Awesome Vegan Food! - Edit
Stopped in here for a breakfast and coffee. The two girls that were working there were super nice and the food was amazing. Ton of options to choose from. It's been a while since I've seen a vegan croissant so I got that, I also got one of the discounted doughnuts which was delicious.

Small, calm, and friendly cafe - Edit
Stopped here for some lunch at this cute café and we're surprised first by the amount of bakery options on display. Cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, kolaches, and many more ready to go. We did not try any but they looked very good! Instead, we had two of their papusas (al pastor and BN&Ch) that were fantastic. I've never had a vegan papusa and it was a delightful surprise. The pickled cabbage served alongside it was also delicious. For my main meal I had the sweet potato hash which was really good! It did have some regular potatoes mixed in but I didn't mind. Other members in my party also enjoyed their Cuban sandwhich and breakfast burrito. The service is a little slow but the lady at the counter was very friendly and we were in no rush so it was fine.

Cheesecake! - Edit
The cheesecake has to be my top favorite item here! And then the chocolate chip cookies. The pupusas are delicious too with the side of curtido and salsa with the plantain chips. Staff is always friendly

Affordable prices AND amazing food!! - Edit
Incredible baked goods,- best vegan croissants I've encountered anywhere. And I've tried quite a few :). The flavor combos for the ham and cheese croissant were extraordinary, like nothing I've experienced since becoming vegan. They were so rich and delightful. We got soup to go, and it was an amazing part of our dinner. For less than $35, we got enough food for dinner, breakfast and to complement our lunch the next day. We were there late in the day, and part of what led to the amazing price is they discount the hot baked goods that have been in the warming oven for a while. Affordable prices and amazing food!! #Veganuary

Excellent option near the Medical Center - Edit
Pretty excited to try this place out as I was in between appointments, and I was pleasantly surprised. The dessert was amazing, and I tried that first since I had to wait for my sandwich. It was amazing! I don’t remember what it’s called but the cake was nice and moist. I could’ve used a little bit more filling but it was still amazing!
Read moreThe croissant ham & cheese was good but paired with the plantain chips, it was all a bit too oily for me. Regardless, I loved the seasoning on the plantains. I originally ordered the tacos but they were unable to leave off cilantro (yuck, it tastes like soap to me) as it is mixed in with the soya.
Pros: Lots of vegan options , Conveniently located , Delicious desserts
Cons: Small parking lot—it could make a visit difficult, It smelled strange inside, idk that smell , N/A

Delicious and pink - Edit
The food was scrumptious and the atmosphere divine. I had the blueberry scone and it was moist and flaky and perfect. I also had the spinach kolache which had the light white bread texture of a bolillo and a nice spinach mash inside. I added extra salt. It was light and delicious.
Read moreI wasn’t so excited about the Cuban Sandwich. It was a slice of grilled tofurkey over an eggplant mash with melted vegan cheese but it didn’t come together — and was nothing like a Cuban.
The smoothie was too thick to draw up through the thin paper straw.
Atmosphere and baked goods were supreme however!

Don’t get the pop tarts - Edit
I ordered a bunch of pop tarts for a party and an extra one to snack on. I took one bite and immediately spit it out. It tasted like someone had sprayed a cleaning product on them or mixed in soap. I got two flavors and tried one of the others and same strong cleaner taste. It was super disappointing and wasteful.

Fantastic Find - Edit
My husband and I are in town for a few days and have eaten here 3 times for breakfast and lunch. The food is delicious and flavorful.
Read moreIt is a small, clean, cafe and bakery. We have had the kolaches, pupusas, a sandwich and a donut.
Everything is excellent and perfectly spiced. I previous reviewer said there wasn't enought salt and I can't understand what they are talking about. I haven't tried everything on the menu but enough to know that it is perfect to my taste buds.
I am speaking nearby and I will be eating here for lunch again today. The only problem I will have is deciding what to try next.

Food tastes like there's no salt - Edit
Okay, first off I've been eating at Miss Chickpea's since they were just a bakery with breakfast type desserts like their poptarts and they were in their old, smaller location. I absolutely love their desserts! The cupcakes, the poptarts, the cheesecakes! Delicious! My updated review is based on their lunch and regular foods, not the baked goods.
Read moreI've given their lunch entrees a try a couple times now. I've had their pupusas and different kolaches and their soup. It seems to me that these items are salt free, oil free or just free of seasonings in general. I don't know how to describe it other than they taste very plain, very healthy and "light". Some people may like that sort of thing. I personally enjoy a lot of flavor, fat, salt, etc. I like foods that taste good. Unfortunately it seems their regular entrees are for more health conscious people and that's alright! Just not my cup of tea personally. I like comfort food/junk food.

Pros: Space is big, good for large parties to sit inside, Their desserts are bomb
Cons: Food tastes like there is no seasoning , Very expensive , Wait time is rather long
aubbabe
Their food is self-proclaimed to be whole foods plant based so the sweets feel less heavy. I think it’s a nice contrast! Papusas could desperately use some salt though

All vegan bakery and Salvadoran food - Edit
Miss Chickpeas has recently upgraded to a new spot with a rotating bakery case and a permanent Salvadoran food menu. All of her food is organic, almost all handmade from scratch and she uses no artificial flavoring. She also doesn’t use any bad oils like canola or vegetable.
Read moreAll of her baked goods are delicious- but her conchas are specifically what I will sometimes drive 30 minutes for. I live in San Antonio and have had many, many conchas in my life. Hers blow all of those out of the water.
Her lunch menu has sandwiches, soups and pupusas. Again, never had anything I didn’t like. The salsa that comes with the papusas is scary good as well as the cabbage slaw to put on top.
My dad is not vegan and said the jamon sandwich from here is the best sandwich he’s every had in his entire life.
My husband is Salvadoran and approves of everything on the menu.
This place is adorable on the inside and the staff is always so nice. The owner is one of the most nicest, hard-working people I’ve ever met and her husband is right there with her.

Amazing vibrant food made for the soul - Edit
From the moment I walked in I was greeted with open arms, the face of the restaurant, the owner Tatiana was so kind and recommended her favorite dishes. I had the Pastelitos/empanadas and the bean and “cheese” pupusa. The vegan mozzarella is made in house using a cashew base. When I received the food the colors on the plate were so vivid. The flavors of both the empanada and pupusa were both distinct and perfectly seasoned. If you’re ever in San Antonio this is a must stop for delicious all vegan fare. For dessert, I had the cake tart and the monster cookie and they were definitely next level desserts. The horchata is amazing too. My stomach iand soul are perfectly satisfied without the guilt and bloat. The freshness of the food and the amazing ingredients Tatiana uses are of the highest quality.
