Love it here. Visited for the second time and both times the food and atmosphere are awesome. This is some of the best junk food meals and drinks out there. Really nice to hang out, have some great food and drinks, and enjoy the scene

Loved it! We didn’t get drinks, even though it’s a brewery, and the food did not disappoint. I had 3 omni friends with me and they all loved it! Loved the burrito, but next time I’ll get the Crunchwrap.

Amazing gastropub fare - Edit
I don't drink, so this review is of the food at Modern Times Far West Lounge, which is perfect Southern California gastro pub food. Each menu item has a little something extra that makes the dish feel special, staff are always friendly, and the windows to the street are often open and give an airy feel to the restaurant. It's great for a relaxed midday meal or hanging out in the evening.

I had the gnocchi and my husband had the burrito. All a bit on the salty side for our taste. However the beer was great. This German approved. Service is great.

A good vegan restaurant conveniently located in Encicnitas - Edit
Modern Times was conveniently located 2 blocks from Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, CA. Linda and I had traveled there from our home in Wildomar to walk on this beautifull natually scuptured beach in this cute coastal town of Encinitas. The beach is litered by colorful sea polished stones worth viewing. We were tired and hungry when we completed our rock- hunting expedition, and Modern Times caught my eye on Happy Cow, The menue is extensive and completely Vegan. We selected the Munchwrap [pictured] with "Chicken" and the Somen Noodle Salad". They were very good. Linda had a brew as well. My only mild observation is that just like many vegan restaurants their bread and wraps are made from refined white flower, and they use oil a little liberally for my tastes. Again this is not unusual to find in restaurant food. We would come again. Dr John

The menu had a decent variety of options which I appreciated. We ordered the kale salad (I modified it to remove the croutons) and the Cali burrito. The food was good and along the lines of what I would expect at a bar. The drinks were good as well. It’s in a nice area and was a fun stop on a warm summer day.

Hands down the best vegan burger I have ever had. And when you combine that with the elote fritters- which I will dream about until I can have them again- and you have pure magic. My only gripe (and honestly that burger would make me forgive almost anything) is there are zero choices if you are not a drinker. However, I would ignore that - and even if you are tee total (we are) get yourself to Encinitas immediately and systematically order everything on the menu. You can thank me later.

Went for dinner and had the burrito, fries and cesar salad. All were excellent! Also trued some of the beers, which were very good. A must go to place for anyone in the San Diego area. Food was great, staff was great, beer was great. Cannot say enough good things about this place.

I knew they had options, but omg. It is totally vegan!! Besides how yummy the beer is, those Brussel sprouts are A-maze-balls. Even friends who aren’t plant based enjoyed the yummy.

Love the munch wrap and the mushroom dip. It was the first time I’ve ever had a dip and it was fun to eat & delicious umami flavor. Filling afterward. They have yummy vegan ranch for the French fries and the beers are delicious. Close to the beach & downtown Encinitas.

Read moreThe decor and setting in the restaurant in immaculate. Very laid back, casual eatery with a knockout menu. We tried the asada fries and a some type of beet patty sandwich (don’t think it’s available anymore). Both were great, and my non-veg uncle enjoyed it too!

I enjoyed The Classic Munchwrap with my flight of four beers. For my next visit, I look forward to The Spicy Munchwrap and the Ultra Cupcake. The fully plant-based menu and lively atmosphere in this taproom is unbeatable! The lineup of draft beers is a showcase of the beers brewed at their other locations in California and Oregon.
