Permanently Closed - Edit
Sign outside, website, and locals confirm that Mike closed the business permanently mid-October 2024. There are rumors of another restaurant coming in but not confirmed. Sad news, as it was our favorite on San Juan Island.

Awesome Place! - Edit
First time at this location, they are definitely worth a visit if in the area. Friendly staff, good service. Not a very large menu but very diverse and you should be able to find something delicious. Crab tacos and Rueben definitely good choices. In an older large home that gives a pleasant rustic vibe.

A real treasure - Edit
We were super excited to try Mike’s after reading the reviews on here. It is such a treat to find a fully plant based menu. The whole place it totally charming, cute outdoor seating with a water garden. Super friendly staff and a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, we started with the wild mushroom tartine served with pita bread, so yummy. The portions are generous and there was plenty for us to share. Then I had the sweet potato tacos and my husband had the roasted vegetable pizza. We loved everything we ordered and sadly didn’t have room for dessert. They have a huge selection of beers and wine and I was thrilled that they had a nonalcoholic beer that was really good. The next day we were excited to return and this time ordered two appetizers to take out and eat back at our campsite. We got the hummus platter and up beet bowl both were served with plenty of pita bread everything was delicious. We are already excited to return to the beautiful Island for a visit and back to Mike’s for some more heavenly food ❤️ this place is an absolute treasure ❤️

What’s not to like? An all-plant-based restaurant with amazing food and great service. We had the Wild Mushroom Tartine, Mike’s Island Burger, and Mushroom Pesto Pizza. The only negative is that there were too many items on the menu that I wanted to try! We will be back! If you’re ever on San Juan Island, this is a must-visit!

Best food on SJI! - Edit
Been coming here for several years. Covid hit the restaurant biz very hard on the island and I thought Mike’s might not make it like so many others. Extremely happy they are still around and now open for indoor dining again. Their food is awesome! You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Seriously. Flat bread pizza, Thai noodle bowl, Szechwan sizzle… all great. They’ve scaled back their menu so some of my favorites are gone, sadly. Their bruschetta appetizer with cashew cheesy crumbles was the best app I’ve ever had anywhere, vegan or not.

Delightful Friday Harbor Choice - Edit
Clearly labeled menu with exciting options for vegan diners. We were a group of 3 whole food plant based couples. After a fantastic meal the first night in Friday Harbor, the unanimous choice was to go back for a second night. It gave us all the chance to try different options. I must admit I had to eat the sweet potato tacos a second time. The service was great and the proprietor- Mike was working both night and was most personable. One member of our group avoids oil at all costs, she was nicely accommodated.

Yummy Options - Edit
We ordered to go so we did not have an in-dining experience. Our food was ready fast, in 15 minutes though - we got there first, right at opening.
Read moreEverything we tried was great - the Mac and cheese, pepperoni pizza, kale salad, and the island burger. No fancy flavors or anything special, just classics and simple but great all around! I ate so much haha. Would definitely return and try more.

Delicious for vegans and non- vegans - Edit
What a treat to find a vegan restaurant of this calibre in the small town of Friday Harbor. Best vegan BLT I have ever tasted. Daughter and husband loved the mac and cheez. Non-vegan son was happy with his large humus veggie and pita platter. Nice outdoor patio and chill atmosphere. Highly recommend

Wow!! What an incredible find on a small island. This all vegan restaurant and bar is so good. I had the chicken Marsala, which was perfect. My husband got the Szechuan Steak, also really good. We love it so much we came back a few hour later and got the portables stir fry and chocolate pie. Everything was great. The outside patio in the back is super cute and it’s very dog friendly.

A wonderfully unexpected treat - Edit
The name of this place had suggested something a little more low-key and bare-bones than the elegant, completely impressive spot this place is. Because our appetizers were so good, I took a chance on a dish that would normally not appeal to me; a "chicken marsala." Since this is a dish that's a little basic and very meat-oriented, I wouldn't want everything to come down to a slab of vegan protein and a bland wine sauce. And while I believe it was Gardein, which normally not appeal at all, the dish was perfectly put together and really, really good.

Love Mike's - Edit
I'm a local, and I don't really consider myself vegan, but this is the best restaurant in town. The food is delicious, whatever your persuasion. My favorite item is the sweet potato tacos, but my husband and daughters love the pizzas, stews, soups, "chicken" pesto sandwich... I could go on and on. It's all delicious, healthy, and you have to feel great knowing that no one died for your meal, whether a confirmed vegan or not. Take it from a local, check out Mike's. The prices are very reasonable for Friday Harbor.
Read moreThe restaurant is in a cozy old house with great ambiance. Come in the winter when it is less crowded--Friday Harbor is actually lovely in the winter.
Pros: Delicious and healthy food, whether vegan or not, A lovely and warm environment, summer or winter, Reasonable prices, given the costs on the island
