Very delishes, but don‘t forget your own drinks - Edit
Very diverse menu with pictures to choose from. Size of dishes can be chosen as well. Everything was delishes and also not common.

Wheat gluten with sesame and red yeast sausage were amazing. Would in theory return for the food, but there are many cheaper places in Hualien that are also great so probably would explore all of them first.

I'm always pleased to find vegan and vegetarian restaurants in the cities I travel too. So it's difficult for me to write a poor review.
Read moreAfter finding the Feel Good Kitchen restaurant around the corner closed, I felt lucky to find Mei Sin open. The reasonably sized restaurant was completely empty at 6:30pm and I was pleased that I was bringing in at least dinner for two. The woman who I took to be the owner, seemed to be sullen and not that excited to see her first customer. The menu had photographs with English descriptions below the Chinese so it wasn't difficult to order. The food came in about 10-15 minutes. The portions were small and I was hoping that I'll be full enough because the cost was too high for another order.
Ultimately, the dishes were not that flavorful and we left part of it there despite my concern that I'll be hungry later.
Pros: Close to the mall
Cons: Very expensive , Small Portions, Food was not tasty

Het eten was heel lekker, maar wel weinig voor wat je betaalt! De bediening was onaardig (de vrouw uit de keuken overigens niet) en de plek straalt geen sfeer uit. We mochten geen drinken bestellen, terwijl er wel allerlei drankjes op de kaart staan...

The best Chinese food I have ever tasted - Edit
The food here is absolutely incredible. It’s tastes like food I haven’t eaten since before I went vegan. Many of vegan options - the red yeast rice sausage, the hedgehog mushrooms, the sesame tofu and even the BROCCOLI were taste sensations. 100% recommend I don’t think you can get better anywhere!

Great Taiwanese food - Edit
Large menu with mostly Taiwanese food with a few western items too. Taiwanese dishes could be ordered in small, medium or large sizes, which was great as we could choose several small dishes to share. Hedgehog mushroom, rice sausages and gluten with sesame were the standouts.

Pricey but Delicious - Edit
The food was the pricesiest I’ve experienced so far in Taiwan, but it was also the best Chinese food I’ve ate so worth the price. Me and my girlfriend split five dishes, all of which were delicious, with good service. The menu was also in English with pictures to help.

best vegetarian spot in Hualien! - Edit
I must say, this is by far my favorite vegetarian restaurant in Taiwan! I would say that this is one of my top three favorite restaurants in my life! My favorite dishes are the sweet steak also known as orange chicken and the hedgehog mushroom, which is crispy and super flavorful. All of the dishes that I’ve tried have been very delicious and amazing! I wish this restaurant was in California LOL. Everyone that’s vegetarian needs to know about this place and try it out. The prices are a little bit more higher. But they are meant to be shared with a group so that you can try out all the wonderful dishes that they have to offer and split th bill at the end. Seating is cool i’ve been here 4 times already in a span of 3 days lol! I’m seriously going to miss his place as this is my last night here in Hualien.

We ordered the sweet and sour yam, toon eggplant, golden mushroom, curry of some sort (on the specials insert) and spinach quesadillas. The eggplant was the favorite of the group! The golden mushroom was delicious as well. I did not try the quesadillas (had cheese), but I was told that they were not the best. The yam was not flavorful, but it was ok with a lot of the sauce on it.
Read moreThe service was great. They were very helpful in letting us know what on the menu was vegan. The potion choices were also great. We had 4 in our party. We got 2 medium sizes and 3 small sizes. This was enough for all of us to be full and have some leftovers.

Mei-Shin is a large vegetarian restaurant that serves plenty of vegan options, including toon eggplant, sesame pancake, fried tofu, noodles, and different types of stir-fried vegetables. Only some options contain eggs or milk, and the owner told me they're in the process of updating the menu to include "vegan", "lacto-vegetarian" and "ovo-vegetarian" next to the dishes.

We ordered 4 dishes and rice and paid about USD 30. The staff is friendly and helpful when I asked about vegan options.
