Cozy, original restaurant! - Edit
I was excited to try Max Well. This was a part of New Orleans that I had not yet ventured into on my trip here, and I really loved the neighborhood.
Read moreThe staff is very friendly. I was worried that it would be a bit busy on a Friday night, but it wasn't.
I ordered the Ravioli. I could tell that a lot of thought went into the preparation of the dish and that the ingredients were well-sourced. It only had three ravioli, which I was a bit surprised by, since the dish costs $20. It was very tasty and I enjoyed it.
However, I was still hungry when I was finished, so I ended up ordering the Greens. I REALLY loved that since it has pickled vegetables.
I had the Sweet Potato Pie for dessert, and that was OFF THE HOOK delicious.
The plating/presentation was that of a fine dining restaurant, not the fast casual restaurant that it is. I was so impressed; each dish looked like a work of art.
Random, but important (I think): The bathroom felt a bit messy and disorganized, which didn't seem to match the rest of the restaurant.
Overall, I did really love the food experience here, and I appreciated the detail that the staff put into the food. I will be coming back before I leave New Orleans!

Great Options - Edit
First time visiting and I ordered the Bahn Mi bowl which was very very delicious! The only compliant I have is the tofu was a little burnt. There were so many flavors and textures in the bowl that it masked the burnt tofu! I will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Definitely worth it!

Lucky to stumble upon this restaurant while walking around New Orleans. Fantastic and original vegan menu; would have loved to try it all, but settled for the day’s special…Grits & Grillades made with Cajun stewed jackfruit. Yummy.

Bonita bowl - Edit
Ventured here for an early dinner. I ordered the Bonita bowl and their seasonal blueberry pie. The Bonita bowls was yummy and and hit the spot. The Blueberry pie on the other hand wasn’t my cup of tea. It was not a traditional blueberry pie such that it could have been sweeter, and more flavorful. In light of this however, I really enjoyed my experience here

My omni husband and kids indulged me and ended up enjoying their meals as well. I had the bahn mi bowl (ate every damn bite) and my kids shared a Bonita bowl. My husband loved the crab cakes and we split the peaches and cream smoothies. Fabulous!

Not worth your MONEY. - Edit
Wow! I love this place....wait I meant before. I’m so disappointed at this place which was once my favorite. The original sweet potato lasagna was the most amazing lasagna I ever had until they changed it TWO time. I told the owner that they should go back to the original sweet potato but no one listen. I gave this place a second chance even hoping the dessert would make up for the failed main course but no. My wife got a tortellini that only came with six pieces and I had the lasagna that was hard which not at all tasted like a lasagna. I took the stuff recommendation for dessert (bread pudding) but it was dry!!!!

Cons: Expensive!, Tasteless

Not worth the money - Edit
I was really excited to try Max Well. I love what they stand for as far as plant based fresh ingredients. The menu was pricey so I thought it’d be a nice date night. It was order at the counter, and no drinks on their menu. We started with crab cakes which I will say were very good. For entrees we got stuffed plantain and “steak and potatoes” $16 and $17 respectively. The size and flavor was a huge disappointment. The plantain was so dry and had no flavor, I didn’t even eat it. The rice in the plantain dish was good but it was just the rice. The “steak” was just butternut squash potato, basically smashed into a square. It was just plain potato, did not resemble a steak in any way. There’s so many ways to imitate vegan steak. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things but I won’t likely return.

Healthiest Vegan Restaurant in New Orleans - Edit
Max Well, located only a few blocks from Whole Foods Grocery on Magazine Street, is not only a comfortable, informal place to grab a quick salad or a delicious sweet potato cake; it is also a restaurant that has devoted much thought to serve dishes made only from fresh, whole plant foods that are high in nutrients and healthy to eat. Recently, its menu has been expanded to include suppers served after 5:00 pm. I tried the vegan Lasagna and was perfectly satisfied with it for taste, nutrition and appearance. All of its rice bowl salads are excellent and loaded with beneficial dark leafy greens. Easily the greenest and most health-promoting restaurant in New Orleans.

Very good/Organic and Fresh! - Edit
Small place with fresh organic, ALL PLANT BASED! The Service was very good. They have a funky yet contemporary little vibe. Drink coasters are recycled floppy disks, which I thought was cute. I had the LaBonita Bowl and it was a nice portion, very flavorful and fresh! I also had the soup which was amazing! They have an assortment of fresh juices, snacks, salads, bowls, and sides. It was nice to be able to order a healthy meal and not have to worry about GMO's, non organic, or animal ingredients. They are also eco-conscious and just what the city needed!
