Best Vegan Fast Food Chain - Edit
Native Foods is my go-to for vegan fast food. Everything I have had there has been good, and the price is pretty reasonable. It certainly does not have the most healthy options, but for a quick burger, wrap or other typical fast food item, it can't be beat in Chicago.

Fast Food for the Vegan Soul - Edit
We stopped by while waiting for a flight and I’m glad we did! I got the cauliflower po’ boy, my husband got the BBQ brisket burger, and my sister got the BBQ chicken salad. There was a misunderstanding over my sister’s nut allergy and the staff quickly fixed it. We wish there were more locations around the country so everyone has access to it!

Vegan Burgers and Fries - Edit
This place is great for vegan "junk food"--huge burgers and delicious fries! Very filling. I always complete my meal with their lavender lemonade and oatmeal creme pie!

Nice place good food - Edit
I had the special which was a Jalapeño Chick’n burger in a maple donut bun, it was good but didn’t pack a punch as I expected, potato salad is very tasty and it’s not a bad price, all in all I’d go back.

A little bit of everything - Edit
I used to go to this chain all the time growing up, but they got rid of their Portland branch a few years ago, so I was excited to try it again! Had a lot of similar menu items as I remember, and a bunch of new stuff. All kinds of food.

Awesome vegan food! Whole place is 100% vegan. Reasonable prices. Orange Cauliflower bowl was so good! The Chicken run ranch was also phenomenal! Great cookie for desert! Nice staff, quick service, fun decor, highly recommend.

Beautifully Crafted and Delicious - Edit
The menu has a nice variety of food styles and influences. Convenient location for public transit, close to some very popular neighborhoods and events. I’m not always a fan of meat substitutes, but they do make everything in house and fresh. I had the cauliflower chickpea shawarma which was wonderful! I’ll be back and ready to explore the menu more!

Great options and staff - Edit
We stopped here before a show at the Vic. I got a bowl and soup and my bf got a meatball sandwich. I thought the food was great and the dessert (peanut butter option) was also tasty. The lady at the counter was friendly and open to sub quinoa for the jasmine rice. She also gave candid feedback about selections - for example if spicy. Overall great find with a very casual (order at the counter) vibe.

AMAZING Food (But...) - Edit
I deducted one star because Native Foods is not transparent about their nutrition info. As a chain restaurant with standardized recipes, they have the ability to release nutritional information, but choose not to.
Read moreThat said... The food is AH-MAY-ZING. The number one benefit of this restaurant is its vegan "junk food." If you miss pleasure-centric foods like a brisket burger topped with onion rings and fistfuls of vegan cheese, Native Food ensures you can still treat yourself. (And don't forget the moan-out-loud desserts.) That said, they also have amazing, tasty healthful dishes like Buddha bowls and your standard chickpea/quinoa/kale concoctions.
The atmosphere is very relaxed. This is a counter service place, meaning you order at the counter rather than receive table service. (Remember, in the U.S. it's still standard practice to tip $1-2 per item when ordering at a counter.)
I've tested this place on my non-vegan significant other, who gave it two thumbs up and came back for more without my prompting.
Pros: Delicious "junk food", Relaxed atmosphere, High protein options
Cons: No nutrition info

Vegan Fast Food - Edit
This is my go to vegan “junk food” or takeout place. I love the seasonal dishes - the fact that the menu rotates is huge! Also, their desserts are delicious and they have a great rewards program. One downside is that the food does not travel well.

Spicy Food Found - Edit
This place specializes in spicy cauliflower. They have some of the best that I’ve ever had and could ever make. They also had a nice recipe on the wall for kabobs. I also had the Buddha bowl which was great as well.

My go to vegan joint - Edit
I get takeout from Native Foods about once a week. If you go fairly often it is worth getting the app as it makes ordering easy & you earn points. I LOVE the Thai Brussel sprouts, get them with a side of ranch. My go to is the twister wrap with sweet potato fries or the Buddha bowl. I will admit I have tried a few things that are just okay like the soul bowl & mac n cheese. Overall good vegan food with changing seasonal options.

mediocre - Edit
my food was pretty good. however, my girlfriend’s food came out much cooler than my own. as if it was cooked completely before mine was started. the “seasoned” fries are pretty bland.

Not only is the food delicious, when my order took longer than expected the chef apologized, gave me a free cookie and refunded the cost of my meal. She didn’t have to do that. I was surprised and appreciative. Best vegan food in Lakeview!

Another great vegan option in Chicago - Edit
100%, no guilt vegan! It was late on a Friday night and they were about the close. I had just ridden 9 miles on a Divvy bike long the lake and was STARVING! Lost track of time so I had to scramble to find somewhere (vegan of course) to eat. Happy Cow provided several good options but this one stuck out. The woman at the register who took my order was super chill and helped me pick something ( I was confused because everything looked great). She suggested the “Soul Bowl” which was BBQ fried ‘Chicken’ (tofu), beans, veggies and cornbread. OMG... it really did taste like fried chicken, the BBQ sauce was great and the cornbread really did taste like freak’n cornbread!!!

Milton and Sam took care of me!
Read moreFirst time here. I walk in between auditions. Also a little hungover from the night before. I decide to have their chicken and waffles. Waffle machine down?! Oh no! No biggie. 😊
Milton learning of my condition recommends their BBQ bacon cheese burger. I accept the recommendation. With the dill potato salad in the side. DELICIOUS! And, for the flip flop tummy Kombucha (thanks Milton, that really helped).
Sam brought out the food. And it was quick! She was friendly and sincere with not just myself but with all the surrounding customers. Found out she's from New York. They lost a good one to Chicago. 😉
There is plenty of seating in a open like space. Atmosphere was nice and clean.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience. The food was great and filling. And the service was impeccable.
I highly recommend!
