Delicious and vegan friendly - Edit
I'd give this place 5 stars if HC allowed it. Flip straight to the back of the menu for a variety of vegan and vegetarian options. All of the noodle dishes and many of the rice dishes are vegan, along with at least one curry. If you like your food spicy, try the Drunken Noodles. The seasoning is delicious, but definitely higher on the heat side.
Read moreI was so excited to see a vegan Pad Thai option, and it didn't disappoint. The only thing I might do is order with steamed tofu instead of bean cake (the denser soybean chunks), and see if they'd let me add some veggies.
We also had the Pad See Iw, and I think that was my favorite of the not-so-spicy ones. Nice wide flat noodles, some veggies, and a flavorful sauce.
Our omnivore family members really liked their dishes too.
Service was fast and attentive and friendly. The restaurant is located in San Clemente's cute, busy downtown, about a 1/2 mile up from the pier. This means parking can be a challenge, but we were there at 5:30 on a Saturday night in August and were still able to find parking a block down the street behind the library.
Pros: Delicious, Fast and friendly, Takes reservations
Cons: On-street parking only in a busy district, Has bathrooms, but they're not gender-neutral

Very tasty - Edit
My husband and I got take out once and dined in once during our recent stay in San Clemente. We ordered different vegan options each time. Both times the food was awesome: flavorful, crisp cooked veggies, tasty sauces. The prices are good too. We shared an appetizer snd an entree—had plenty of food—for under $25.

Fish sauce in veggie options! - Edit
We called and ordered some of the items on the vegetarian menu and stressed we were vegan and had allergies so no fish sauce or eggs/dairy. Tofu larb definitely has fish sauce so be careful if you have allergies or don’t want to accidentally eat fish!!

Good curry - Edit
I had the lunch special of Emerald Curry. It was tasty. The lunch special comes with the choice of soup or salad. I had the vegetable soup. It was okay but nothing special.

They have a vegetarian section of the menu with clearly labeled vegan options, which is so helpful. I got the Emerald Combination. Food was delish.😄My Omni friend loved it too. $30 for both of us.

Beware. "Vegetarian" contains shrimp. - Edit
When I asked if they could make some of the items in the "Vegetarian" section of the menu vegan, the waitress told me that they couldn't because the sauces contain shrimp. When I said that shrimp isn't vegetarian, she said that it's ok for vegetarians to eat shrimp.

Delicious Thai food with vegan friendly menu - Edit
This place does incredible business, so get here early! While it is not solely veg, they have a separate part of their menu just for veg options, and they have veg/vegan icons on their menu. Much appreciated as most restaurants don't bother to do this. Super yummy!!! I left with many leftovers, so bring some containers to help be green! :)

lot of veg options - Edit
We went here on recommendation from happy cow and we're glad we did. They have plenty of vegan options. We had the summer pine noodles and emerald curry. Both were different from the typical Thai dishes, not at all spicy but very delicious. Parking on the street or nearby free public lot

Excellent! - Edit
We ate lunch at Mongkut Thai on July 9th, 2011. They had just opened their door, so we were two of about six customers, quiet and very clean. The waitress was very nice. They have a large menu, 124 items of which the last 40 are on the back of the menu and labled "Vegetarian Specialties". We had the Emerald Curry, Golden Vegetable Curry and Vegetable Fried Rice. Everything was delicious. I wish Mongkut Thai was in my neighborhood. Next time I'm in San Clemente, I will definitely go back to Mongkut Thai.
