Fantastic - Edit
We were pleasantly surprised to find in such a small island a plant base restaurant which even though looked very posh prices were very reasonable. The host and waitress/waiters were outstanding. Even if you aren’t plant-base you would love this dining experience. We went three times in the three days we were there and eat twice and loved it. Bonus they have live music. Highly recommended.

Great vegan restaurant - Edit
Lovely environment and ambience. We had to sit inside due to all tables outside fully booked! This is s very popular spot. We had the vegan cheese platter and Hummus to start both delicious and then Moon carbonara and seaweed linguine amazing! Staff are super friendly and coffee and dessert also good.

Delicious, creative, expensive - Edit
The food at the MOON restaurant is outstanding, the ambience is beautiful and the service is great BUT unfortunately it is also quite expensive and the portion sizes are tiny. You need to order at least two to three courses to get really full!

This is a great restaurant in general that also happens to be entirely vegan. Dishes are creative, inspired by the region and made with fresh ingredients. Terrific staff and environment as well.

This is one of the most creative vegan restaurant that I have been to. They revisit Sicilian dishes and make a great vegan version. I would recommend the lasagna and carbonara. Enjoy!

The Food and Atmosphere are Perfect! - Edit
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! The food was just delicious, the staff are friendly but not pushy and the atmosphere was spot on. The appetiser portions are generous and the mains are as you would expect for a la carte. Price is average for the area and worth every penny. This place is a must for everyone in the area, especially vegans!

Top quality, mainstream experience at a vegan restaurant - Edit
Moon is a phenomenon! It is top-rated and featured in several mainstream guidebooks to Sicily, yet it is a fully vegan restaurant. Staffed by a young, motivated and stylish waitstaff eager to talk about the local, slow cuisine being served, you are inundated with service at Moon. Indoor and outdoor venues, live music, and a full bar. The food is imaginative, uber-modern Sicilian cuisine. Portions are stylishly small. Like the rest of Sicily, prices are surprisingly affordable. A hot spot if you are visiting lovely Ortygia.

What a restaurant! Among the best I ever did - Edit
Moon is definitely one of my favorite veg' restaurants in the world. And I did a lot of them. The food is just amazing, from starter to dessert. Top quality products, very fine cuisine, I was surprised at each dish and came here twice in a row (so sad I cannot do more!). Their cheese, their ravioli, their pasta and their desserts are gorgeous. You wanna try every single dish. Besides, the staff is super friendly, the owner speaks many languages and will offer you the coffee or some liquor. And the place itself is beautiful. Visiting Siracusa and not visiting Moon is a felony!

Delicious lunch - Edit
I came here for lunch and sat at a table outside. It looked nice inside too, but the music seemed to be incredibly loud. I ordered the tempura veggies as an entree. This was a big serving and I really enjoyed it, the. I ordered the spring rolls for my main. These were very tasty and so I had to try dessert. The chocolate mousse was delicious. I have a feeling whatever you chose here would be nice. The staff were friendly and helpful and offered to explain anything we weren’t sure about. Everything was well presented too.

Expensive Gourmet - Edit
There's no doubt that the food is excellent and unique. Meat-eating local Syracusans that I met all agreed Moon is the best restaurant in Syracuse. My only complaint is that, like typical gourmet food, the portions are small. Plan on buying two plates to fill your belly. For me I'd rather eat somewhere more affordable. That's the only thing preventing MOON from getting a perfect rating from me.

Fancy and tasty - Edit
The atmosphere is cozy and one of the waiters speaks several languages.
Read moreIt was quite expensive for the small portions but after all we were able to eat veganized meals like ravioli or carbonara. It was tasty although it wasn't exactly what you are expecting hearing the word carbonara (as it contained quite some turmeric) and the pasta was rather hard compared to the pasta we've had so far on our 2 week-Italy trip.
The tempeh was delicious (maybe a little bit too dark) and the burger okay, but nothing special. The potatoes that came with the burger were very oily.
Pros: Atmosphere (outside), Ravioli, Central location
Cons: Small portions, Expensive

I love this place! - Edit
I stayed in Siracusa for 3 days and I went to Moon twice! They have a lovely terrace so you can sit outside and the staff is super friendly and keen to explain the dishes, their English is pretty good too. The menu is awesome, didn't know what to choose so had to come back. There were things like spaghetti carbonara, zucchini noodles with pesto, a burger, springrolls, tofu with italian red wine, basically a mix of traditional italian dishes and products and untraditional dishes and products. The food was really delicious!! All in all would 100% recommend!

Give it a miss! Overpriced and underwhelming! - Edit
As a family of five lifelong vegetarians/vegans, we always like to eat at vegan restaurants when we travel, so we looked forward to our visit to Moon during our stay in Siracusa. However, we were disappointed and definitely underwhelmed by our experience. The wait staff were generally on another planet, and were inattentive. They were more interested in chatting among themselves and performing along with the piped music and the piano. The menu lacks descriptions of the dishes, so we had asked a staff to talk us through it. About 30 seconds into her explanations she ran off to photograph a butterfly, and then stood chatting with her colleagues for several minutes before returning to us! The glasses on the table were dirty, though they readily replaced them at our request. The menu generally can only be described as weird, lacking any theme or substance. The local wine was the best item which we had, and that was overpriced and is readily available elsewhere. We were a party of five, and we had four of the dishes on the menu. The spinach salad with fruit was some chopped fruit on a bed of iceberg lettuce... almost no spinach in evidence, and no dressing - a very odd dish. The gazpacho was sickeningly sweet, and the excessive sweetness overwhelmed any other flavour. The tempe was an embarrassingly small portion (from the mains section of the menu) and way overpriced at €12). The linguine with nori and cashew cream was not bad, but not something we would normally have ordered if there had been other appealing choices. To top our experience off, we were charged €2 per person as a cover charge. No other restaurant which we've eaten at during our stay in Sicily has charged covers per person. My top tip is: stick to restaurants serving local cuisine. They all have vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, they are happy to adapt dishes to make them vegan or vegetarian, and the experience is much more rewarding in terms of great food, reasonably priced, and a great chance to experience Sicilian cuisine and culture.

Best vegan restaurant EVER! - Edit
This lovely restaurant has the most amazing vegan food - imaginative flavours beautifully cooked and presented. Dishes from around the world veganised perfectly - carbonara, spring rolls (“double brik”), sushi and more. The best chips, a great range of desserts including “chocolate salami”. Great value for money, lovely atmosphere and friendly service. Great place for people-watching too!

Swoon over Moon - Edit
During a recent visit to Syracusa, we ate at this beautiful, candle-lit restaurant with its gorgeous staff and whimsical live piano music several times. In fact, we hung out there so often that by the end of our stay, staff were bringing us samples of dishes to taste. I cannot single out one outstanding dish; everything we had at Moon was fabulous. You’re supposed to be able to ask for recipes, and I did, but nothing typed on a page was forthcoming - the handsome waiter would take himself off for a chat to the chef, then return with verbal instructions. I made copious notes, but when I looked at them again in broad daylight, thousands of miles away, I realised that what I longed to recreate was the entire ecperience. I wanted to be back at Moon. I am still plotting.
