We were excited to try it here. We walked in, hostess was so aloof and rude, restaurant was empty (should have been a warning), were begrudgingly seated - and right next to a table of two women. I had to get up and move because they had ordered some type of seafood and it smelled so badly I nearly threw up. I wanted to leave right then but my husband was hungry so we stayed “for chips and guacamole.” I was sad when I learned the only “veggie” options were fake meats. I don’t like fake meats. We left and never came back.

Oh so worth it! - Edit
Yes, this restaurant is a bit more expensive than the typical Mexican restaurant in Asheville; however, the food and service are outstanding. It is worth every penny. They were unusually accommodating to my dietary requests (no oil vegan) and the results were excellent, far better than run-of-the-mill Mexican. If you are all about the food, this place is for you. The gracious service is guacomole on the taco!

The menu is easily veganized, and the vegan enchiladas are great. They have really good cocktails, too. The one downside is that everything is very pricy, even by downtown AVL standards. Not 100% sure a dinner for two is worth the sixty-ish dollars we’ve paid.

Vibrant restaurant with good options - Edit
Based on reviews on HappyCow I went to this restaurant with my non-vegan friends. I was happy to see several vegan things on the menu, and even happier when I heard that almost all dishes can be made into a vegan version. Very good! Also very good drinks.

delicious ‘chicken’ alternative - Edit
Man this place is really good. The staff are knowledgeable about vegan dishes. They had a vegan enchilada listed on the menu, but several of the other dishes can be altered like the tacos and the fajitas (we went back twice!). Also their cocktails are high quality and you can tell the head bartender knows what he is doing.

Great Food and Space - Edit
I went to Mountain Madre with some friends. I was the only vegan in the group. I had the tacos with the vegan No Evil Foods Chicken. My dinner was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable on the needs of a vegan which I appreciate. They even had some really great vegan desserts including a thin mint dessert that everyone at the table enjoyed.

Some Delicious Vegan Options - Edit
Had dinner here and the vegan enchiladas were delish! Also enjoyed the wine list and chips and salsa sampler. Great atmosphere on the back patio and an extensive tequila/mezcal menu if you are into that. They also had a vegan dessert for the win!
