Amazing variety of non-caffeinated drinks

I had the Ruby Ginger - which was just a beetroot, coconut drink with heavy ginger flavour - had no tea at all, and tasted great. There is an added charge for plant milk though, dropping a star for that.

The Golden drinks, which are turmeric based, are not that good. The raw turmeric powder didn't blend in well

An absolute treasure

Miro has an incredible selection of loose leaf teas and tea drinks, the majority of which can be made vegan. (Sadly, some of their seasonal drinks sometimes contain honey syrups.) They're super friendly and when I asked whether the coffee "jelly" in one of their current seasonal drinks, the East/West, was vegan or animal based they took the time to check the ingredients for me (without being weird about it). My favorite cold weather drink here is the Black Tea Latte with oat milk, and my favorite warm weather drink is the All-Nighter, a glorious mix of matcha and espresso. My husband loves the Woodland Latte and any/all of their matcha drinks.

Their vegan food options aren't super robust, but they get everything in their bakery case from local bakeries that already don't have a ton of vegan options. The two regular vegan items in rotation are a gluten free vegan chocolate cookie that's a little too dry for me, and a vegan "valentine" - basically a vegan puff pastry with a seasonal jam filling - that's my go-to. They also get wagashi (Japanese sweets) delivered a couple times a week from a local Japanese confectionery, Tokara. I'm not sure whether all of Tokara's wagashi are vegan, but they're always displayed on Miro's counter with ingredients lists and I've tried several of them. They're delicious and very thematically appropriate to have with some matcha.

Do yourself a favor and don't try to go to Miro with the intention of sitting and having a leisurely teatime on Sundays from 9-2. The Ballard Farmer's market happens right outside their door, and they're so popular that the line snakes out the door and it can take 30 minutes to get your drink!

Pros: Great drinks, Friendly staff, Reasonable prices

Cons: Parking can be hard to find, Seating not always available when they're busy, Vegan food options could be better

Pink Chai

Definitely a hot spot in Ballard. It’s always busy. They have great drinks and variety. I enjoyed the Pink Chai and as marketed it was lightly sweet. We also tried the hot chocolate and the notes were smoky cinnamon and reminded us of Mexican hot chocolate. I have never had tea in hot chocolate and glad we tried it.

Pros: Many options, Cool place, Fair pricing

Tea and Coffee - A straightforward experience

Miro Tea was open while the Ballard Farmers Market was in progress feet away. After we were done strolling through the market, we headed out the exit and Miro Tea was a few short feet away. We enjoyed fruited ice tea and coffee, and lingered on the couch and other comfortable seating. It was a wonderful place, offering a friendly, quiet respite for the market hubbub. On this visit, we did not eat anything off the menu.

Pros: Friendly staff, Refreshing tea, Delicious coffee
