Mildreds, established since 1988 and reported vegan in May 2021, operates several restaurants in London. Its changing menu offers British classics as well fusion meals, with example dishes like mushroom pie, Indian curry, lentil burger, tortilla chips and gucamole, burger with fries, waffles, vegan brownie with ice cream. This branch is small and gets crowded at rush hour so expect a wait. Open Mon-Sat 09:00-23:00, Sun 09:00-22:00.

The best Mildred’s in London - Edit
We have been frequenting the various Mildred’s restaurants over the past ten years in London and this has consistently proven to be the best. This time we had the Harissa Patatas Bravas for starters, the Tempeh Mushroom Yaki Udon and the Chicken Shish Tawook Kebab for mains, and Chocolate Ganache Layer Cake for dessert. The mains in particular were so delicious and well presented, a perfectly balanced blend of flavours. The red Italian wine went especially well with this culinary experience. The waitress Lorissa was very professional and anticipated needs in a well timed but unobtrusive manner. The ambiance was lovely and pricing was very good too.

Went for dinner hère. Shared small plates of pasta, gzoya ând whipped feta. Nothing extraordinary, but fairly good. Thé whipped feta was disappointing, just tasted liké violife, no spécial touch.

Ive been to both the Mildreds Covent Garden and the Mildreds Soho several times now and really enjoy the food! So far everything I tried was pretty good - although not extraordinarily great as in being a 10/10. So far the only thing that really made me go "oh wow" was the whipped feta and perhaps also the tortelloni. I'm still giving 5 stars though because obviously i keep coming back and wanting to try more. The menu includes soo many interesting dishes, it always tastes really fresh and the staff is very attentive. Its obviously quite pricey though.

I simply cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Absolutely on-point dishes, great choice of drink to accompany your food, hard working staff that navigate their way through the packed restaurant with style and grace whilst maintaining the contemporary ambiance this place brings. We purposely over-ordered as the choice was so good. We purposely ate the lot simply because we could. No regrets! I felt the pricing was modest for what you received in return. I was so impressed with our evening slot that I bought their recipe book as both a useful addition to my kitchen but also a great souvenir of such an enjoyable restaurant visit. Next time we are local to this branch we shall book for lunch and compare the experiences. Can’t wait!

Food was a bit slow but it is definitely worth the wait. Everything tasted amazing.
Bit of a walk to the 3rd floor toilets but they were clean.

Read moreIn December, I ordered the hoi sin duk bun and I haven’t stopped talking about it since. Incredible sandwich. WOW! The hot & sour szechuan cabbage wedge was something we didn’t expect to love this much either!
Every visit, we have incredible food… so we will always come back!

Poor venue - Edit
The food was below the usual Mildred's standard, but the venue and service was what really let this place down today.
Read moreWe went on a Saturday, having booked in advance as it's always busy. The place was rammed with tables, so much so that it was difficult to get in and out of your seat and the waiting staff were always pushing into the back of your chair to get past. The servers didn't seem to be enjoying their jobs (neither would I in those conditions). Our server wasn't able to answer a question about the menu and never asked us how our meal was or showed an interest. He forgot to tell us about options that weren't available that day, and then told me that the Spanish brunch wasn't available, whereas in fact it was the regular brunch.
FYI- Toilets are gender neutral. They are up on 2nd floor and not accessible to those with mobility difficulties. Toilet seat was loose and the tap was half hanging off.
The food was overall mediocre. The shish kebab had nice flavours, but was slightly underseasoned and was small and therefore very overpriced at 16.50. The tempeh and mushroom udon lacked flavour totally and all the noodles were broken up. It was served with a small garnish of wilted greens.
Would not recommend, and would not go back. Camden branch is much better.

This classic keeps getting even better. They even have vegan and wheat-free tiramisu. They have a wide range of small and large plates. My friend and I ordered different ones to share and they were all delicious. It’s not cheap and maybe there could be a few more gluten-free options but I’m not complaining! It’s a real treat to eat there.

The food was excellent. We had the tortellini and the yakai udon. Both were lovely. The restaurant is really well situated if you're around Soho for the Christmas lights.

Unlucky we visited when they had a gas issue - Edit
What we ate was nice but we arrived having booked a table of 2 and were told they had a gas issue so many menu items were unavailable. These things happen so we sat and ordered 2 different types of pancakes.

The food was good but a little too salty for my taste. Long wait and very noisy. Good for young people, in the heart of London. If you are older and/or want an evening out where you catch up with friends, go to Mallow at Borough Market (same company but much more relaxed).
