Interesting - Edit
This was an interesting restaurant. I thought it was really cute and loved the live music. The apps were great and my husband's meal was very good. I had the gnocchi and while I loved the vegetables, I did not like gnocchi themselves. Otherwise pretty decent food. Prices were a little high but I kinda understood it based on the menu. It looks like they use good quality ingredients. Very creative drinks too--I really respect when a restaurant has creative non-alcoholic drinks since alcohol doesn't agree with me. Overall 4/5.

I had the squash stew with rice; warm spices and delicious savory broth. My husband had the squash risotto with grilled veggies with pesto. Absolutely fabulous. Great flavors!

Used to be great - Edit
This restaurant used to be great. As of late. The food has been sub par and extra pricey. I refuse to pay that kind of money for food that just isn’t that good. It’s too bad because it’s a cute little place.

Fantastic creative vegan menu - Edit
I've been here 3x so far and all 3 times have been amazing. Get the southwest black bean quinoa cakes with jalapeño cream pudding, omg! Filling as an entree but only $8 during HH! Leah at the bar also makes fantastic cocktails.

incredibly tasty vegan dishes - Edit
Merge has done an excellent job at establishing themselves as a vegan restaurant in the Buffalo area. This was the very first "vegan" restaurant I ever tried once I made the lifestyle switch over a year ago and my husband and I continue to come over and over again! The menus Merge creates are always getting better and better, with new menu choices offered quite regularly. The space is perfect for date night or to meet up with a bunch of friends. It boasts intimacy while still having room for larger groups. The bar at the back serves delicious cocktails and every so often they have live music to entertain you while you dine. Merge, by far, is one of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo.

Elevated food - Edit
I love merge! The food is so much more creative than any other vegetarian restaurant I've been to. They make their own pastas and their desserts are out of this world! I especially love their vegan peanut butter cheesecake! I know they've struggled with consistency in the past, but their new chef is amazing and her passion for vegan cuisine is extraordinary.

Loved The Tostada - Edit
Merge Buffalo was great and has a pretty atmosphere inside. They are not completely meat-free but have a large vegan selection. They clearly label which items on the menu are vegan. There are also fruit/vegetable juices and wheatgrass juice. The appetizers run about $6-12 each, entres around $19-23 each Try the Tostada with vegan cheese, it's really good, it comes with two layers of tortilla over beans and rice, piled with more food.

has options for vegans - Edit
You enter Merge feeling optimistic. The setting is warm and comfortable. The menu has a wide range of vegan options. There are even marked vegan wines. And our starters mainly lived up to expectations. The buffalo/hot seitan was great. Crispy on the outside, soft but chewy on the inside, and a delicious flavour. The vegan cheese platter had good variety. It was the entrees that really failed to deliver. The ravioli (one of the specials) and the gnocchi were very tough in parts. It was as if they’d been kept too long in the oven. The redeeming feature was some crispy, oily (delicious) kale that topped the ravioli. There was no “clarity” in the flavours though - it was as if there was too much going on. Our omni friend also found her non-veg meal overdone.

The Wings! The Mousse! - Edit
Probably my favorite restaurant in Buffalo, I'd give it 5 stars if HC would allow it. It's a fancier spot, but the food is well worth the price. I love that they partner with local farms, and tolerate that their musical genre of choice is jazz.
Read moreFor the cash-strapped, the 5-7 happy hour with $5 appetizers is a great option (Tues-Fri I believe). If you're going that route, the wings are great, as is the Mediterranean plate.
For your main dish, get the vegan ravioli if it's being served when you go, and be sure to save room for vegan chocolate mousse.
Portion sizes aren't massive, but that's the norm in more upscale dining situations.
Pros: Wings, Dessert, Happy Hour
Cons: Jazz, but I'll deal

amazing vegan mac - Edit
Vegan Mac and cheese, seitan wings and bean curd tostada are always on point.. sweet potato gnocchi was bland.. if they have a vegan ravioli special, get it, it's always amazing. Honestly, the vegan Mac alone is worth a trip.

get the pancakes - Edit
Have only been here for breakfast and the pancakes are to die for... they have seasonal flavors and in the fall they had pumpkin cinnamon roll with apple pie drizzle ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I would eat them 10 times a day. Also got a live filtered wheatgrass shot and caramel pie for dessert, all vegan. Highly recommend! Double check open hours though they are a bit scattered.

Great wings, good food - Edit
I ordered the seitan wings and the barbecue bean curd. Both dishes were really delicious. The wings were a great alternative and the barbecue bean curd was a nice pulled "pork" style dish. Girlfriend ordered the stuff acorn squash which I ended up eating half of.

One of our favorites! - Edit
We have been to Merge many times in the last few years. If just my wife and I, or the family, are looking for a nice dinner out this is our first choice! Great for dinner or a weekend brunch. They also mix the menu up fairly often to make it seasonal, which is great. We've been a couple times when they had a N'Orleans style band playing and had a vegan Jambalaya on special. Lot of fun for the whole family. Still, my favorite so far is the Moroccan Chickpea Cakes. Fantastic! Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a nice night out.

We ordered a few dishes and everything was weirdly sweet, kind of made our stomachs turn. We were glad we got the seitan hot wings to cut through the oddly sweet mac n cheese. Staff were sour only one staff member seemed chirpy.

Expensive - Edit
The atmosphere is nice and the service was fine. We each had a cup of tuscan white bean soup which was delicious but a pretty small portion for 5 dollars (not even a full cup). We split the vegan stuffed potato skins and an order of the vegan wings. The wings were just ok, and we couldn't stop laughing at the portion of the potato skins. It was five tiny scooped out MINI potato halves that were literally smaller than a half dollar. For TEN bucks! All in all our bill came to about 50 dollars (we also each had a cup of tea) and we had to stop somewhere else because we were still hungry.

Merge May Have Best Vegan Food In Buffalo, NY!! - Edit
First time eating at Merge today with my fiance and her sister and her boyfriend. They take reservations, I suggest you make one. Its a smaller place and when we got there at opening it filled up pretty quickly. Good choice of Alcohol. Food menu isn't the largest I have ever seen but I'ts pretty good. This restaurant shines at making delicious vegan food. We ordered two plates of their vegan wings, one bbg and one hot. They were absolutely delicious. The vegan soup of the day was some sort of vegetable with little pieces of "chicken" and apples in it and of course... it was delicious. Seriously one of the best vegan soups I have ever had. I ordered the vegan alfredo, my fiance ordered the eggplant Parmesan and her sister ordered the quesadilla lasagna, which i think was a special for that day. Her boyfriend got chicken. We didn't pay attention to how long it took for the entrees to come out because we were all to busy fighting over the vegan wings, but I know it didnt take very long. My fiance and my own food tasted absolutely great and the portions were large. My fiance's sisters quesadilla lasagna though. That thing was the size of a small dog and probably weighed as much as one also. She said that it tasted great. Finally for desert we ordered the vegan cheesecake and the apple cranberry cobbler with vegan ice cream. Of course, like everything else at this amazing restaurant the desert was delicious. The lady who served us our food seriously could not have been any nicer. I would give this restaurant 5 stars if I could.

great atmosphere - Edit
The restaurant had an inviting atmosphere with earth toned and brick walls.
Read moreThe seitan barbecue wings were very good. They were crispy with a cooling vegan ranch dressing.
My son had the Mac and cheese and rated it good.
Everything was very good. We may have rated things higher had we not tried similar items elsewhere. The raw lasagna was good but the raw lasagna that I ate at Simon's coffee house in Sarasota Fl. was the best on the planet. The raw pizza was very good but once again it wasn't as outstanding as the raw pizza from Belle Verte in Gatineau Quebec. They were just a bit too bland. The best dish was the vegan tostada. Entrees ranged from $11-15
Pros: nice decor , lots of vegan choices

Coming back for lunch tomorrow! - Edit
I was so excited to come here after reading the reviews, especially, the one, where someone drove through a snowstorm to get here. I usually hate seitan, but I was hoping to try the buffalo wings. Unfortunately, the kitchen was backed with orders, so I was only able to get dessert and a lime-ade to go. The lime-ade was okay. But, the almond tart was fantastic! I got some cookies to take home too. Haven't had any yet, but I'm sure they'll be great. Super excited to find such a vegan friendly place with a nice atmosphere for dining out. I'll be back tomorrow for lunch. Cheers!

I've been to Merge many times. I am never disappointed. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is great! And the food? Creative, delicious and reasonably priced. Their cocktails are a reason to go all on their own too! They also offer chicken and seafood options for the non-veg friend or family member who isn't feeling adventurous.

Great Food - worth battling through a massive snow - Edit
We actually drove through a massive snow storm to get to Merge and it was well worth it.We were travelling with non vegan friends which is always a challenge but Merge has a very varied menu.
Read moreI had the Udon Miso Bowl but they gladly substituted quinoa to make it gluten free which made it quite deliciuos - the serving was so generous I had a good portion for breakfast the next morning. My husband had the Tomato Fennel soup with gluten free toast on the side which was delicious and then the vegan Coconut Lemongrass quinoa with Tofu which was also exceptionally tasty. Our non vegan friends had a custom pizza and the pesto pasta with organic chicken and they loved it.
As a treat my husband took home the cranberry and apply cobbler with soy ice cream and had it later in the evening and raved about it.
Our server was very friendly and knowledgable and eager to please. The pricing was very good value for money. We would highly recommend Merge for a wonderful meal and we will return when we're in the area.

Finally - Vegan options on the menu! - Edit
Merge is a much needed and welcomed addition to the Buffalo restaurant scene. They have many vegan menu items, and many more dishes can be made vegan by substituting tofu, seitan, or tempeh protein. The red sauce is amazing! I've had the vegan lasagna and the vegan polenta, both were delicious They also have an incredibly rich vegan chocolate mouse dessert. They did accidently bring my vegan pizza with cow cheese, so just double check with your server before jumping right in. The atmosphere is pleasant, warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Merge to vegetarians, vegans and omnivores (they do have some animal protein options on their menu.) The vegetarian food is prepared separately from the chicken and fish dishes, according to their menu. They also have entertainment - open mic, movies, art for sale on the walls. I hope this restaurant stays around for a long time!

Welcome addition - Edit
Merge is a cool restaurant and I'm really glad it opened up. More than 50% of the menu options are vegetarian, and many are vegan. The place has a really cool atmosphere--especially for the artistically-leaning crowd. I'd have to describe the food as good, but not great. I've been there three times, and only once have I been really excited about my meal. The tex-mex wrap and sweet potato fries are highly recommended. The sweet potato and peanut soup is only so-so. The ratatoile is fine, but nothing to get excited about. I'll definitely go back, though.
