Circular, local and great for fine dining - Edit
We’ve been here a few times and really like the experience. Great, original flavours and textures, presented in an artistic way. I especially like their less well-known ingredients, because I never use them myself.
Read moreAlso, their alcoholic beverages (like Dornfelder red wine, Dutch whiskey and Dutch kombucha) are great.
The waitress/co-owner is really good as well. She is serviceable in a balanced way (not pushy or aloof). I also love their focus on circular and local products.

A must for a premium foraged vegan dining experience - Edit
This meal was a 4 hour sensory experience. 7 beautiful plates that threw up some unexpected flavours.
Read moreI enjoyed most of them though the Pre-dessert was a little challenging (a bit too savoury for me but I respected the process).
Bella had great knowledge of wines and we enjoyed some excellent bottles of orange wine.
Food was priced reasonably, wine was expensive.
Really filling meal!!

On par with de Waaghals, but completely vegan - Edit
I had my reservations (no pun intended) because the flavours look randomly thrown together on the menu, but upon trying them, everything fits very well and is really well presented. There was just one sauce that had too much turmeric for my liking. Bella knows her onions when it comes to wine and has picked out a pairing for each dish, but I'm a swine before pearls when it comes to wine so I just assume she's done well in that regard. I'd recommend it if you don't mind splashing out a bit.

Absolutely fantastic - Edit
It's been a favourite for a long time, and our latest visit was simply fantastic. We chose five courses and had paired wines.

The wines and service are also excellent.

A MUST TRY FOR ALL VEGAN/PLANT BASED EATERS - Edit
IF YOU ARE VEGAN/PLANT BASED AND HAVE THE FUNDS THIS IS A MUST TRY EXPERIENCE !
Read moreI have never written a happy cow review, but I felt compelled after the most extraordinary dining experience of my whole life. Ensure you read that it’s a slow dining experience before going, and brace yourself for the most wonderful 2.5 hrs of your life (this was for 6 courses as well as two extra taster courses free of charge!)
The whole restaurant was ran just by Morris and Bella and all the love, creativity and talent was shown in every dish, its explanation and its taste. Despite being the fine dining experience, there was a no judge in the atmosphere, which as someone who has never been to fine dining restaurant and was wearing crocs just made this experience more special.
I have never had food like it, and it’s opened my eyes to new food as someone who’s been vegan for 7 years.
Bella, a big thank you to you for running after me after I left my hat and sunglasses too, she ran a whole block to make sure I didn’t leave them behind…
It’s a MUST try, make sure to book in! Plenty of local sourced alcohol and n/a options.
Thanks Bella and Morris for the best evening!
Pros: Fine dining experience , Incredible food, Approachable hosting

Gathered & Foraged!! - Edit
Bella, the sweet woman providing service, along with her husband & chef, Morris, foliage many of the star ingredients in their delicious dishes. From the flowers (of garlic & what most would consider ornamental!), along with stems/bark, leaves, to roots create absolutely unique meals that will really challenge your current palette. Creating ingredients by fermenting, pickling, marinating, even cheong (Korean fermentation technique of sugar & botanical that turns into flavored syrup/also coined as “man made honey”) !! From the homemade water kefirs to the sommelier selected wine list (by Bella, she loves & knows her wine), the entire meal is always an experience. Never the exact same because they rely on seasonal, Dutch local produce along with what nature provides (they collect on the days the place is closed). I have gone back time & time again, & never disappointed. This couple’s vision is beautiful & a true treat, would absolutely recommend to someone who wants to have an incredible culinary experience.

Amazing, original, innovative - Edit
Truly an example of a full grown plantbased menu. Nothing was missing, dishes were innovative and very tasty they fit together well and also the drink menu was very good. Many local wins and homebrewed kombucha. Staff was really friendly. We had an amazing night and had the 5-course menu, we enjoyed every dish. While the food is quite fancy and expensive the restaurant itself isnt posh at all and veels very welcoming. The local dutch plants they used were often unknown, and they used roots, flower buds and everything else in very original ways
Read moreAdditionally they take care that the food is filing and nutrituous. Usually after eating 5 courses of only plants one can feel unsatiated

Amazing - Edit
It was an amazing experience. Looking for a innovative and interesting plant based menu is not always easy, but Morris and Bella has an amazing go at it. The dishes were very interesting, tasted amazing and used only loc en seasonal products. Additionally they took care to have the dishes be sufficiently filling, so you wont go home hungry, which is what can happen of you only eat plants. They have a good selection of vegan wines and homebrewed kombucha.

I have been eating here for years. Expensive, yes, but worth it because they keep evolving and they get better and better. Incredibly innovative for a place that is run by just two people.

Super delicious and beautifully creative food experience - Edit
At Morris and Bella you can choose between a 4, 5, or 6 course dinner - we went for the 6 courses. Each of these courses were amazing, characterized by beautiful blends of flavor, unique ingredients and all very attractively presented. In addition, I enjoyed some delicious dry kombucha, which I found to be a nice supplement for the alcoholic drinks they had to offer. This all, combined with thoughtful and friendly service, made this dinner experience one to remember😄

A relaxed scrumptious fine dining experience - Edit
The restaurant does not strike one as a fine dining restaurant when you walk in. The place exudes a quiet confidence, one that does not scream for attention, and nor does it need to because they know they’ve got the good food to prove their worth!
Read moreWe sat outside in the summer sun and had six courses. There is a huge emphasis on sustainability and quality as they use local and seasonal produce. With each course that appeared they explained the ingredients and where they came from. I have never heard some of the local Dutch plants and herbs they used but was so pleasantly surprised. They also use parts of vegetables that I never thought of using so my horizons have been expanded in that regard (:
The food was delicious, creative, innovative, and most importantly it made me happy! They have a wonderful drinks menu with lots of kombucha, ciders, and wine. I really enjoyed the more laid back and casual atmosphere.

Not worth the price - Edit
Good food, but not worth the cost. Admittedly I just ate at De Waaghals which was cheaper and amazing. At Morris and Bella I got the 5 course meal (skipping the sixth cheese course, although it's vegan cheese apparently). The bread was boring and hard, the soup was not great, the other courses all tasted good but not amazing, the ambiance is fine but not special. The dishes looked pretty when presented. I'd come back for half the price but this is just too pricey for what you get.

Familiar ingredients, unfamiliar, explosive and unique taste - Edit
Morris and Bella is incredibly cozy for the high dining food you'll experience. We were constantly baffled at the deep complex flavors presented to us. All the dishes had multiple components that worked incredibly together and seperate. Best vegan high dining food I've ever tasted. Highlight: the yeast sauce.

Really interesting experience - Edit
In the beginning I was a bit skeptical because the concept of such an elaborate dinner with many courses didn't match with the quite relaxed atmosphere, but with each course this place won me over more and more.
Read moreThe owners do everything on their own from creating the menu to cooking the dishes as well as serving them. With every course you receive an explanation of the dish and the ingredients that were used.
Because they only work with seasonal ingredients the menu changes regularly which makes every visit a completely different experience.
The quality of the food is really good and even if I liked some courses more than others I appreciated the creativity that went into each one.
The best part was definitely the dessert, and I didn't want to leave.
Pros: Interesting food creations, Very friendly owners, Seasonal ingredients
Cons: Atmosphere doesn't match prices

Delicious, creative & beautiful vegan food, will definitely come back again! - Edit
I absolutely loved my experience at Morris & Bella! The staff was super kind and accommodating, the wines we chose were delicious, and the whole experience was amazing! I loved that you could choose which courses you wanted (ie, have a starter or a dessert for example), and everyone got to eat what they liked.
Read moreThe only thing I didn't enjoy was the main course (which was a polenta and endive dish that evening), which was a bit all over the place texture- and flavor- wise. Otherwise, every other dish was delicious. That being said, I appreciated the creativity of every dish. All of them also highlighted different Dutch vegetables, and felt truly local.
We had to run to see a play after dinner, so we were a bit worried since the service was taking a bit longer than we expected, but they were accommodating. That being said, wish we could have stayed for even longer! I would definitely come back here again to celebrate special occassions or to treat myself. Location is excellent, and the vibe of the restaurant is truly romantic and fun!

Just WAUW - Edit
Before going to Amsterdam I’ve did a little research, and found Morris and Bella.
Read moreWe therefore also booked a table before we left Denmark.
After a day at the Rembrandt Museum, the trip went to Spaarndammer to find Morris & Bella.
The walk from the center went easily.
When we arrived we were well welcomed by Annebel (Bella). We were a little bit a head of time so we were allowed to choose our table, the choice was a table by the window with a view to the kitchen where Maurice (Morris) was preparing the food - the choice of table could not have been much better!
When we saw the menu the curiosity became too big and we agreed to try all 6 dishes (you can choose between 4, 5 or 6 dishes).
We’re glad we did, because WAUW it tasted amazing!
It all tasted great and how wonderful it is to experience plant-based food on a gourmet level !!!
The atmosphere is very nice and calm in the whole restaurant - a calm that allows you to enjoy the experience to the fullest !!
Do not miss this experience if you come to Amsterdam!
Annebel is a lovely host and Maurice is the chef you want to cook for you every day 🙌🏼
NOTE: book a table well in advance, and be sure you received a confirmation by e-mail.
