Bread and wraps contain dairy - Edit
I enjoyed an avocado and hummus sandwich here, having specified no dairy, only to find out later that their bread and wraps have dairy in them. I am very lactose intolerant and it made me ill. Beware of hidden dairy.

Today is my last day in Hawaii so we had to stop to get my last vegan breakfast bagel. The coconut bacon is TO DIE FOR. It's a great place for vegans and non vegans. My sister isn't vegan and got the breakfast bagel and SUBED REGULAR BACON FOR THE COCONUT BACON. I got the vegan b.l.a.t. togo for my flight #Veganuary #Veganuary

I ordered a vegan banana pancakes and they swallowed it with honey and cow’s milk butter, also a chia pudding, it was a very basic presentation I had only a couple of sliced strawberries and 1/4 of banana. I wouldn’t come back.

We stopped here for a quick breakfast and they had a good amount of vegan options for us. The breakfast sandwich had tomatoes on it even though it did not state it on the menu. I would have ordered another if the service didn’t take so long. The two girls working front of house were clearly not doing much besides giggling and pranking the girl in the back. Normally i wouldn’t care but it was definitely annoying since they were not helping her cook so our food came out very slowly.

Enjoyed the vegan breakfast sandwich and vegan banana pancakes. They had a cookie, but it was more of an energy bar than anything. The coffee was horrible. The service was okay, all the tables were dirty and they weren’t helpful telling us what to do with dishes/where to get water.

Tofu scramble was good but not hearty enough to be filling - some potatoes with it would be better. The banana pancakes had good flavor but were soggy. When asking if a muffin was vegan the cashier said “no but it’s gluten free.” Yeah that has nothing to do with being vegan lol.

We went early on a weekday so there was no wait. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Nice place to sit outdoors if it's not too hot, although the view is just the parking lot.
Read moreUnfortunately our food left a LOT to be desired. The banana pancakes were undercooked (bits of raw batter, and not just next to banana bits) and had the bitter, metallic flavor of too much baking powder. The tofu scramble was tiny and greasy.
The almond matcha latte was one of the worst coffee shop drinks I have ever been served. The matcha powder had not been fully blended so there were mouthfuls of plain almond milk, then pellets of undissolved tea. Yuck.
If you have other options (Ailove is not far away), take 'em. If you're in Kailua and just want to avoid Starbucks, this place might do.

Morning Brew Coffee House and Bistro - Kailua - Edit
Located in the Time Shopping Center, Morning Brew Coffee House and Bistro has some outside seating, inside seating, and an upstairs seating area. Parking is free in the shopping center, but I can see it being challenging to find a space on busy days (we visited on a weekday). The bistro has nice ambiance, great service, and tasty food. It has a relaxing atmosphere. Great assortment of locally grown coffee drinks and a nice selection of home brewed kombacha. They sometimes have vegan and/or gluten free dessert options, but there were none on our visit. We ordered the Vegan Quesadilla ($8.75) and the Veggie Burger ($9.25) - I was advised by the staff to order it without the sauce if I wanted the Veggie Burger to be vegan, so I did. The quesadilla was very flavorful with beans, fresh avocado, carrots, greens and came with fresh salsa. The Veggie Burger (made on Maui) was hearty with a yummy vegetable patty, fresh greens, cucumber, tomato, sprouts, and came with a side of chips. The staff was very accommodating and checked on us to make sure that everything was perfect (the gentleman even brought us out some more chips). I am looking forward to visiting again soon.
