amazing udon, helpful staff! - Edit
This udon was amazing! They have a full vegetarian menu (free of animal products, but has options where you can add eggs etc) but a decent amount of vegan options! Was so excited to have udon with soup as I’ve been eating cold udon salads in the middle of winter here as most broths have fish. Would highly recommend.

Solid option - Edit
I really enjoyed the noodles here and the choices of spice mixes. The only reason I’m not giving this place a higher rating is because I have eaten at better places in Kyoto since then but when I left this place I was very happy and satisfied. I recommend eating there if you are in the area.

Very cosy restaurant, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is delicious! This was a great choice for myself and my partner (who is non vegetarian) to eat as it accommodates to both of us. I had the vege tempura curry donburi and it was amazing!

Great vegan options in a restaurant also serving meat. Handed us a guide to vegan establishments in Kyoto which is super handy. Make this your first stop if staying a few days!

Great Curry Ramen - Edit
The restaurant specified that the sauce they used in the Vegetarian dishes contained no fish (as it often does in Japan) and they had a vegetarian specific menu containing a number of choices for the vegetarians in our party. The curry udon noodles were amazing and everyone really enjoyed their food. Service was friendly and they had English menus which we found very helpful. Highly recommend a visit if you are in Kyoto (vegetarian or not) and would have rated 5 stars if Happy Cow would have allowed it.

I had a vegetable tempura curry udon and it was delicious. They have a separate veg menu that states no fish or meat is in the udon sauce. Menus are in English too. Think we will be returning!

Good udon, does what it says on the tin - Edit
We came here hoping for a steaming bowl of udon with inari, and that's exactly what we got. There aren’t many tables, and by the time we left there was a bit of a queue - they encourage a fast turnaround though so I don't imagine the wait would be too long.
Read moreFood-wise there were more options than I was expecting, with standard udon & 2 different inari options, plus curry, ramen and rice bowls. We both plumped for curried udon bowls, one with the big seasoned inari the other with unseasoned shredded inari. We were able to choose what spice level for the curry too.
The food came swiftly, accompanied by paper bibs for messy eaters. 2 bowls of hearty curry udon ordered, 2 bowls of hearty curry udon received and slurped as soon as they had cooled enough. It's not Michelin star cuisine but it's jolly good for a quick bite.
English vegan menus were given to us as we sat down so ordering was a doddle. If you're in the mood for Japanese comfort food this is the place.
Pros: Good, clear vegan options. Solid Japanese udon.
Cons: Not for lingering

Nice food-separate veggie menu - Edit
Separate vegetarian menu and they clearly understand what vegetarian means. They make their own dashi without fish. Overall a good choice for something quick to eat when you've had a long day. Udon tempura has a lovely flavour. Tofu rice curry is tasty enough.

Delicious curry udon - Edit
Perfect for me and my husband as they serve meat and vegetarian/vegan dishes. I had curry udon for the first time, which is hard to find in Japan if you don't eat meat.
Read moreThey have 4 vegetarian options, which in Japan is a large selection (if you're not at a vegan/vegetarian restaurant). This is mentioned on a sign outside, and once you go in, ask for the veggie menu, which is in English so it's easy to understand. The curry udon was warm, satisfying and delicious, and my favourite meal of the trip! Husband enjoyed his regular udon as well.
Like many restaurants in Japan, it's quite a small place, so there are signs encouraged you not to hang around once you've finished eating.
It was easy to find, and walking distance from sights in Southern Higashiyama.
Pros: Delcious curry udon, 4 veggie options , Good prices
Cons: Small restaurant so can get busy

Fresh and cheap udon, but not worth the wait - Edit
We came here for lunch and had to wait a really long time (perhaps it was due to the touristic season?) before we were seated. The service was impeccable and we didn't wait long to get our orders. We initially came here because it offers vegetarians options (6 of them), and it was extremely well rated, both on Tripadvisor and Happycow.
Read moreTwo of us ordered vegetarian udon, and although it tasted really fresh, we were quite disappointed. The taste was really bland, and the curry udon was too strong in turmeric. The price was quite cheap though (around 800 JPY).
Overall, it's not bad, but definitely not worth 5 stars!
Pros: Service, Freshness, Relatively cheap
Cons: Bland taste, Very long wait

Wish i could give these guys 5 stars - Edit
Delicious udon shop in a very convenient location. Staff is kind and courteous and speak English, they have an all vegan menu in English, and the food is so so so so tasty! Sad that i can't give them five stars, they deserve it. Prices are more than reasonable, food comes out fast and as I mentioned is delicious. Great place for authentic Japanese vegan cuisine.

Very tasty! - Edit
Nice to have legit Japanese style noodles - most the other vegan places we've been to are western or western fusion. Yummy, affordable lunch/dinner option if sightseeing around around todaiji. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because there's only 4 vegan options, but would definitely return here for another meal. No waiting for us to get a table around 6:30pm on a Friday.

We had to wait a little bit to get in because it was really busy, but the food was really nice. If you ask for the vegetarian menu, there is an option on there of getting udon with vegetable stock. Worth the wait :)

Delicious! - Edit
A 5 min walk from Yasaka shrine and 10min walk from the famous Hanamikoji-dori (geisha district). I can't recommend this place enough, it was delicious! The waiter spoke some English and they had a separate Vegetarian menu with 4 choices! I ordered the curry udon noodles with tofu and a side of seaweed which cost roughly 850Yen. It is labelleled as vegetarian but no dairy is used according to the waiter so a vegan option. Worth checking with the waiter again though! It was nice to see so many locals eating here rather than it being filled with tourists. I would rate this 5 stars but as it is a non-vegetarian restaurant I can only give a maximum of 4 stars.
