Give it a miss! Overpriced and underwhelming! - Edit
As a family of five lifelong vegetarians/vegans, we always like to eat at vegan restaurants when we travel, so we looked forward to our visit to Moon during our stay in Siracusa. However, we were disappointed and definitely underwhelmed by our experience. The wait staff were generally on another planet, and were inattentive. They were more interested in chatting among themselves and performing along with the piped music and the piano. The menu lacks descriptions of the dishes, so we had asked a staff to talk us through it. About 30 seconds into her explanations she ran off to photograph a butterfly, and then stood chatting with her colleagues for several minutes before returning to us! The glasses on the table were dirty, though they readily replaced them at our request. The menu generally can only be described as weird, lacking any theme or substance. The local wine was the best item which we had, and that was overpriced and is readily available elsewhere. We were a party of five, and we had four of the dishes on the menu. The spinach salad with fruit was some chopped fruit on a bed of iceberg lettuce... almost no spinach in evidence, and no dressing - a very odd dish. The gazpacho was sickeningly sweet, and the excessive sweetness overwhelmed any other flavour. The tempe was an embarrassingly small portion (from the mains section of the menu) and way overpriced at €12). The linguine with nori and cashew cream was not bad, but not something we would normally have ordered if there had been other appealing choices. To top our experience off, we were charged €2 per person as a cover charge. No other restaurant which we've eaten at during our stay in Sicily has charged covers per person. My top tip is: stick to restaurants serving local cuisine. They all have vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, they are happy to adapt dishes to make them vegan or vegetarian, and the experience is much more rewarding in terms of great food, reasonably priced, and a great chance to experience Sicilian cuisine and culture.

Best vegan restaurant EVER! - Edit
This lovely restaurant has the most amazing vegan food - imaginative flavours beautifully cooked and presented. Dishes from around the world veganised perfectly - carbonara, spring rolls (“double brik”), sushi and more. The best chips, a great range of desserts including “chocolate salami”. Great value for money, lovely atmosphere and friendly service. Great place for people-watching too!

Swoon over Moon - Edit
During a recent visit to Syracusa, we ate at this beautiful, candle-lit restaurant with its gorgeous staff and whimsical live piano music several times. In fact, we hung out there so often that by the end of our stay, staff were bringing us samples of dishes to taste. I cannot single out one outstanding dish; everything we had at Moon was fabulous. You’re supposed to be able to ask for recipes, and I did, but nothing typed on a page was forthcoming - the handsome waiter would take himself off for a chat to the chef, then return with verbal instructions. I made copious notes, but when I looked at them again in broad daylight, thousands of miles away, I realised that what I longed to recreate was the entire ecperience. I wanted to be back at Moon. I am still plotting.

Absolutely delicious - Edit
Dined here last night and were in heaven 😀 2 pasta first courses both so flavoursome then tofu and tempeh second courses (even the moon chips were next level) all polished off with strawberry tiramisu and chocolate salami and some fabulous cocktails. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Gorgeous building inside with art and sculptures and the staff were lovely and friendly. Think we might have to go back again tonight to try the rest of the menu 😂

out of this world food! - Edit
I was very pleasantly surprised to find this absolute gem of a vegan restaurant on my recent trip to Sicily. There were so many delicious sounding choices I struggled to decide! I went for the sushi to start and then the pesto pasta, both of which were lovely. My partner had the carbonara, which was delicious, followed by the cheesecake - yum! The staff were friendly and cheerful and the outside dining area was really pleasant. Well worth a visit

What a pleasantly delicious surprise - Edit
Stumbled upon this restaurant as I'm walking around the town looking for a place for dinner. I had a glass of the Susucaro (an organic wine from Mount Etna which had been recommended to me by a friend back in London 3 nights earlier) while I waited for a free table outside as I didn't have a booking.
Read moreAt this point I haven't realized the restaurant is Vegan. Quite frankly I just saw on Google maps the rating was 4.8/5 so I figured it'd be good and they'd be able to have or make something vegan.
Finally I sit and the menu arrived and I couldn't believe my eyes. I had the vegetable rolls (sushi style), the Carbonara (which was the most delicious thing I've had in a while), and the chocolate mousse for desert (also to die for).
In conclusion, excellent food, excellent wine, excellent service. Must try!
Ps, they have delicious gluten-free substitutes.
Pros: Gluten-free substitutes

Ce repas fut succulent pour nos papilles, un délice partagé avec mon conjoint. Nous avons passé un très agréable moment en terrasse avec du personnel très accueillant. Pour les gourmands n'hésitez pas à prendre un menu complet... je recommande vivement.

A gem like this should be kept a secret...... - Edit
On our first evening in Siracusa (Ortigia) (May 12, 2017) we had dinner here... and returned 4 times!
Read moreI hardly ever had more delicious, original, creative and tasty dinners in a restaurant. Really everything on the menu is outstanding, but so are the people. After the first evening we had the feeling we had had dinner at friend's! So we returned every evening till we left Ortigia. A.o. we had an impressive pasta carbonara, a spicy pasta with seaweed, a millefoglie which I could eat every day, a beautiful 5-course Moroccan dinner.... A true gem! Almost forgot to mention the life-music from Cindy and the charming and very professional owner Barbara (and all the others whose names I do not know): thank you and lots of success, because you are very special indeed!

Ate here as often as we could - Edit
It was a real treat to find a vegan restaurant where my wife could have a large choice from the menu instead of the usual one or two items. We had a couple of lunches and dinner. As a meat eater I was also very happy with all that we ate. I had a seitan dish that was really tasty: I think that in the end my wife ate most of it! All the choices and salads were really inventive and fresh. The deserts must also be mentioned. I had a very good coconut 'cheesecake'. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The inside and outside seating areas are very relaxing, with the added bonus inside of occasional live music.

Luxurious vegan restaurant - Edit
Moon is a beautiful place that I would describe as a luxury vegan restaurant. Their cooking is mostly very ambitious and creative and the atmosphere is friendly and hip. Both nights we went there they had live performances - one with a great opera singer and the other night with 2 different artist singing some relaxed south-american tunes.
Read moreTheir pasta carbonara is the best I have ever tasted! The entres were nice and the desserts AMAZING.
I also had a tofu-dish that was pretty nice.
BUT the pasta with the vegetable-sauce was however not nice at all. The prices are also quite high - so when they serve a plate that is infact quite bland and very boring you tend to get a bit disappointed.
I would go back for the delicious pasta carbonara and the amazing desserts. But I am not certain I would order anything else.
Pros: creative, luxurios, pasta carbonara and desserts
Cons: some not so nice dishes, expensive

mal was anderes in italien - Edit
