Best cafe in Newcastle - Edit
My partner and I own a small, local, vegan cafe and on our day off, this is the only place we will go. Every time we have gone somewhere else we find ourselves wishing we had just gone to Momo's!

Very cute atmosphere. I like how they have weekly specials. The first time I went was for my birthday and I was very happy with the experience. They have lots of vegan options and the whole restaurant is vegetarian.

Yum! - Edit
Although Momo’s is only vegetarian, their menu caters for vegans as well. I had a vegan Tempeh wrap on a Friday and came back on the Saturday and had a Tempeh salad, which was so amazing. I love that they support local businesses (The tempeh is made locally by a small business). My omni partner enjoyed the Tempeh wrap as well. Would definitely recommend to friends and will be returning very soon for some more yummy food!

Perfection - Edit
I love Momo! The food is always delicious, well-presented and comes out reasonably quickly. The menu is all at least vegetarian but most dishes can be made vegan if they aren’t already.

wish I’d come here first - Edit
Two other local places had incorrect info on Happy Cow and ended up elsewhere then found this place for a late lunch. Wish I’d come here first!!
Read moreYummy selection of food and even a case of vegan desserts!!
I had a cute little chia pudding and fresh juice which was yummo! Moderately to high priced for what it was.
I think they’ve revamped because service was friendly and fast, all meals coming out of the kitchen looked fresh and wholesome and colourful, and atmosphere is lovely!
Would def come back if I get another opportunity (wasn’t hungry enough for the vegan French toast this time but it looked amazing..!)

All the food is so bright, colourful and delicious. So many wonderful vegan options which are clearly marked of the menu - and vegan kid's meals hallelujah!
Read moreThe service can be slow, so not a place to go when you are in a rush, but the food is definitely worth the wait.

Tried the "Indian breakfast" but tried the vegan option of scrambled tofu. For this non-veg guy it was all amazing. Mildly spiced potato's, scrambled tofu, home made pita & chilli sauce. A perfect meal.

I like a lot about this cafe but don't eat here often even, though I'm about a 5 minute walk away. In general, it is too expensive and much too greasy. Also, I really can't believe that they don't filter their water.

Bad Service Great Food - Edit
I love Momos. Unfortunately I find the service TERRIBLE. I have been here multiple times yet I am never greeted, was never told it isn't table service and the girls don't even bring water to the table! They are not busy either they stand behind the counter talking yet don't greet customers. It's sad because the place has a lot of potential and everybody who has been here and said the same thing.

Sexy Salad - Edit
This is a great cafe - very nice setting, great menu, good location, decent prices (expensive, but good value for your money, in my opinion).
Read moreIf you enjoy a warm cafe with high ceilings, great decor (Instagram-worthy) and nice seating, topped with a great menu (quality local/organic produce), then this is the place for you.
I ordered a ‘small’ salad (a veggie bowl with the salads of the day for $8). To my surprise, it was actually quite a large serving of salad (after expecting a stingy amount). It included beetroot, pumpkin, chickpeas, and other toppings (YUM). Overall, a great salad with quality ingredients
It is definitely a great destination for fellow vegans and vegetarians, as the menu is dedicated to catering for ALL requirements (raw included!).
A likely concern is the pricing. As I mentioned, the cheapest item of the menu was a small, $8 salad. This is excluding appetizers like a $4 rice paper roll and expensive raw vegan cakes. If you are looking for a quick meal with a lower price range, you may be better off looking at other veg places in Newcastle. However, I will say that the place has good portion sizes for the price, considering the cafe aims to provide the highest quality local/organic ingredients.
Pros: Quality ingredients, Great decor, Perfect location
Cons: Expensive

Unexpected quality find. - Edit
I found Momo Wholefood on HappyCow as the only listing in the Maitland/Hunter area. They offer a fantastic vibe, lovely service and pure/delicious vegetarian food.
Read moreBoth my visits I've had the salad plate mix(can't go past the colours!), which is filling and so tasty. The daily specials look great, everything is so professionally presented and appealing.
Coffee, great chai and a range of innovative other drinks make the menu complete. The juices are fresh and intense in flavour. Homemade almond milk too. Lots of vegan options.
The raw vegan dessert slices were mind-blowing - a had the caramel slice and a lime slice. My staunchly Omni BF loved everything too.
Plus the location in the Organic Feast shop means you have a Vego paradise! That place is fantastic.
They do serve meat, but you can tell that everything is prepped separately, the staff really know what they are doing and this comes through in the quality of the food.
Pros: Many vegan options, Amazing raw desserts, Delicious drinks and main meals.
Cons: Serves some meat.
