Variety of vegan options - Edit
I wandered around to find a place to eat and found the restaurant. The place was quiet hidden. First impression: nice and cozy atmosphere. I asked the staff about vegan options and he was very nice and patient explaining whats ine the menu. I went with vegetarian curry and fried rice ( told them to make those vegan) and they catered the food according to my request. Food was so hearty and yummy. So glad I gave it a try.

Hotpot - Edit
We enjoyed some dishes here on a Saturday night.
Read moreIt was really busy, so clearly popular. When I think of Vietnamese cuisine, I think fresh flavours, colourful veggies and herbs. My expectations didn't match what we had, or perhaps what we ordered. The rice paper rolls and spring rolls were OK, but could have been more flavourful. The hotpot also was ok. Nice to have clearly marked veg section.
Service was friendly. Easy to get to and plenty of parking.

Good flavours, odd pricing - Edit
Mekong is a cute little place with very friendly staff and a varied menu for omnivores. The vegan mains are limited to a vegetarian hotpot that I was assured was vegan. While its consistency was slightly gelatinous -looking, the dish was really appetizing, with a lot of flavours and variety of vegetables. It was just annoying this was priced significantly more than a meat pho, which was essentially the same but with the addition of what you'd assume was more expensive ingredients.

Not the best - Edit
Whilst the staff were friendly and there were several vegan options available, and other dishes that could be made vegan, overall we were less than impressed. All our dishes tasted like they came straight out of a can or packet, lacking freshness and certainly did not seem to be authentic Vietnamese food. Service was also very slow - waited over an hour for our meal even though the place was less than half full when we arrived and ordered.
