Delicious vegan eatery - Edit
This place is a hidden gem close to Stay Sakura hotel not far from Kyoto station. I was overjoyed to find a vegan restaurant where everything is 'safe' to eat which can be tricky in Japan. It's a simple menu with a few dishes done well. We enjoyed the mock egg sandwiches (indistinguishable from real egg), curry, sushi and vegan chocolate cake, iced coffee and fresh pineapple juice. A little on the pricey side for the portion sizes, but I believe this just reflects the cost of the quality vegan ingredients which may not be as easy to come by in Japan. Our server was lovely and friendly too. I would recommend this place to any vegetarians or vegans staying in the area!

Delishious Japanese curry - Edit
We visited this cafe just arriving in Kyoto, it was lunch time and the lunch menu was available, we tried Japanese curry and rolls with vegetables, as well as soy meat. The rolls were quite simple, miso soup and various small snacks were served with them. I really liked the curry. Credit cards are accepted, the staff is very friendly.

i had a wonderful traditional japanese breakfast here. everything was delicate and balanced in flavor and it was more than enough food to set me up for a day of walking. i also enjoyed their vegan milk tea and matcha pudding. i loved it all!

Lovely cauliflower fritters - Edit
We were first to arrive for dinner which was lucky as several people followed and eventually it was full! We ordered cauliflower fritters to share which were delicious. The batter and the sauce served with it were perfect. We both ordered the shojin curry which we enjoyed. The flavour of the curry was perfect.
Read moreWe then ordered a chocolate cake and a caramel banana cake. We were expecting a chocolate cake the same as the ones we saw at the Osaka branch but it was very plain with no icing. It was nice but not what we expected. The caramel and banana one was lovely.

Tried the curry and it was delicious. They have vegan dessert and sweets as well.
Friendly staff and fast service.
The place is downstairs and not that big.

We went for the Japanese breakfast set which they unfortunately didn't have so I got the toast option instead. I usually don't like bread but this bread was amazing! They gave us some Japanese pear free of charge which was sweet, juicy and crisp. When we left they gave us ground coffee as a gift.

Great breakfast and friendly staff - Edit
This is a cute cafe right by the train station, perfect for grabbing breakfast before travelling. We had the egg sandwich and the vegan toast which were both delicious. Unfortunately they didn’t have the breakfast set but understandable as they only opened a couple weeks ago. Would definitely come back to try that! They also gave us a present of some ground coffee!

Discovered Mercy Vegan Factory while on the hunt for dinner, and so glad we did! Some things were sold out from the main dinner menu but we were able to order some delicious items and were fully satisfied - egg salad sandwiches (YUM), fried kurumafu (also YUM but I think it was missing the sauce), and gimbap (YUM).

I ordered curry, kimbap, salad and sweet and sour cauliflower. Everything was delicious and portion sizes were perfect. Prices were very reasonable and the staff were friendly and attentive. The menu was relatively small and some items were sold out when we had dinner there. I would definitely go back!
