The smells lured me in! - Edit
I'd been thinking of trying here for a while and then the beautiful smells ticed me in! I had a samosa chaat with no yogurt, some rice and a tandoori roti. I'd wanted a coffee but they didn't have plant milk so I had lychee juice instead.
Read moreThey were nice to me and allowed me to sit as I'd not booked and it was prime time and I was on my own.
It gave me such great flashbacks to being in India and I hope to return again to have a main course.
Pros: Incredible flavours, Filling and authentic , Could make some veggie options vegan
Cons: No plant milk for a cuppa , No vegan lassi, Serves meat

Curry! - Edit
Stopped here with my sister for some tea before a serial killer talk at the Fire Station. We ate early and it was quiet. I wasn't feeling well so instead of my usual vat of booze and shame, I hit the mocktail menu and wasn't disappointed - I recommend the pink memsaab which is plum and pomegranate with some super tart raspberries. My sister had an alcoholic cocktail (Mumbai Memoirs) and said that was really nice as well. Despite thinking cauliflower is the saddest excuse for a vegetable, I'm a bit of a fiend for anything cauliflower wing related so I started with cauliflower Manchurian. I didn't really fancy anything lentil-y, and I have a serious aversion to a certain vegetable in the other vegan curry so I ordered the Harappa smoked aubergine, even though I'm not a fan of aubergine. It was absolutely delicious. I don't know if this is just me being a white person who can't cook particularly well, but the aubergine was greener than I'd usually expect and it wasn't slimy at all. Really delicious - would order again. We shared some chips and rice. My sister had a meat dish which she assured me was great, so this is a good option in Sunderland if you're in a group of vegans and non vegans.

Indelhibly Good - Edit
Great to see My Delhi open a modern new branch in Sunderland at the old Mowbray Park hotel premises. Vegan choice is great including delicious onion bhajis prepared without egg as standard. I also shared the succulent cauliflower Manchurian starter and had the sensational super tasty Harappa smoked aubergine curry as my main with rice and spicy cha cha fries. Hope this place does well, it deserves too.

The food was beautifully presented and full of flavour.

Pros: Great tasting vegan food, Reasonably priced, Friendly atmosphere
Cons: More vegan options would be good

Delhi Delights - Edit
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here where we were treated to an outstanding feast of authentic Indian street food. From the clearly labelled menu, we shared the onion bhaji, cauliflower manchurian, punjabi dal tadka, harappa smoked aubergines with rice and tandoori roti. Firstly, it's always great to be able to order an onion bhaji and this dish certainly didn't disappoint. Perfectly cooked and extremely tasty with a delicious sauce. The cauliflower manchurian was also very flavoursome and well spiced. The stars of the show though were the dal and smoked aubergines, which were quite simply stunning with such depth of flavour and perfectly spiced. Add a glass of pinot noir and you've got yourself a fantastic night. Staff and atmosphere were great and I cant wait to visit again. #Veganuary

few vegan options but all are nice - Edit
there is conflicting information between the allergen menu, online take away and restaurant menu so hopefully they will address that to make it more clear which options are suitable for vegans. for example some of the menus indicated one of the naan was vegan but the other menus said it contained dairy.
