore had to move a few blocks down on Sunset when they lost their lease. But anyhow, nature well has great fresh juices and açai bowls. They have some premade meals that are raw as well as having some bulk bins (granola, fig cookies etc)

Great little place for juice and bulk staples - Edit
I had read about this place on happycow, and here's my Naturewell review.
Read moreWhile it's a tiny little shop and juice bar, it's packed with all sorts of food stuff that I like. Extensive bulk bins with all sorts of dried food plus snack food and bars, a complete juice bar, and they even offers wheatgrass and raw vegan ice cream.
The staff I spoke with was friendly, and he told me that Naturewell is owned by the same people who owns Millie's restaurant (a breakfast place in the area, not veg) who also have invested in Mooi (the now defunct raw food cafe in the area).
As far as I can tell, it's all vegetarian. I didn't see any meat products (correct me if I'm wrong).
