Good option if you are in a rush - Edit
We ate here yesterday night after wandering around the city without founding any good choices. We arrived really late (7.30 pm) and they close at 8 pm , not al 9 pm as it says on the time schedule. Anyway they prepared us a dish without problem and even let us stay a little bit longer. No complains at all with the workers there.
Read moreApart from the prepared food on stand they have a written menu where you can order some dishes. We had Pad Thai to eat (order it without egg) from that list and be found it good. Cheap and such a huge amount of food.
Pros: Friendly workers , Cheap
Cons: They only have tap water

Try the Northern curry - Edit
Incredibly cheap place near the university. The stuff at the front looked a bit like standard food court fare, but ask for the regular menu for a cooked-fresh option. Three dishes came to less than THB200.

Cheap, clean, tasty - Edit
This is one of those Thai places with a buffet selection that you order by pointing at! The food is cheap and tasty and not too oily. Bright clean restaurant too.

Thai Jey Place - Edit
This is the second location of Ming Kwan and it is basically very similar to the other one, they have pre-made buffet dishes and maybe a few that you can order as well.
Read moreFood is extremely cheap and maybe slightly higher quality than your average Thai jey place and also has quite a bit more choice. I did prefer it when it was Jay May Jam Jay though because their food was almost entirely all to order.
It's good if you're in a hurry and want some quick, cheap, decent grub. Don't expect anything mind-blowing.
Pros: All veg, Cheap, Quick
Cons: Not many dishes to order, Basic location

Cheap and cheerful - Edit
This place is a standard Thai vegan buffet place. The food is definitely saltier and sweeter than the original Ming Kwan near Wat Phrah Singh (the original branch adds minimal salt and sugar, opting to put them on the table for customers to add to their own taste). Be warned & do not expect the dishes to taste the same as at the original branch. Most things are ok and it’s very affordable, but the khao soy and several curries/stirfrys are very, very sweet and salty for my taste.
Read morePros: Variety of dishes , Menu changes daily, Great veggie sausages
Cons: Way too much sugar added to the savoury dishes, Often too much salt, even by local standards
