Pleasant cafe with lovely view - Edit
We visited in September and unfortunately they were working with reduced hours due to illness, so we weren't able to have lunch there as we'd planned. However, we'd heard such good things from HappyCow that we made an effort to have coffee and cake there and we weren't disappointed.
Read moreThe view of the distant Cairngorms is outstanding, the place itself is cosy and inviting, the staff are friendly and the cake is delicious. We'll be back for lunch!
Pros: Amazing view, Lovely cake, Cosy atmosphere
Cons: Reduced opening hours (but not their fault)

Great spot for breakfast - Edit
My wife (vegetarian sausage and eggs brekkie) and I (strawberry and rhubarb vegan porridge) went to the Mountain Cafe for breakfast. We were delighted with the quality of the food and the service, the staff is really nice and gladly answers any doubt you may have. A big plus is the fact that they have vegan substitutes for you to choose from if you want to make a regular dish vegan. The view is also a plus.

Good portions, expect to wait - Edit
We wanted to have lunch here but had to wait an hour for a table, so we decided to opt for take out. We had the veggie burger mad vegan, which was really good! Huge portions as well.

Busy cafe & bakery with delicious food - Edit
This is a great cafe with a surprising New Zealand twist (the head chef/founder is from there) and great veggie/vegan options, including a useful key on the menu for Vegetarian, Vegan, Dairy Free, Wheat Free, and Gluten Free. We went on a Tuesday morning in July and it was packed, which slowed down the service a great deal, but the staff were friendly and the food was delicious. Also don't miss the bakery, which besides all the delicious baked goods contains an array of New Zealand snacks/candies.

Vegan options are incredible - Edit
There aren't loads, but certainly enough vegan options to merit a high rating. The food quality here is EXCEPTIONAL, and is created by a very highly rated chef. I had the all day breakfast, expecting the sausages to be typical shop-bought, instead they were these beautiful home made cutlets. My wife's falafel and tabbouleh sandwich was an absolute beast, with a zesty flavour.

Lovely cafe with beautiful views and super friendly and helpful staff. I thought the food was quite expensive but when it arrived I realised why - so many flavours and so much deliciousness!

Be careful if you have allergens - Edit
We absolutely loved our meals!!! ...when they finally arrived correctly. We ordered 2 adult vegan breakfasts and 2 kids vegan breakfasts. Only 1 of each came vegan and we had to wait for the other 2 to be remade. My toast came out gluten free, even though gluten free never left my mouth lol! I kept it though, and it was very tasty. But they truly do understand the difference, there was just a miscommunication between the waitress and the kitchen. They fixed it quickly and comped our drinks. And the food was FABULOUS! I highly recommend this place! A beautiful view as well. Breakfast menu only has the vegan breakfast and vegan porridge served 8:30-11:30; lunch menu 11:30-close (the vegan breakfast place is on the lunch menu!!). There are also a couple of vegan baked goods on the counter (today there were brownies and a fruit cake.)

Best breakfast ever! - Edit
We visited on a Sunday morning and thank goodness we arrived early (8.30am) as the place was soon full to bursting with people queueing for tables or being turned away. We soon found out why! The vegan breakfast (on the menu as the vegetarian breakfast but they can make it vegan if you ask when ordering) was absolutely delicious and honestly the best breakfast I have ever had. It includes potato, courgette and chive rostis, which are gorgeous, and every element was cooked and presented perfectly. Definitely the best cafe in Aviemore.

fantastic - Edit
Plenty of options for vegans here and the staff are very accommodating. I had the bean Burger and fries, huge portion and absolutely delicious. there are two cake options for vegans on the day I am here too. I wish happy cow would let me rate places like this 5, even though they serve meat. We cannot reasonably expect all restaurants to go vegan, it would be bad for business and mean great places like this may not exist. the place was busy every day we came and always people waiting to get a table. brilliant!

Delicious vegan cakes, flat whites and beautiful views of the mountains! - Edit
We were camping near by and never thought we would be able to find vegan cakes in such a small town. Not only did we find vegan cakes we found the best soy flat whites made the proper way! Amazing place, with the most amazing views of the mountains. Our waitress was so lovely too, she was really knowledgeable and so friendly! I think she had red hair and a bandana so if you ever see this thanks for being awesome! Would leave five stars if happy cow would allow it.

Would travel miles out of my way to eat here!! - Edit
Great menu whatever your food preference. I am vegan and had lots to choose from.
Read moreThe presentation of the food is beautiful and it tastes fab. The Cafe is upstairs in a very pleasant building with stunning views over the Cairngorm mountain range and the staff presented themselves as friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
Overall, this is my favourite place to eat in the UK - the only bad thing is that it's around 500 miles away from where I live!!
Pros: Many nice vegan options, Meat, non-meat, gluten free options, Fantastic location with stunning views
Cons: May need to wait for a table
