I ordered the Sweet Potato Hash and was a little disappointed. The Tofu Scramble part of it was pretty bland (I feel like I make a better one honestly), and the Sweet Potato Hash was weirdly sweet, like it was coated in maple syrup or something. The sweet potatos were also pretty soft and mushy - I was expecting them to be roasted or at least have some crispness to them.

I did grab a vegan brownie on the way out though, and it was ridiculously good. And huge for only $5. Could legitimately be 2-4 desserts depending on your portion sizes.
I will also give props to our server and the staff - very friendly and attentive. If you come during peak hours, expect to have to battle for parking nearby, as their lot is pretty small and fills up quick.
UPDATE (9/22/24): We went back for a birthday celebration. I got the Sheldon, which is essentially a Reuben. It was pretty good. I wish the tofu was a little more cooked. Good fries. Others in our group ordered the Shoplifters Delight and the TNT BLT, which they both enjoyed. Great service again. The waitress even let my wife pick a free dessert out of the cooler since we were celebrating her birthday. Will be back.

Marinated tofu sandwich and the BLT, with fried tempeh; we opted for vegan coleslaw as the sides for these since we had plenty of potatoes.
I think these are reasonable prices for what you get and all were so good.

We came to Madison from 2 hours away in order to have vegan french toast prepared for us.. we were not disappointed! Yum! Delicious french toast made with almond milk, creamy vegan butter on top, and our wonderful server made sure we had the organic, high quality maple syrup (thank you!) I had a side salad with vegan 1000 island dressing (I missed that dressing so much) and croutons and a side of hot, crispy, cooked in fresh oil french fries. Service was fast and pretty good. Thank you for offering vegan choice. We will be back just for that french toast SOON. And to have a slice of one of your 4 vegan pies. And to have shakes. Haha! No photos. It was too tasty. 💚

Vegan milkshake!! - Edit
I came here twice so far- the first time I got the Heathen vegan, which was okay but not my favorite. It just long of tasted burnt. But we also got a milkshake, which was actually amazing. I came here another time just to get a milkshake- they were that good. Highly recommend.

This place is awesome. They have pancakes, tofu scramble, French toast, vegan shakes/ sundays and desserts. The French toast was awesome and the rhubarb strawberry pie is the best. You definitely need to be hungry!!!

I had the heathen vegan shoplifter’s delight and it was very delicious and filling. It was better than any mushroom sandwich I’ve had before and they do tempeh right. They have a whole vegan menu with dessert (including pie) but I was too full to try dessert. The decor is pretty. Excellent service even when busy

So much choice for vegans - Edit
I love eating at Monty's - they have a separate vegan menu, and there's so much choice (I normally get the sweet potato hash with tofu scramble, but they have other savoury breakfast dishes, pancakes, waffles, milkshakes etc). The food is always really good, and great value for money. The service is a bit of a mixed bag, though (we've had some great servers and some not-so great).

Our dinner party contained an omni, a vegetarian, and two vegans,and Monty’s had a menu to satisfy all of us! I’m a fan of the separate vegan menu so I didn’t have to search through all of their offerings. I enjoyed the Vegan Sheldon and a vegan banana shake, while my vegan partner feasted on the Vegetarian Massaman Curry (along with the rest of my shake that came on the side!). We both ate to contentment and brought home leftovers!

This is the second time I have been here over the last few years and I think I got the Reuben both times. I would really like to come by sometime and try some other options. I liked the sandwich ok - very much diner food - and did like the ease of having a separate menu. They were out of veg ice cream the day we were there too.

We went for dessert and wanted shakes, but they were out of stock of vegan ice cream, said it was on back order for a month. Would be nice if this was reflected on their website, since it's been a month. Couldn't even get a sundae. So we got strawberry rhubarb pie. It was fine. Could have been store-bought. Cost $5.50, but worth $3 in my mind. We should have requested a plate instead of the plastic to-go containers they gave us.

I’ve been here a few times and nothing was really blown me away. The main dishes have all been okay mushroom sandwich, falafel wrap, and the beyond burger. Of all these I probably liked the beyond burger the most which is disappointing becuase you can get those anywhere these days. The waffle fries are my favorite part, but even those sometimes are undercooked.

We ordered the walnut banana pancakes, almond milk French toast, Tofu scramble, sheldon sandwich, and slice of strawberry rhubarb pie. The serving sizes were large enough to feel full and potentially have extra. Everything was well seasoned, hot and served quickly.

While we enjoyed the dishes we ordered, we are excited to try other vegan options they offer. Added bonus, they have veganaise as an option whereas many restaurants don’t have that ever! I would highly recommend, also kid friendly.

The vegan menu includes everything from sandwiches, appetizers and salads to multiple dessert options. The Beyond burger, falafel wrap and waffle fries were all great and very reasonably priced. We highly recommend the fruit pies...the strawberry-rhubarb was some of the best we've ever had.

Lots of vegan options to choose from, and probably the largest vegan desert menu I’ve ever seen. You can order ahead online and pickup when it’s ready. We got standard greasy diner type sandwiches. Would try some of the lighter options in the future!
