Good experience! - Edit
I came at an off time (9pm) after a long day and got a seat at the window right away. Maybe the bad experiences people had were related to coming at a point when it was really crowded? Anyway, the near-balls were good and I enjoyed the experience! I tried the more modern version with the winter veggies and would definitely come back to try the classic style if I have time while in Stockholm. I’ll update if I do!

Way overrated - Edit
I could have sworn that i wrote a review here at the time, but apparently not. I'll give this two stars at a push. Mostly because the mashed potatoes were very nice. I don't understand why this place is so hyped. When we arrived, it was full. When we left, there were queues outside.
Read moreThe food is okay, but vastly overpriced. You can get better meatballs in many places for less money. The service is extremely spotty. The first server was very pleasant once we've been seated, but then it declined. Some of us got the wrong dishes and, in the end, we got a bill that was basically double what it should have been. Both issues were quickly corrected, but still. All in all, well, perhaps walk past, nod slowly, if pushed take a seat at the bar for a quick beer, then make your way to another eatery and leave Meatballs for the People to the local hipsters and the tourists.
Pros: Good location, Vegan meatballs
Cons: Overcrowded, Spotty service, Overpriced

Meh - Edit
Definitely overrated, overcrowded and over priced. Long wait times, meh service and the food could have more flavour. Verde has better meatballs and gravy.

An enjoyable experience - Edit
The vegan meatballs were very nice, I enjoyed them but probably wouldn’t go back. It was nice just to have the experience of having them. The restaurant was very nice, friendly staff, and very popular with a queue to get in.

Good food , rest meh - Edit
The food was definitely the best part. Had to wait outside for a table, food took a really long time, was quite overpriced, table was extremely small couldn’t fit water on it with food and seating so cramped the girl sitting in front of us kept dangling her hair in our water.

Ok but overrated - Edit
We traveled to Stockholm for holiday. We went at a busy time (Friday evening). Service was slow because there were a lot of guests. We ordered the classic version. Food took a long time and it was not hot. Meatballs were ok. Food was relatively expensive. They make each guests pick a dish and don’t allow for sharing. I would have preferred to give my money to a 100% vegan restaurant.

Interesting experience - Edit
A place to go to for all tourists who want to experience Swedish meatballs. I'm vegan since 5 months back and liked the soy based vegan meatballs they served. Simple dish but freshly made. I had it together with the homemade lingonberry drink. My company had the chef's choice (non vegan) alternative with 4 different types of meatballs and he was happy with the food quality, too.

We went Sunday evening and it was crowded. We had to wait 20 minutes. I recommend to reserve a table at least a few days in advance.
Pros: Food quality, Waiters where service minded
Cons: Can be loud when it's crowded

Delicious vegan Swedish meatballs - Edit
I thought these were delicious! It’s been a long time since I had Swedish meatballs but I loved them before I was vegan & felt like these lived up to my memories! Highly recommend if you’re traveling with omnivores - something for everyone!

Besviken - Edit

Nice - Edit
Very popular, crowded. Obviously the name is not that inviting for vegans but they did do vegan alternatives. Nicely presented and nice staff . September 2023

Meatballs for the Vegans - Edit
I’m sure many people visiting Sweden will have no doubt been told to visit Meatballs for the People to try their authentic Swedish meatball dishes and thanks to their plant based options, us vegans can too! Because they are in such high demand, the restaurant itself is usually quite busy, particularly between 5 and 7pm, so often you may have to queue to get in but this wasn’t too much of an issue for us as we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving (the restaurant advises that usually the wait time is around 15 minutes). The menu itself is limited as they specialise in meatball dishes but there were two plant based options that I saw on the menu. I had the vegan meatballs with mash, gravy, lingonberries and pickled cucumber and it was really nice and a good sized portion too. I would definitely recommend to any vegans visiting Stockholm😄
