Nice food, but difficult for tourists

The food is nice and excellently priced. But payment can only be done with a special university card from Berlin and around. This can be purchased for €1.55 deposit at a vending machine, but this is not clearly indicated.

Pros: Nice food, Cheap

Cons: Strange payment method

Green Milestone!

What a great opportunity for students to get delicious vegan food, that's affordable and sustainable and healthy! The menu differs every day, the portions are satisfying and everything is vegan, even the dessert! Suxh a variety of foods is sometjing you cannot expect from many restaurants. I always go there for lunch!

Pros: 100% vegan, Large portions , Many options, changinf menu

A milestone

I've been here twice. Of course, a university cafeteria cannot be expected to have restaurant level food. There are nice options though and of course, the homemade pasta is a go to, especially since they have vegan cheese (at the register)

Not worthy

If you’re not student you have to pay a card extra. Prices are not cheap for the quality they offer. Really university canteen and they weren’t happy to know we are not students

Pros: Many vegan options, Fast service, Young people around

Cons: Expensive, Too crowded, Bad quality

Vegane Mensa

Toll, dass es eine vegane Mensa gibt. Essen ist normal: Grossküchenqualität. Dafür für externe Gäste recht teuer. Studenten können günstig essen.

Pros: Günstig für Studenten

Cons: Grossküchenqualität

Just okay

I had the burger, it tasted fine, the bread was overtoasted though. It was very annoying to pay as a guest, the cashier made very confusing remarks about the necessity of a payment card. FYI: You can pay by cash, just say you're only eating here once.

really good food

I was there with my family and we wanted to test it and it was really good. they have a huge menu of dishes and they are all very different and delicious and you can get some vegan cappuccino from the coffee machine and the atmosphere and the ambience is really friendly and calm. I’d love to go there again and test an other dish. the very special thing was, that they also had some vegan desserts like tiramisu and apple bags and cinnamon rolls and chocolate muffins.

Pros: cheap , everything is vegan , nice atmosphere

Tasty food options, smoothies are great!

This mensa with its myriad dishes, desserts, long queues and demand is a great example of how easy other mensas can be veganized and offer healthier, ethical and environmentally friendly food!

Not open for everyone

I read about this place in the newspaper and I knew I have to find it during my trip, so I immediately searched for it on HappyCow. Contrary to what is written, it’s not very open for everyone, at least not for tourists, as you need to get a Mensacard first. The cashier was pretty grumpy because I had none, and I had to pay 10€ to get one and pay. Seems like a good place for Berliners, but not for visitors.

Pros: Cheap food with mensacard, Overall the idea is great

Cons: Rude staff, Confusing

An important tip!

With most dishes it doesn’t matter how much you take - you pay for how many different things you have. For example, for a plate with two different dishes you would pay the same as for two plates full of those two dishes. It doesn’t make much sense, it’s probably because it’s the fastest/easiest way for them to charge. So it’s very recommended, especially when you’re with more people, to take a few plates that each has a lot of one thing, and then distribute it between you all! You can save a lot of money like this and get much more variety in your meal😉
Guten Appetit!🤘🏽

Excellent find!

This turned out to be near my accommodation and what a find. Tasty, Really great options and great prices too! One thing to note (maybe you know!) - you’ll need to pay by Mensa card. This can be picked up from any till and you put money on it in the main entrance hall. You can then return the card after your lunch and get any unused money back! No big deal for what you get

Pros: Lots of options , Cheap

First vegan student canteen in Berlin

I am blown away, we finally have a completely vegan student canteen in Berlin! The food is inexpensive and tastes good. Sadly the space is quite limited, especially the food counter, and the place is packed with interested students, which makes it difficult to navigate around.

Pros: completely vegan, inexpensive

Cons: totally packed, limited space
