Serves meat, vegan options available. Casual dining restaurant with vegan options for dumplings, wontons and pot stickers. Open Tue-Thu 5:00pm-9:00pm, Fri 12:00pm-10:00pm, Sun 12:00pm-9:00pm.
The first time I came here I ordered the veganised Dan Dan Noodle and was served meat.
The second time I had a long drawn out conversation with not one, not two, but three of the staff who work here before it became very clear that they have no idea what the difference between vegan and vegetarian is. I kept asking for vegan 'dish' then being told 'yes, vegetarian?'. It seems that the Dan Dan noodles are not egg noodle though so the vegetarian version should by default be vegan too. At least as far as I could tell.
The food however is great.
It's a pain, but you do have to go through the whole tired rigmarole of listing off 'no egg, no dairy, no meat', even though the menu acknowledges that there are vegan and vegetarian options.
There’s a lot of options to choose from and it’s all meant for sharing. I’ve eaten everything vegan on the menu and I definitely recommend the munchy monk dumplings and the vegan Dan Dan noodles. Would love to see more options added as the offerings are all quite similar.
Going here is an awesome option with people who aren’t vegan as they’re very approachable vegan dishes. Most of my friends absolutely love it!
Quite pricey for what it is and the menu rarely changes therefore the options can get a little repetitive but will always return
Visited here with a non-veg family friend tonight and ordered the vegetarian version of the Dan Dan noodles. The menu says it's vegetarian but it's also vegan as well.
Really liked how well the noodles soaked up the gravy! The heat doesn't hit your tastebuds straightaway but lingers once it does. I think they could have been a bit more generous with the toppings though, considering there was no difference in price between the veg and non-veg noodles. I also think that asking between $14-15 for 7 dumplings is pricey.
Having said that, it's definitely a solid option. Munchy Monk might be one of those places where the menu is better designed for sharing a bit of everything.

Pros: At least one vegan option for each menu section
Cons: Pricey!
