Great Curries and Cooking Class

We split the seafood curry and the Khao Sow curries. Both were great. Signed up for the cooking class in a couple days and can’t wait to be able to make their dishes ourselves when we get home.

Update: the cooking class was the best we’ve done in Asia so far. Did the half day class that had 14 recipes in a nice little booklet you can make notes in and keep. You can easily make everything at home that you learn.

Pros: Great cooking class, Flavorful vegan options

Amazing cooking class

Did a cooking class here for 1300 TBH and it was amazing, deffo worth the money. Nim was so helpful, friendly and patient and the dishes are all so delicious so it’s good to know how to make them! You get to take the recipe book home with you and also the leftovers from the class that you don’t eat. Deffo worth the money.

Vegan backpacker

Out this world, truly amazed at how much we loved these dishes. Had the spring rolls with peanut sauce, the "stream noodles" w/green curry and peanut sauce, a rice soup and the veg"seafood" curry. Blown away by the amount of veggies in these dishes alone much less the flavor. The homemade peanut sauce for the flat noodles was amazing! The flavor of the miso curry was so good. This place is a diamond in the rough of Chiang Mai hands down. The price point for the portions is better than anywhere else. Again, we were simply so excited to see broccoli and cauliflower in all of these dishes period, just made it over the top. Do yourself a favor and come here early in your stay I'm sure it won't be your last visit.

Pros: Amount of veggies in meal for the price. Flavor.

Cons: None.

Delicious food

Had really good fried rice and a good pineapple juice. The place looked like it was closed or just about to open when I got there. The staff was really good and took care of getting me something to eat. The restaurant is located a bit away from the main road but worth going to.

Pros: Great staff, Cheap

Quaint and quiet

A lovely little oasis away from the busy old town, some great vegan options, though not as extensive as the Bangkok branch. Banana smoothies here are a must!

Excellent food, amazing cooking class!

We've eaten at the Bangkok and Chiang Mai locations, and the food is exceptional! Amazing flavors, deep rich curry, perfect sticky rice, it's just a great experience every time. We went to the half-day cooking class, and got to make and eat 10 different vegan dishes! I was so full, but it was all so good I couldn't stop eating. A must visit in Chiang Mai, and if you have the time, get in the kitchen!

Pros: All vegetarian, mostly vegan, Offers cooking classes

Cons: Limited seating

One of my favourite restaurants ever

Have tried most things on the menu, and never been disappointed. I think the food here is fantastic and the portions are good also. It’s small and quiet, and I would disagree with any comment that labels this as a negative. I find it hard to not visit at least once a day, and would recommend it to anyone who told me they were going to Chiang Mai. I also done the cooking class here and our teacher was really kind and pleasant.

Pros: Excellent food, Good value

Great food & cooking classes

We really enjoyed the food. So much that we did a cooking class, we cooked about 8 different dishes plus one dessert and we got all the recipes in a book. So if you like Thai food (of course vegan/vegetarian) and want to continue to cook it at home - I recommend the cooking class.

Great prices and flavor

Our food here was delicious! I was most excited to see a slightly different variety of menu items from many of the default Thai options. Really liked my crispy morning glory salad.

Pros: Friendly staff, Good prices , Unique menu items

Cons: Atmosphere is basic and a little rundown , Menus could use replacement/reprinting

Great prices and food

This is a fantastic place to drop by for a quick lunch or dinner. I had the “fish” cakes (tofu, veggies, and chili). Very spicy and satisfying. Also the veggie fried rice which was the most beautiful and fresh veggie friend rice I’ve had. Lots of delicious veggies, and tofu (which wasn’t listed on the menu but was very welcome). Will definitely return.

Pros: Prices , Location, Good food

Must visit!

May Kaidee deserves every good review it has received. Huge menu, it's so hard to pick. Everything we tried was delicious, affordable and full of flavour. Staff were friendly and helpful - ordering in English was easy. If you're a veggo in Chiang Mai, get yourself to May Kaidee stat!

Pros: huge menu , affordable prices , friendly staff

Cons: NONE!

Wonderful!

Really nice authentic Thai food. Vegan options are available and easy to find. The portion sizes are huge and very cheap as well! I highly recommend trying if you are in the area! Also there’s a cookery class that you can try in the restaurant!

Inexpensive and good quality Thai food!

This is the original May Kaidee's restaurant with her in command. I tried the Bangkok and Koh Tao locations before with a great experience each time. Thus, I had high expectations from this place but was a bit disappointed by some dishes and the unwelcoming atmosphere, even if it remains a very good place in Chiang Mai.

Most food is really tasty (particularly the fresh spring rolls and the tom yum soup), with plenty of delicate flavors. Some others are less satisfying, like the papaya salad that was not spicy or the pumpkin hummus that was a bit bland, despite a very good sauce.

Portions were generous, it's very inexpensive and the service was quick. If we need to point out negative points: it is not 100% vegan and the restaurant is not particularly pleasant. But I will come back with pleasure to try the other dishes of the menu.

Fabulous food

Simple cafe surroundings but high quality food - recommend the northern specialities. Good value for money, too - 2 adults and 3 kids ate for 500B.

Amazing cooking class

Under the supervision of our teacher, did we make amazingly delicious meals during our cooking class. Did get a chance to go eat here again as a regular customer, but wow!
In the cooking class you will actually make the dishes yourself, and get side notes about tips and tricks, which you can write down in the little recipe book that you will get.
Highly recommend!!

Must go vegan resto and cooking class

I took the cooking classes here and had a great time, You learn so much, eat immensely, and get to bring back a booklet full of recipes. Highly recommend it! The restaurant portion is nice too, although the ambiance of the Bangkok one is better, the food is good in both.

Pros: Cooking class, Good food

Cons: a bit expensive for the portion size

Super cooking class

We came here after eating in the Bangkok branch and being really impressed with the food.
The cooking class lasted just over 3 hours (we did the afternoon session starting at 2pm) and we made 10 different things: green curry paste, Tom yum paste, peanut sauce, pumpkin houmous, papaya salad, fresh spring rolls, green curry, pad Thai, masaman curry, Tom yum soup, and mango sticky rice. You get to eat all of it as you go along too, so come with an empty stomach!!
All this food is available in the restaurant too - I would highly recommend the cooking course, but if you don't have time, at least go to the restaurant for food!!!

Pros: Cooking class, Good selection of food, Friendly staff
