My fav vegan chain! - Edit
So sad to see they’ve closed this location! I’ve been to a few others and got to check this one out a while back on a road trip. Amazing as usual! Hope Oregon gets another Native Foods soon!

Weekly Dinner Spot - Edit
The rotating featured dishes and special offers are innovative; cutting edge of the culinary frontier. After a long day of teaching, the Chick Run Ranch or BBQ Brisket Burger are ultimately satisfying. The staff are incredibly caring and polite; the atmosphere is so chill. During a 6 hour recital day, their wraps keep me nourished.

Lots of variety! - Edit
Lots of choices to try, great sweet potato fries and you have got to try the oatmeal whoopie pie - yum! Plus, they make it easy for us to donate to Support + Feed, a non-profit charitable organization, that provides nourishing, plant-based meals for children and families, seniors, homeless and domestic abuse shelters, food banks, and LGBTQ+ centers in marginalized communities.

This is by far one of my favorite restaurants. We make a stop here every time we are up north. I highly suggest the oatmeal cookies and the chicken wings.

The Tragic Decline of the Original Vegan Fast Casual Restaurant Chain - Edit
It saddens me to leave this review for several reasons: 1. I don't like to disparage any vegan business. 2. I used to love Native Foods and to see the steady decline in quality over the years breaks my heart. 3. I'll never be able to eat the OG Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger again.
Read moreBefore they expanded, no trip to Southern California was complete without a visit to Native Foods. They consistently served up appetizing vegan fare that was satisfying and tasty. When they first opened in Oregon I was a regular at this location. But soon after, things started changing.
First, they reformulated some of their recipes. The Nachos got a makeover with a different cheese sauce that was far inferior to the original. What used to be one of the best nachos anywhere were now some of the worst. And the Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger, one of the best sandwiches on earth (because it's technically not a burger, not that it mattered), was now just your average seitan sandwich.
Then there were issues with the service that resulted in items arriving cold. Sometimes I'd sit and watch as plates sat on the pass for 5 minutes or more while the servers ran around trying to keep up. I'd have to get up and ask for a replacement because by the time the food arrived, it was no longer hot. This became a regular occurrence.
On my last visit, I decided to try the Barbecue Bowl from the summer menu. The cauliflower was good, but the rest of the bowl was just OK and the mac & cheese was downright nasty. Overcooked macaroni with hardly any sauce that seemed like it had been sitting around since the day before. Even the worst school cafeteria would have been embarrassed to serve that.
So it's safe to say that Native Foods has seen the last of me. At this point I put them in the same category as Chipotle: Not a place I'll go to when there are other half decent vegan choices nearby, but if I were in some small town with no other vegan options, it's probably better than nothing. But if I had to choose between the two, I might choose Chipotle.

I completely agree that this place has had a terrible downfall in the last few months and is nothing like it use to be. The food is now awful with all the "new improvements" to the recipes. Not to mention the portions are almost invisible and half of the order is always missing.

And down it fell - Edit
Updated review:
Read moreThis place use to be wonderful. But in the last few months they have changed everything. The burgers (which are now a gimme lean pressed sausage patty and is gooey and never warm) are horrible. They said the original recipe is back only to find out it is not and they lied replacing it with gimme lean sausage pressed into a cold patty. If you customize it they will leave off everything.
Here is an example of some of the changes:
Burger patty is totally different replaced with a cold not cooked pressed sausage patty.
Ordered a BBQ burger. Arrived stone cold missing bbq sauce, onion ring, lettuce. It was a cold patty in a bun with two pickles. Not worth $12.50. The side of kale was 1 tiny piece, just 1 and no longer comes with lemon or sesame sprinkles.
We use to eat here twice a week and I have tried most of the things on the menu and each item is totally different than before. Nothing about this place is what it use to be and I can not recommend it to anyone.

So good and fairly priced. I think this may be a bucket list vegan place for Portland visitors. It's got a fast food vibe like veggie grill but a much more diverse menu and priced better. Cali burrito is great!

Vegan comfort food - Edit
Native is awesome if you want a no frills, heavy, vegan comfort meal. The menu is primarily meat substitute driven. Some are A and others are pretty standard. Ironically I found the “chicken” patty way too similar to actual chicken it made me gag lol. So both a pro and con! This is the type of vegan place you could take your non vegan dad and he would still enjoy a burger or something.

Everything I’ve had here is off the charts! This place blew my mind! Excellent! - Edit
I don’t live anywhere near this place, but anytime I’m headed to Portland this is a frequent stop! I’ve had the fish and chips tacos with chipotle (I think it was a special), the orange “chicken”, “chicken” sandwich and a few other things that I’ve shared with friends. I’ve NEVER been disappointed! Keep up the good work!

BBQ sauce has honey in it - Edit
I love supporting vegan restaurants. That being said, Native Foods relies HEAVILY on mock meats, I completely get that they are trying to appeal to non-vegans as well which, again, I appreciate. It’s just something to know if mock meats aren’t really your thing. The big thing that throws me off of this restaurant is the fact that there is honey in their BBQ sauce and there is no disclosure of the fact. There are far better vegan restaurants in downtown Portland but if you’re in this part of town it’s a fine option, just avoid the BBQ sauce if you don’t support bee exploitation.

Wow Amazing Vegan Chain - Edit
We were so amazed at this restaurant. We love that it was near the mall, very accessible and that it is a chain.
Read moreThey also have a cookbook which is awesome, especially if like us you don't live in the area.
The prices were reasonable and the portion size was large.
We arrived on Valentines day for dinner. It was quite busy but we were helped in a reasonable amount of time and customer service was good.
Oatmeal cream cookie sandwich: A good sized cookie. It was really yummy. I think I would have preferred a different filling but it was still nice.
Mac n cheese: We both got this as a side to our burgers. We seem to constantly be disappointed by vegan Mac n cheese. Sadly this time was no different. The Mac n cheese had a nice 'aged' flavor, but it was super watered down, so much so that the cheese was like soup. I'm not sure why places have such a tough time offering vegan mac n cheese that is decent. There are so many great options on blogs and we've made several great recipes at home.
Cherry Chocolate BBQ Burger: This was kind of like a smokey BBQ with cherry flavor. The 'bacon' was nice on this burger. Overall it was nice but we'd probably order something else next time.
Jalepeno Burger: Wow amazing! This was not too spicy. The ranch had great flavor and so did the vegan burger. The pretzel bun was delicious and really tied everything together.
Lavender lemonade: We tried all of their fresh drinks but liked this the best. It is nice that they have such an array of healthy flavored drinks.
*We love that they use Follow Your Heart cheese rather than Daiya.
*We loved that they used a pretzel bun, we've found many locations don't pay much attention to the bun.
Pros: Chain restaurants , Delicious burgers , Have a cookbook

Delicious - Edit
This was the first all vegan place we've been to, so we didn't really have many expectations. Everything tasted amazing. They guy at the counter was very helpful with suggestions and gluten free options. The restaurant as was clean, and service was very fast. We had the Baja Tacos, Brisket Burger, and Curry bowl. All tasted so great. We also got 3 desserts: cupcake, brownie and caramel brownie. All were GF and so tasty. I would highly recommend coming here to anyone
