A few vegan options. Everything is organic. We went twice to have dinner there during our stay in Madalena, Pico.
Read moreI went for their chili dish on the first night and it was very good. On the second night, i tried their salad. The salad as you can see in the photo is different vegetables, tofu and noodles placed together with peanut butter sauce in the middle. The salad was a bit boring. I preferred the chili dish way more.

The service was great, the staff were friendly and very attentive. There were vegan and vegetarian options, those we tried were really tasty and presented differently to how we'd had them before which was a nice change.

Read morearriving they had only the Chili as main and a chickpea/avocado salad as starter. I was a bit disappointed, cause I thought there’s more.
Since the hours on HappyCow are wrong (they close at 3PM and reopen at 18:30) and we had to be at the airport quickly we decided to Take Away. It was very very good! bit pricey though for the portion, but I was very happy about the food :)

Fancy, overpriced and disappointing - Edit
We only had the roasted chickpea salad. It was a bit boring (iceberg salad, chickpeas and a little bit of avocado). Also the waiter was a bit annoyed and unfriendly about our request to have the starter as a main course, since one person of our group does not eat gluten.

There was only one vegan option in 07/2022, the vegetables chili, and some vegan starters. The chili was really tasty and a big portion! The restaurant was a nice place to eat and had a good atmosphere. Good option in Madalena.

I went twice and tried the vegan feijoada and the stuffed pepper. Both were delicious, maybe just a little bit too oily for the pepper. Portions are generous.

Ended up there by accident but what a nice surprise. Very friendly staff, cosy and relaxed atmosphere, all vegetarian options except 1 (burger) are vegan. We had the chili and the risotto, very yummy! Big portions but doggie bags available. We will be back for sure😄

The waitress wasn't the most friendly person in the world but she was ok.

A must when in Madalena - Edit
Our host in Pico recommended this place when she found out we were vegetarians. We had the veggie soup, bean chili and the veggie burger - so good! The place was full so we were seated at the couter, where we could watch the staff at work while waiting for our food ( you should sit there, if you get the choice - it's really entertaining ) The staff is very friendly, professional and humble, which we found so likeable😄keep doing the good work!

Read moreEverything was very delishous. I definitly recommand the bean stew most. You get beans and other vegetable in a tasty sauce, rice with some coconut bits in it and yucca (Kind of flour with some banana in it).

So places that aren’t fully vegan/vegetarian can’t get 5 stars, and that’s very ok! But the vegan options here were above any expectations. We had the house salad which was super tasty with fresh greens, seeds, beetroot, guacamole and delicious dressing. We also had a vegetable stew with coconut rice - very good! I hope they cut out the meat and go fully vegan, it would totally work!
Read moreThe shop had a big wall of seeds, powders, grains, beans and such that you could buy loose without wrapping - I love that! Also many options for snacks, beauty/toilet products and crystals. Very nice shop indeed! ☺️
