Ethiopian
Non-veg
Serves meat, vegan options available. Ethiopian food is served atop of a large sourdough flatbread called injera. Traditionally, no silverware is used and the bread is used to pick up bites of the entrees and side dishes. The dishes also commonly consist of spicy vegetables and meat. There are many vegetarian dishes available, and most vegetarian dishes are vegan. A variety of dishes are made with lentils, peas, and other vegetables. Open Mon 11:00am-9:00pm, Wed-Thu 11:00am-9:00pm, Fri-Sat 11:00am-10:00pm, Sun 12:00pm-9:00pm.

This place blew me away! - Edit
So many options for vegans! We got the vegetarian platter and it is SO much food! I came here so hungry and me and my boyfriend couldn’t finish it. We also got the lentil sambosas and I could eat a tray of them! So good!

Some of the best food I’ve ever had. If you have the chance to eat here (or eat Ethiopian food in general) I urge you to do it. Mesmkerem has wonderful vegan and vegetarian options. All of the food is extremely flavorful and delicious

Vegetarian Sampler! - Edit
I eat here once a week religiously!
Read moreVegetarian combo for one with Gluten free injiri is a must!
I don’t order anything else unless I add an avocado or azifa salad.
Delightful combination of flavors and texture with the combo. All vegetarian items are Vegan!
You will nourish your soul with this authentic Ethiopian food.
If you have never had it before picture the flavor profile of Indian/Napalese cuisine with an African influence.
Simply delightful!

delicious food loads of options!!! - Edit
I'm in town for the eclipse and we got many suggestions to go here. I opened the menu and was pleased to find everything in the "vegetarian" entree section was vegan not just vegetarian (there was a specification under the header) me and my mom thought the food was delicious and there was defiantly plenty for the amount we paid. Highly recommend!!!

Ethiopian on the South Side - Edit
Meskerem is definitely my favorite place for Ethiopian cuisine in the Lou. The Veggie Platter is the way to go and be sure to get the Lentil Sambosas as a starter. Flavors are amazing and the food is always delicious.

Simply the best! - Edit
I love this place! Whenever I'm in the mood to eat out, this place is on my mind. And I'm not happy that I can't give it 5 stars due to the fact that it's not 100% vegetarian (Happy Cow's rule, not mine). All of the vegetarian menu items (of which there are about 10) are also vegan, which is great. I love Ethiopian food, and this place never disappoints. Eating Ethiopian is very fun and social, and you should try it if you haven't yet. Certain items like the spinach or the green beans seem unique to their menu as opposed to the typical dishes you find everywhere, and they are all great.

Love Ethiopian food. I would not say this place is the best but it is probably the best in St. Louis. They serve the injeera cold which blows so ask them to warm it up for you.
