My very first visit to Boston was way back when, with my late parents and included a stay at the Sheraton Boston as well as a visit to Fenway Park (my dad was a NY Yankees fan - don't ask - LOL) I took a literal stroll down memory lane and even ended up riding the very same green line of the "T" I rode back then, so many memories came rushing back. I thought it appropriate to go back to the very first Vegan restaurant I'd tried in Boston (of course, many years later, as I hadn't adopted a Vegan lifestyle until 2007,) so here I was back at My Thai Vegan Cafe. I ordered the Steamed Dumpling appetizer Beef with Broccoli, or as the server refers to it, "the 1, 2, 3" as it's #123 on the menu - he's a real comedian. 😀 Food was served up quickly, was fresh and tasty. I'd forgotten how good this place is!

LOVED this place! Food is so good, the lo mein was amazing. Walking in we were apprehensive at first based off the look from the outside/ waking upstairs but that’s why you should never judge a book by it’s cover. 10/10 would come back for sure! Highly recommend😊

I don’t usually leave reviews but this place was all around ‘not great’. The restaurant as a whole is quite dirty but fine, I can deal w a little dirty if the food is authentic and delicious. But, sadly, as much as I wanted to like this place, the food is flavorless, oily and overall, very underwhelming. I would pass on this spot if you have other available options.

I based my choice of dish on the pics on happycow and landed on the pad see we with veggie beef. The menu had a vast range of options in which you could further customise the dishes by choosing the 'meat' you wanted for them. They also had sharing platters as well. I really enjoyed the food as it was nicely flavoured and arrived quickly to my table.

We tried the birds nest dish and the veggie sea food dish and asked for the hot sauce on the side instead of in the dish and both dishes were great. 2 dishes are a perfect amount for two people. About 25$ per dish currently.

I was actually overwhelmed with all of the options, and the food came out beautifully presented and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. They use a bajillion veggies and don’t hold out on the spice. Great spot to grab a nice dinner. Signs to climb the stairs are well marked.

My mom and I went and ordered two different noodle dishes that were both bland and tasted exactly the same, except with small amounts of different vegetables. Not much flavor and overly greasy, although the dumplings that came with the lunch portion were edible. The food was also insanely overpriced. I was looking forward to a vegan Thai place, and the space was super cute, but the food was a huge disappointment.

The space has real potential, the food came quickly and the staff were nice. Unfortunately, the chefs missed an opportunity to show Boston that delicious Thai food needn't contain meat. The food was bland, oily, and painfully expensive. I have no problems paying a fair amount for good food, but this experience made me feel like a dupe.

My Thai Vegan Cafe - Edit
Arrived in Boston quite late and this was one of the only vegan places still open. I’d noted the very mixed reviews but having had nothing to eat all day went with an order from My Thai. I had the Cashew Nut Chick’n - bland, did not like the faux chick’n which was a weird texture and thin sliced, and it also came with loads of bell peppers in despite letting them know to leave these out. I also got the chick’n fingers - can only concur with the other reviews that mention super greasiness, I couldn’t eat more than two without feeling queasy and the oil tasted old. The sauce they came with, no idea what it was as it doesn’t say on the menu, was not great either and appeared almost watered down. The menu is huge but would seem there are issues with food quality that many people have mentioned here and on Google, now having tried it myself I’d agree with them.

Read moreYes, there is a smoke smell in the SHARED stairwell to go upstairs. However, once you enter the restaurant everything is very clean. They have a ton of options and then a $11.50 lunch special which I had today for the first time! I got the mango curry lunch special.
The food is excellent, huge portions even for the lunch menu, and the staff are always really nice and helpful. They may leave you to your own devices more than other places, but it's not out of rudeness. I have loved everything I've had over the years - several different types of curries, noodle dishes, you name it. Their bubble tea and dessert are great too though I didn't have any today.

I can’t even give it 2 stars for being vegan… Maybe I’m so pissed because the reviews and pictures are fantastic, and in stark contrast to the bland, meager portions my partner and I were dished. Even the water was crap. The whole place was dirty and the cigarette stanking disgusting stairwell leading up should’ve been a red flag. I returned my tea cup, which had a brown film. The waitstaff was friendly, although they never checked back after serving the food. Appetizers and mains were served simultaneously and within 5 minutes of ordering, certainly not made to order and not hot. Not cheap either.

There are so many dishes to choose from and out of the tofu dishes, our server recommended the tofu and vegetables. The sauce was delicious (sweet but not too sweet), I would definitely go back for that dish.
