Vegan Comfort Food - Edit
If you are craving a good vegan burger and fries or vegan nachos piled high with yummy toppings like pickled onions, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeños and cheesy goodness - Modern Love delivers every time! The Mac and Shews with Kale and Crispy Tofu and the Reuben Sandwich are two more of my faves! Everything on the menu is vegan including the delicious milkshakes and cheesecake! This is a great place to go when you are craving vegan comfort food!

Worth trying, but not worth the price IMO - Edit
It was better at their first location and before the Brooklyn location opened. Quality has gone down and so has customer service; you can tell that staff isn’t happy about how management is treating them. I also sent an email with a concern at one point and never received a response.

Delicious dinner in Omaha - Edit
Let me explain my journey with Modern Love. Before visiting Omaha, this restaurant was at the top of my list of places to try. My partner and I went here for breakfast our first day and were slightly underwhelmed. The Chikn’ and waffles were nothing to write home about. Thankfully, we decided to give it another shot for dinner and we were blown away. The food was delicious. I was particularly enamored by the fried mozzarella, which I highly recommend. For my meal, I ordered the Roasted Garlic Alfredo dish with crispy tofu Chikn’. The sauces, the pesto especially, were delicious. My partner was a big fan of the Mushroom Fried Chikn’. We both loved the shake we shared for dessert. All in all, I am so happy we gave Modern Love a second chance. They really rose to the occasion and gave us a meal to really remember.

Delicious Vegan Fare - Edit
We stopped through Omaha on a roadtrip and discovered Modern Love. The atmosphere is hip, the staff are warm and welcoming and the food is excellent! We tried the seitan buffalo wings, Mac n cheese, Reuben, and the mushroom plate. All were hearty and delicious. The Mac n cheese is one of the best vegan Mac n cheeses I’ve ever tried. We also splurged for dessert and tried the ice cream and milkshake. Perfect end to a perfect meal!

I believe it’s just a little bit pricy but it’s worth every bit not only for taste but for health and of course reducing suffering! Thank you Modern Love!

Great service. Fully vegan menu. Nice atmosphere. The Ruben and chicken bacon sandwich were tasty. The nachos were good, but at $17 not really worth it.

Awesome Find … - Edit
I was in town for the USA Triathlon multisport festival and, being a vegan, I always turn to Happy Cow when traveling. Modern Love didn’t hit my HC radar - only Olive Garden did. Bummed, I asked the cashier at Whole Foods if there were any good vegan restaurants not named Olive Garden in Omaha and - without hesitation - she said Modern Love. And am I glad she did. I ate dinner there 2 nights, and brunch on Sunday morning on my way to the airport. I had the Rueben and nachos (amazing), eggplant parm (equally amazing) and chicken & waffles for brunch. Looking forward to coming back for next years races, and will make sure I find an Airbnb within walking distance of Modern Love. Enjoy!

The Chick’n is excellent, breaded and crispy. Also love the potato salad with arugula. Would love to try the entrees but they’re pretty expensive.

I'd return just to sample more. - Edit
I REALLY wanted to try their vegan mac, but sadly, it's not on the lunch menu. Instead, I opted for the reuben. I appreciated that the dressing and sauerkraut weren't too heavy and the rye bread was tasty, but the beat/seitan "corned beef" lacked flavor. The French fries were good. My friend (non-vegan) tried the classic burger and didn't finish it. It looked a bit dry, but looks can be deceiving. The staff was friendly and professional. I love that they serve coffee from Amateur Coffee.

Pros: friendly staff, good fries, inviting atmosphere

Our family lives in Colorado, so we stop here every time we drive through. We are in our RV with dogs, so we park in the lot next to the restaurant. Order take out, and eat in the RV. We've done this for several years, and it has always been delicious.
Read moreThis time I had the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich which was good, but i didn't taste bacon . The butter pickles added a nice contrast to the ranch. My honey got the ChickPea Cutlet Parmesan. The bread and sauce were great. The texture was a little chewy. I loved it, but he said it would have been nice to have a little crunch in it. The fries were so overcooked. I'm not a huge fan of skin on fries cause I don't love the dark color, and they're usually kind of soggy. We've had these in the past and loved them, but today, they were way overcooked. A couple of them were black. I had a Dutch chocolate shake, and he had a peanut butter shake. When we got to the RV, we put them in the freezer while we ate. When we took them out, they were still very thin. The walk from the restaurant to the RV is only a couple of minutes, so they shouldn't have been that loose. The taste was GREAT but it was like drinking thick milk. We put them back in the freezer to see if they'll thicken up.
This experience hasn't changed our tradition. Every place has an off day. Our past experiences have been spectacular so this one being a little lacking won't stop us from coming back.

It’s all that - Edit
Okay, so I kind of made a road trip pilgrimage to Modern Love. I ate there two days in a row when I was in Omaha. And would I have gone 3 for 3 if I had stayed another day? Oh yes I would. So, lucky folks who live in Omaha, go there! And folks traveling through town, stop by, and maybe even stay an extra day so you can eat there twice. It’s all that.

Sat at the bar with a non vegan buddy. Had some beers, and had the fried mozzarella, and had Brussel sprouts to start. The Brussel sprouts were amazing. I ordered the seitan beet Reuben. It was really delicious and filling. The number of fries they give you are out of those world and delicious. Ultimately, everything was super delicious. I just think the mozzarella could be a little more melty like miyokos.

I was so excited to move close enough to eat at this restaurant regularly! The mac and cheese is amazing, and I’ve trued several different salads, too. Everything I’ve tried has been great. And best of all, my non-vegan friends enjoy it too!

Isa Chandra Moskowitz was my hero when I became vegan in 2004. When Modern Love first opened around 2013, I was in awe to see her in person serving the food. I was very excited to pass through Omaha 10 years later for another excellent experience.
Read moreUnfortunately, it was not the place I remembered. The new location has some purple-pink vibe but not the same cozy atmosphere as before. The menu has changed and the service has gone downhill.
While the calamari was delicious AF and my partner’s chickpea cutlet was as well, the vegan burger tastes burnt and the cheese was unappetizing. They even forgot to include the burger patty when they served it the first time. Our server had such a bad attitude and couldn’t be more obvious she hated her job, which really detracted from a positive dining experience and feeling empowered to ask if I could substitute the burger. Gave me the impression that the new management doesn’t hire or treat their employees well.
I don’t usually critique the service. As a past server I understand people have difficult days, but this was a whole ‘nother level of “I don’t give a F”.
