Excellent vegan dinner - Edit
We came here with two kids and an omnivore, and everything was great! The burrito is really more like a chimichanga but it did not disappoint (we were a little worried because Mexican food is notoriously not the greatest in the UK). The pot pie was excellent and the kids loved the banger and nuggies kids meals. The drinks were also great.

PERFECT brunch - Edit
Wow I loved this place so much. We got the full English breakfast, mananero quesadillas, and berries and cream pancakes. Absolutely loved everything! The berries and cream pancakes were my favorite, something sweet after a big savory breakfast. You could tell everything was made from scratch with love. The rose oat chai latte was wonderful too.

Good but pricey for the flavors and quantity - Edit
Very friendly place, nice service, nice options on the paper, but one of the dishes (Diosa verde) we ordered was cruelly lacking some seasoning and was mostly salad-based, which we found a bit pricey for £17.
Read moreElse the mushroom pot pie was tasty (but I wouldn't say amazing either), but I was still quite hungry after it. Same for the arancini, but 3 small pieces for £8.
Also, we saw only after paying that we had been charged an "optional 12.5% service fee" without being asked for anything. We're happy to pay for service, but we were surprised not to be asked whether we wanted to leave over £7 for it.
Pros: Service quality, Exciting options, Original flzvors
Cons: Pricey for the quantity, Bland salad

Good not great - Edit
The restaurant atmosphere is serene and beautiful. The staff were very attentive and friendly. For a plant-based restaurant though, I'd have liked more veggies and a bit less rice. The flavors could have been stronger also. That said, I would come again and try more of the menu in the future.

Phenomenal brunch - Edit
Amazing fully plant based restaurant with loads of options - the portion sizes were very generous (especially the pancakes - best to share one portion with someone else!) and the quality of the food is incredible. A must visit for brunch if you’re around Covent Garden!

This is the place to go for real plant-based cuisine - Edit
Last minute reservation for my birthday with my mum, both of us gluten-free vegans.
Read moreNever tried Mildred's before but my favourite place is Mallow, so I trusted it wouldn't let us down.
Our table was looked after by Sohail who was very helpful, considerate and professional, without being over the top. Service was fast and faultless.
My only minor criticism of this current menu is that although there are GF options, for the main plates you have to choose between a spicy/curry dish or a salad. Both delicious, but would have liked a non-spicy option. There were four out-of-this-world dessert options though.
The non-GF dishes included a mushroom pie and Tan Tan ramen. I understand it's hard to source GF noodles, but I would've chosen these earthier umami flavours if I could.
But as always with Mildred's/Mallow, whatever you order will be cooked and seasoned to perfection, and will probably introduce you to a new favourite ingredient or dish for years to come.
And they change the menu seasonally too, so it's rewarding to keep moving with their innovations.
For winter there has been a strong Sri Lankan influence adding a lot of warmth and comfort.
I had the Makhani Tofu. It came with roasted cauliflower, okra, sweet onion salad, chana rice and mint chutney. I also had the patatas bravas with the hot sauce on the side which I really appreciated. I was forewarned by Sohail that the curry was spicy but ordered it anyway. It packed a punch, a good amount of heat for me. I loved how the tofu retained crispiness despite being soaked in the rich creamy sauce and the rice was so fragrant and comforting. Amazing.
My mum had the artichoke caesar salad which she raved about! Said she'd never had a salad like it. This truly shows how much Mildred's/Mallow can elevate any dish into something memorable.
For dessert I had the white chocolate tiramisu and Mum had the creme brulee with morello cherry. Tiramisu was my favourite dessert before I stopped eating wheat but because of the sponge and dairy I've never been able to have it. So such a dreamy Tiramisu was a treat, much better than a birthday cake! Just wish I'd tried a cocktail too!
Downstairs atmosphere was cosy: buzzing and relaxing at the same time.
Mildred's have been in business a long time, almost 40 years. The proof of why that is is literally in the pudding! They haven't just jumped on the plant-based bandwagon and it shows in their food, which makes it hard to want to go anywhere else.
Thank you!
Pros: Consistent high-quality food, Relaxing and friendly atmosphere, Trying new things, never disappointed

Great pancakes (and dinner) - Edit
Update march 2025: I was hoping for the tofu makhani, but was advised it was really spicy so ended up with the kiri hodi. Thankfully that was delicious. The tiramisu was also really nice, but I couldn’t taste the white chocolate at all, so more of that would be nice.

Mildred’s CG - Edit
This is a really nice location in Covent Garden. Overall, Mildred’s is a safe bet if you’re in the area. As others have said, the food is good, but it’s not overly impressive. We very much liked the tofu and the vegan sausage in the full English, but it felt like the rest of the dish had more potential. The Korean fried chicken sandwich was fine to eat once, but we likely would not order it again.

We had chosen four different dishes, all good. We liked the Alma bowl and Kiri hodi the best. For dessert we had a ‘Snickers bar’, which was a bit too intense and the crème brulee, which was really good.

Updat february 2025:

Sensational - Edit
Tried the arancini Rossi starter which was a flavour sensation, the mushroom and ale pot pie was delicious very rich filling! And the white chocolate mousse tiramisu dessert was the perfect round off to a phenomenal meal. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Such a cute and cosy spot with lots of seating both upstairs and downstairs. The menu offers great variety, and reasonable prices for London.
Read moreI dined here with my mum and we both got a chicken burger (the Korean for me and the glazed brown sugar for her) Both were delicious! I have to say though that I didn’t realise until after eating that each burger was almost 2000 calories 😅 still, we enjoyed it very much.
The place was full when we visited which speaks volumes for the quality of the food and service here. Would definitely visit again.

I love Mildred’s and have been to all their restaurants in London. Hadn’t been to the Covent Garden branch though and it didn’t disappoint! Food was delicious and reasonably priced and staff were friendly and attentive . Didn’t manage to take photos of the food as we gobbled it down ( I had the tofu main and the chocolate ganache for dessert which were both so tasty ) but did take photos of our cocktails which were delicious!
