My vegetarian friend and I went here after reading some reviews that this restaurant is eager to make vegan rolls. They were happy to make vegan rolls, but did not have any on the menu. They just asked us to tell them what combination of vegetables we want (avocado, asparagus, sweet potato, cucumber). I had an asparagus avocado roll ($10) and a sweet potato tempura roll ($12) (they said the tempura does not have egg or dairy in it). My vegetarian friend requested that they substitute the fish in one of the sushi rolls on the menu with sweet potato ($16).
Overall, they were very nice about creating new rolls, but there were more creations for vegetarians than vegans. I couldn't have sauces on my rolls because they didn't know if they were vegan. I would go here with other non-vegans, but I would not go just as a vegan.
They were super sweet, I asked if they had vegan rolls and they said yes they had lots but they could also build me special ones! The chef was so excited to make me a special roll, he let me choose my own vegetables and it was delicious. I was super grateful for the consideration.
I had a pumpkin tempura sushi roll and a sweet potato sushi roll, both of which were delicious. The lunch special price was good: 2 rolls for $10, or 3 for $12 I believe, and it came with miso soup. These and several others were marked as vegetarian on the menu, and when I asked the server if they were vegan, he didn’t really know what I meant. I clarified, and he said yes they were. To his credit, he must have double-checked with someone in the kitchen, because he came back a few minutes later to let me know that the veggie tempura is cooked in the same pan/oil as their shrimp tempura, and asked if that was okay with me. It’s certainly not my preference, but I was okay with that and appreciated him asking. I know some folks would not be okay with that. Most of the menu is meat/seafood-heavy, and you may have to watch other diners cook their Korean BBQ meat on in-table grills.
Most of their vegan options had gluten, so our options were veggie roll and salads. My husband and I got 2 veggie rolls and an avocado salad, and each of those was $10 - pretty pricey. We didn’t leave full and spent $40 with tip.
