The stew 😍 - Edit
Busy place - booking advised. Looks to have a great vibe inside. We hadn’t booked but were able to sit outside, which soon filled up.

Best place to come with a diverse group - Edit
Offer great variety of cuisines and portray very good options for Belgian cuisine. My favourite is the vegan stew "stoofvlees". Often come where when friends from abroad come over. Cocktails are great too!

Great vegan options - Edit
It’s a travel themed restaurant with a cool interior to match. They have quite a few vegan options and because of the theme these are from different cuisines ie Flemish stew, Moroccan tagine, tacos, Lebanese salad. They even have a vegan cheesecake for dessert. I got the vegan stew and it was delicious, as was the dragon in the clouds cocktail. If I came back to Ghent I’d definitely visit again.

Great Jackfruit Taco's & Cozy Interior - Edit
It was a very cute spot with a cozy interior and a separate terrace on the other side. They also had a few rooms that were tailored to traditional middle-eastern cultures. A few very nice vegan options, I enjoyed the Jackfruit Taco's a lot and I'm often quite critical of how Jackfruit is prepared!

Leuke plek! - Edit

Best dining experience in Ghent - Edit
A restaurant in Ghent with somewhat attentive service? Get out of here!
Read moreJoking aside...we had a lot of fun here. The food was excellent. I would give it 5 stars if HappyCow would allow it. The food had actual seasoning in it. The vegan stew and croquettes were dynamite. We loved Mosquito Coast.

Vegan stew - Edit
This place is larger than you would expect. My friends and I had a table upstairs. I went for the vegan stew and was not disappointed (I mean, how could you be disappointed when you get vegan croquettes and vegan mayonaise?)

Best place in Ghent to go with omni's! They have 2 vegan dishes: the seitan stew (sooooo good!!!) and the "pulled porc" taco's (also very good), there are also some other vegetarian dishes veganizable and everything is very well labeled on the menu.

Good place - Edit
They usually have several vegan options and they taste great. Good if there are also meat eaters in your company, but there are definitely a lot of places in Ghent that offer better vegan food.

Good atmosphere! - Edit
Another place that’s hard to rate. Mosquito Coast is a huge travel-themed place with a large choice of international dishes but very little vegan choices. I had the vegan seitan stew, which I didn’t like. I wanted to try it to eat something "typical Belgian"… but the sauce with dark beer was rather disgusting, in my opinion. Anyway, in general this is a nice place, they can also veganise other dishes. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere was good. Also have a good selection of Belgian beers. This is a restaurant and a bar in one – so you could also go there just for some cocktails/drinks and small snacks. The food is rather expensive.

Not the best "stoverij" - Edit
Friendly staff immediately recognized us as being vegan (I was wearing a hoodie with the vegan logo on it), and we received a summery of all vegan dishes and dishes that could be made vegan. I had my mind set on the "stoverij" for many months.

One of my favourite places in Ghent - Edit
I have been to this place more times than I can remember, and I've never been disappointed.
Read moreTheir menu might not look super vegan-friendly at first sight, but if you ask the amazing staff, they will be able to tell you which dishes are vegan and which vegetarian dishes can be veganised. So don't hesitate to ask!
I adore their portobello mushroom burger with guacamole ("MacMariachi"), but they also often serve vegan suggestions (as one of their staff members is a vegan).
This travel-themed café and restaurant has a great, relaxed vibe and is often very busy (so if you have the opportunity, try to book a table in advance to be sure). They also have a courtyard and a terrace in the front. Highly recommended!
Pros: Great atmosphere, Delicious food, very varied, Considerate and friendly staff
Cons: Can get very busy (and a bit noisy), Not the cheapest (but great value)

Seitan stew and portobello burger - Edit
This is from a visit at the end of 2016.
Read moreThe seitan stew with croquettes (17€ - which is is bit overpriced) is vegan.
Some of the other vegetarian dishes can easily be veganised (eg the portobello burger).
Nice food.
It is more a pub style restaurant than a ‘restaurant’, and not so good comfort (wooden chairs, small tables).
Also a stuffed zebra head on the wall ...
Large terraces at the back (and also one in front).
Service was very friendly.

Pros: seitan stew dish, 3 terraces
Cons: stuffed zebra head, comfort
