Tasty Indian Food!!

ningI've gone here several times (but always forget the take pictures before I absolutely destroy my meal lol). But it has been so good everytime! Just order your naan without butter if you are vegan. Also, if you are sensitive to spicy food heed their warning about spice levels! It gets SPICY.

Good portions, repetitive veggies

My parents and I visited around noon for lunch. We sampled the following dishes, which seemed to use the same corn+carrot+peas vegetable offerings in the same creamy base and were mostly indistinguishable. Water is not free. The basmati rice was good. I would have desired more distinction between the dishes, or just eliminate redundant offerings.

Aloo Tikki - very good, with cream chutney
Daal Makhani - a characteristic black lentil flavor, in a creamy base
yellow daal - great
Mixed Vegetable Jalfrezi - corn+carrot+peas in a creamy base
Veg Korma - corn+carrot+peas in a creamy base
Dal Shorba Soup - watery, and similar to yellow daal

The portions were great, and it seems to be appropriately fresh. I recommend a visit for veggie eaters around Chesterton, and I will probably return.

Pros: Portions, value

Cons: menu redundancy, no broccoli in the Korma or Jalfrezi

The Daal Makhani has dairy in fyi. I have tried to order it vegan but any of their cream base use dairy cream. Yellow daal, nd the yellow daal soup is my standby here but I always remind them no ghee.

Great Food Great Vibes

They have Indian dishes you can't get elsewhere..certainly not in northwest Indiana..like:

Nargisi Kofta
finally chopped lotus root dumpling in a saffron onion cheese sauce (ask vegan sauce or just get the dumplings they're amazing)

Bhindi Do Piszza
Okra with browned onions and dried mango

Aloo parantha (potato) and pudhina paraatha (mint)
these are like yummy veggie breads, just try them

They also have all the regular Indian dishes you're used to.

The restaurant itself is nothing fancy. In fact, it’s a quirky dive of a place which I love! The food is great, the people are awesome and the price is right.

If you’re road tripping on I-94, this place is just off the highway. Take the exit for Route 49 south.

Amazing!! Authentic!!

The decor is a late seafood place— but the food is AMAZING I spent a month in India and this food takes me right back. Authentic and delicious!

Surprisingly good!

This is a great addition to Chesterton! The outside looks a little sketchy because it is located in an old Long John Silvers, but I can assure you the food is top notch.
