Fantastic clearly marked, they will make you a veggie ramen with udon so tasty and delicious. Lovely setting you can sit outside surrounded by woodland or inside which is cosy.

Enjoy your ramen with the deers - Edit
Small but very busy shop with vegan udon noodle options. Eat inside or outside with the deers. Make sure to not let them eat your food as they cannot tolerate this and will get sick.

Really good udon noodles - Edit
I had only udon noodles with broth (they said that tempura were not vegan). The noodles were really tasty and I had no regrets to try it.

Soup hits - Edit
Visited on a rainy day and this spot hittttt ❤️🔥
Read moreAsked the cashier/ staff member if we were able to get no fish broth and he said they could easily substitute with veggie broth.
He said that the "seasoned fried tofu" soup option, was not modifiable because the seasoning has fish in it, so we opted for the edible wild plants soup and the rice crackers soup.
Both were soooo good.
Happy he told us about the tofu option not being vegan friendly :)
Pros: Options , Deer watch you from outside

Loved this place - Edit
This place is just wonderful! It's a nice traditional looking house surrounded by some huge trees. The inside is really cozy and the outside seats are traditional seats. You can see the deers Walking around in the area and enjoy nature. When we visited this place wasn't really crowded and it was a wonderful place for a little break. The Veggie options are clearly labelled. The Udon was really good. The soup broth wasn't that flavourfull, but still good and the tofu was delicious. I really enjoyed the meal.

Really good / NOT cash only - Edit
They have a vegetable broth for udon and ask to have the tempura fried in soybean oil as well. Very helpful staff and extremely quick service. They offer hot/cold water and hot/cold green tea for free as well. Lovely place in a very cute area.

Great location, staff and price but not the most amazing ramen I’ve tasted. Happy to have the option but My udon with tofu had nearly any vegetable or amazing flavour.

Conveniently located in the park, this restaurant serves wonderful udon and sweets. Watch out for the deer though, they are cheeky enough to go in for your food when seated outside!

Nice udon options - Edit
We came across this restaurant whilst exploring Nara Park and the Kasuga-taisha Shrine. We had lunch here, with five vegan options available. Just be sure when asked by the waiter (who speaks good English) to not have fish sauce added. Food was quick, tasty, and filling.

Satisfying udon noodles - Edit
In the middle of nowhere this bistro suddenly appears. Fried tofu udon noodles will fill you up just enough to further explore Nara. The staff understands what the word vegan means and will gladly advise you on your choice.

Delicious Udon with 5 vegetarian options - Edit
Had the fried tofu with Udon noodles - staff were very friendly and were happy to accommodate no Dashi in the soup. Other vegetarian options include deep fried vegetables, edible wild plants, mushroom and rice crackers. Beware the deer if dining outdoors!

Oriental Vegetarian (Allium-free) - Edit
Mizuya Chaya 水谷茶屋 a cozy restaurant that serves Oriental vegetarian options. The udon was really nice but it's a bit too salty. Love the vibes. The staff can communicate in English and was able to understand when we request to remove allium😄Personally prefer the vegetable and mushroom udon over rice cracker and tofu udon

After a jam-packed morning touring the sights in Nara, we were cold and hungry. Mizutani Chaya to the rescue!
This is a small udon shop located inside Nara Park. Look for the menu options with a green sticker— that means these items can easily be veganized by swapping vegetable (shiitake) broth for the fish one.
Our kitsune udon was simple, light, and DELICIOUS! The zenzai was a great dessert, too. The staff were very friendly, and it was nice eating udon in the isle of a forest, with deer roaming around outside 😍 Highly recommended! #Veganuary

Food was decent. A good option to fill you up on your travels.
Read moreHas 3 vegeterian udon noodle dishes that they can make vegan. I had wild vegetables and my partner had fried tofu. The vegetables were good and the broth was probably the best part. The tofu wasn’t that good imo.
If you’re just looking to get your stomach filled it’s a hit, if you’re looking to enjoy your food it’s a miss.
